“evening meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013

Sun was shining. Didn't want to cook, so opted for a meal at my local. As always the hospitality is great. Menu is changed weekly and Darren recommended the chicken breast wrapped in pancetta, whereas i usually opt for the steak and ale pie, which is always amazing. I took his advice and i'm glad i did. Have never been disappointed at the pheasant, whether it be a large family meal or a quiet lunch or dinner, great service, great staff. The only place to eat for foodies locally

“Is it worth another visit?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

Visited this establishment as part of a pre-booked party of 13 on a sunday lunchtime. We arrived on time, shown to our table and given menus. We placed our order, only 4 people having starters so we couldn't understand why it then took another 50 minutes before we were all served with our main courses. All of us were served with our main meals before the 2 bowls of vegetables were served, hence whoever had been served could not start as the vegetables were not on the table. Then we noticed that tables of 2 or 4 people were being served, I suppose it's easier to do that isn't it? Eventually we were asked if we would like desserts. Most of us chose a desert, but again, tables of 2 or 4 people were being served. Try explaining to a 3 year old who had ordered his ice cream very politely, 'it won't be long darling' - it was one scoop of ice cream, and yes you've guessed it, the little one was served last!! The whole meal took 3 and a half hours, will we go back, I don't know, but it may be worth a visit as a couple. The food was average, sunday roast vegetables were boiled red cabbage, diced 'celeriac' (we think), carrots and mange tout and a little broccilli, would have been nice to have had some green cabbage, cauliflour, more carrots, peas, parsnips, as there is not a lot of taste in either the red cabbage or celeriac. Oh yes, it was a 40th birthday celebration too, however, there was no real atmosphere, i.e. no acknowledgementof a birthday, like 'who's birthday is it?'.

“Perfect food and hospitality with a great atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

The Pheasant is always reliable with great food, hospitality and ambiance. The service is fast and efficient and consistently well cooked. The kids menu is great with healthy choices and generous portion sizes. There are always plenty of the team around for anything you need and what's great about the Pheasant is the varied menu. Not your usual pub food but something a little different with specials to mix it up. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great night out with lovely food and great service.

“A second try”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2013

After a very disappointing meal here a few months ago I decided to give it one more try for a weekday lunch. Full menu was available which had a lot of choice. Had excellent sandwiches served with loads of lovely fresh salad + crisps , proper chips and excellent trio of puds. Waiter was lovely, friendly and attentive - service faultless. Based on this experience would be happy to recommend & will be visiting again.
