Booked this last minute spa last minute staying over night in the 1st january : lovely stay very impressed with the spa facilities and treatment (full body massage)...3 course evening meal was superb as was breakfast, drinks reasonably priced for a hotel and the staff are a lovely bunch. Yes hotel a little dated but that adds to the character and for 98 pound pp b&b evening meal and an hours treatment there's no room for moaning .

I bought a nights stay for my fiancé's birthday and had a really nice time. The spa and gym are excellent best I have been to. Food on the evening again excellent and reasonably priced. The hotel itself could do with modernising and some areas did look shabby but all very clean! The spa more than made up for any negatives and would come back!

I have just come back from an overnight stay spa break where I took all my staff. It was fantastic. Great treatments, lovely therapists, amazing spa (so warm), great food and comfortable room. The hotel is dated but still a lovely old building. Highly recommend!

Just returned from a 3 day break and have to say we were very disapointed after paying £350 for the new years eve and a further £175 for 2 extra nights. reception and bar staff were very good, friendly and enthusiatic. The leisure facilities are superb and some of the best we have visited. However we ate in the hotel on the Sunday evening and the food was awful, worse than a school dinner, made our views clear and recieved a complimentary drink !!. The meal on the new years eve was really poor we both left most of it, again made our views clear as did a number of other customers. The entertainment was very good with a live band who managed to get the party moving . We couldnt believe it when the lights went on the bar closed at 00.30 hrs.........not what we have been used to in any of the previous 14 years of new year breaks at various UK hotels. The room we had (46) was warm and clean but the decor is tired, bath room basic and the bed felt as though it was made of concrete. To sum up good staff, great leisure facilities, food other than breakfast poor and expensive, We would stay here again if the price was right but only for the spa.

Generally good standard, not as luxurious as I expected but then I have been fortunate enough to stay in some very nice hotels. Staff helpful and friendly when required, we were in the new part through the glass walkway and they helped us with our request for two rooms close to one another to an extent. We ended up in opposite rooms at the end of a corridor, the downside was we had two rooms between us on the end so to speak and we had our doors open and travelled between them and were obviously excited and having fun and one guest did ask us to shut our doors, which was a little inconvenient as we had small children who wanted to travel between rooms. I think there should be an area where a bridal party can be, adjoined rooms or something...
My biggest disappointment was the fact that we could not have rom service or breakfast in our room, unless we only wanted continental. Considering the cost spent on the wedding and how much it cost us to stay over the nigh before in addition to the fact that we knew we wouldn't eat again until around 5pm a cooked breakfast in the privacy of our rooms while hairdressers etc were around would have been nicer. Had I been the bride, I wouldn't have wanted to go to the main restaurant in the morning!
I would stay here again if I attended a wedding or such like but wouldn't choose it for a romantic break.

Recently stayed at this hotel. The staff were so friendly both on arrival and during our stay, taking the time to chat and give helpful hints regarding local attractions. Part of our stay included afternoon tea, and evening meal on the 1st night. Both of these meals were delicious and well presented. However on the 2nd evening we decided to eat at the hotel and ordered from a set 3 course menu. When my main course arrived the portions were tiny, therefore I asked if it was possible to have more vegetables, the waiter went and got some immediately and again we enjoyed the meal. Our room was spotlessly clean and although not luxurious it was adequate enough for a short stay. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel and hopefully we will return in the future.

Room Tip: We asked for a quiet room and this was granted.
