“Overpriced Rubbish”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

Poor quality of products on offer, staff are not very knowledgeable and can come across as flippant. Candle making is a nice idea but is not worth the hassle when it's busy.
There are activities upstairs which are overpriced, especially with young children it can all add up - we spent £9.90 on 3 plastic bottles filled with sand.
Shop used to have unique items but is now full of overpriced tat.

Won't be returning.

“Ok”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013

Title says it all really. You used to be able to buy some stunning, unique items here but now it seems more of the same typical commercial products you can pick up anywhere. There are still a few unique items there so keep an eye out and you may see something interesting.

Some fun activities for the kids such as badge making or making your own candle but this is literally just dipping two long candles in some coloured wax and then twisting them together. All of these activities require a fee. e.g. bade making was £2 something just to colour in a cartoon and put it in a badge.

Overall ok if in the area as we stopped by since we were going to the ice cream factory but I wouldnt go there especially.

“Used to be great”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

We visited years ago, when there were a range of craft activities. Over the years they have expanded the 'shop' - none of which is made on site - and squeezed the craft activities to a single candle-dipping session which took all of 5 minutes. No demonstrations and the stuff on sale really wasn't to our taste. Really not worth the long drive.

“Pleasant family visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

Went on a Saturday expecting it to be very busy, Luckily we arrived at a good time plenty of parking and a quiet coffee shop.
My niece made a candle double twist for £2.50 which she really enjoyed and also painted a dog figure upstairs which kept her happy for over half an hour!
Lunch was lovely Quiche and a very generous salad for about £6.00 and Jacket potato for around £5.50 my niece had chicken nuggets which were real chicken ,She said they were lovely.
I had a young lady with me in a wheelchair and the staff could not of been more accommodating in helping to get her upstairs, they have a stannah stair lift just ask if you need any help.

“Your children might enjoy it”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2013

We had just completed the first part of the Sandstone Trail and decided to drop into the workshop for an ice cream. Looking around its a crafty type of place and has activities for children who were enjoying themselves.
I remember visiting here years ago when they had 'sculptured' candles which frankly, I thought were rather tacky but gladly non of this sort were about. There were Christmas decorations on show in case you needed to purchase early, very early.
My main gripe was the ice cream, advertised as being from Kellys of Cornwall. How daft is that when there is a perfectly good producer up the road in Tattenhall at the Cheshire Ice Cream farm. What happened to 'sourcing local produce' and 'supporting the local economy', not to mention a round trip in van of say 600 miles . The young person who served me mumbled something incomprehensible about competition. Not sure what that meant.
Perhaps combine this trip with a visit to the Pheasant Inn across the road.
