“Sunday lunch saved by a sunny day and good friends. Food very poor value for money.”
We ordered morcambe bay plaice with parmentier potatoes and posh peas from the Sunday lunch menu. We eat fish but not meat. The peas were served with cubes of ham which was not mentioned in the description of the dish and seemed a very odd thing to be served with a fish dish when there was so few vegetarian and fish dishes on the limited sunday lunch menu. The food for our party took well over an hour to be served. When we enquired about the whereabouts of our food order, the manager (we assume he was the manager) was unapologetic and rather than offer a friendly and semi apologetic answer to help the situation offered no response other than "we are busy".
Food was ok but portions were tiny for the cost, very poor value for money at around £12 per main meal. We actually needed to eat again when we got home and we certainly do not have above average appetites. When we gave feedback to a member of staff about the portion size, she wheeled out an obviously well rehearsed response "our food isn't about quantity it's about quality," she said.
On a positive note, the beer
garden is very pleasant.

Our Sunday lunch was listed in the Top 50 in the UK in The Independent newspaper and we served over 170 Sunday lunches yesterday. As I said to you- because you had not booked- there would be a wait as we were exceptionally busy. People who book a table take priority. Our food is freshly prepared and so takes time to cook. Our food is also locally sourced- our fish is from Fleetwood and we serve line caught, sustainable fish of a high quality. Feedback from customers yesterday about the dish you describe was all very complimentary, so I am surprised at your review. If you eat out at places using frozen foods and microwaves, then our food will not compare in quantity, so I feel my staff member was right with her response. At £14.95 for two courses, our Sunday lunch offers great value, so I disagree with your comments about value for money. I am also surprised that you did not flag your concerns with me yesterday as we only had very positive feedback and my staff and I take time to listen to any constructive comment. It is just a shame that you decided to offer us such feedback behind the mask of Tripadvisor.
