Firstly I should point out this is The Horseshoe Egton village 'tops', not the other Horshoe pub in Egton Bridge and I think this has led to some review confusion.
Both are great but this one despite not having outside seating is better as it has the edge on food. Wide menu inc veg regulars and specials. Game as and when, steaks, fishnchips, lovely sauces for fish meat and poultry dishes, with decent selection of fresh veg on plate. Trad hot and cold puddings and a few innovative modern ones. You won't go hungry. Decent portions. Home cooking in the best possible sense. I wish my London locals served as great a selection of good food as this. Truly the Sunday carvery here is the UK King of Carveries, book in season, starts 12 noon, this packs up about 1.50 pm (why?) so be sharp. Three meats, and you can have a combo, all trimmings, real Yorkshires not frozen. Really good roast potatoes and proper gravy too. As much as you can eat. No outdoor seats, fire in pub. I don't drink so can't comment on beers. Place is popular with locals.
