Have been frequenting this pub regularly for some years. Love the ambience, the real fires and the friendly staff who are usually very attentive. However, it has been noticeable in the last few months that the quality of the food is not what it was. We have been putting this down to an odd blip but there has been no improvement. Yesterday my falafel wrap was dry and the wrap very chewy. My friend's chicken in a coconut crumb was also very dry and in edible round the edges. I informed our waiter but had to catch him as he didn't come to check that our food was OK as they normally do. He apologised and said he would tell the chef but that's the last we heard of the matter.I often have salad instead of chips with a main meal and this always used to be of an excellent standard but now is a bit sparse with a very strong, salty dressing already added. There used to be a much bigger selection of chutneys etc but this has been reduced so you can't add your own dressing to the salad. To be fair, I think this was not the choice of The Priory but was imposed from above. Despite really enjoying the ambience, we will sadly be giving the pub a miss from now on and may try it again in another few months to see if there has been any improvement in the food.
