“Awful Staff”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2014

Truly obnoxious and unhelpful staff on the Sunday morning. We agreed the night before to come down later for breakfast to help them out, but were then refused service, despite still being within the set times. Horrible place that gives Quality hotels a bad name. The place itself is a 1970's throwback, tatty outside and in need of a refurb inside, stuck in the middle of nowhere and the disabled parking was full of motorcycles. We could live with some of the faults but the awful staff ruined our stay, in particular the young girl in the restaurant and the geriatric porter who stood up to my girlfriend. We will definitely be complaining.

My daughter and I stayed at this hotel two weeks ago while on a coach trip. The hotel is a little dated in terms of decor but comfortable. We had a couple of small problems in our room but the manager sorted them straight away. No vegetarian option for the evening meal but once again we only needed to ask and that was sorted. The food was very good and much enjoyed. The beds were very comfortable.

Staff so rude. We're told to go late for breakfast as 2 large coaches in early then refused service by a snotty member of staff who stood and argued with us!!
Rooms so dusty my son n myself had to use inhalers
Corridor pitch black as electric problem as in it had shorted but had to ask twice for them to put lights on.
On leaving an obnoxious elderly gentleman just held out hand for key and looked at me like I was dirt
The overall experience was disgusting and I wouldn't put pigs in this place!!!!

This Hotel is well placed if you are visiting Yorkshire as it is close to the major roads you will travel on. It has recently been updated and face lifted. Although the pool area and changing rooms could do with better non slip flooring, the facilities on the whole are better than most other local Hotels in this price range. We had a Wedding bash here as the food for 100 guests was decently priced and the rooms were cheap enough for every pocket to enjoy staying over. The most fantastic thing about the evening however was the chap who works there called Neil, who despite being short staffed on the night made everything come together beautifully and frankly worked his socks off. The food was good and the breakfast in the restaurant the next day was delicious. This is however an Average hotel, it is clean, warm, well looked after and albeit rather old and unfashionable architecturally - it does what you want it, provides good accommodation, food and facilities. The people who work here actually make your stay much more special than warrants 3 stars, which is why I am giving it an extra star, for Neil and his colleagues.
