“This hotel is not recommended”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013

Well we stayed at this hotel for my birthday treat on the 11th june 2013. this hotel we found on travelzoo to include high tea on arrival and a glass of sparkling wine before dinner and 3 course dinner. first arrival there was no smile from reception staff or hello, in fact we felt we were intruding on their afternoon. the superior room we were given was dark dingy and you felt like being in the basement. We asked for another room and was given another room which just about passed as satisfactory. Then we went down stairs for our creamed tea also included. we ended up with a small scone each watery cream and jam in a small pot along with a pot of tea aledgely worth £17.00 BUT NOT WORTH THE MONEY.Then we came to evening dinner we were shown a set menu which was included and then told no we could not have anything on there as the chef did not have the ingredients. So another menu was given to us. my partner ordered scollops for starter and fish main the scollops were over done as the fish main course and was virtually none edible. my starter course was chicken with salad (chicken pan fried) which was burned and solid you could not cut into it the salad was curling and soggy. Then my main breast of chicken (pan fried) over cooked on the outside but raw on the inside. then for desert my partner ordered creme brelade which was terrible. My opinion the chef on this day was not qualified to be in the kitchen. THE 2 GLASSES OF SPARKLING WINE TO GET BEFORE GOING INTO DINNER WAS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO ACHIEVE IT TOOK 5 VISITS TO THE BAR TO ACHIEVE. And as this was included in the all inclusive well they tried to charge us for the 2 glasses on check out. Now we come to breakfast this was laid out on a large table in heated containers. there was no one available topping up the breakfast for instance no bacon, when the bacon arrived no eggs, no bread to make toast with, no glasses to put orange juice in, breakfast was a fast and when all the ingredients were available they were cold the bacon undercooked watery eggs swimming in oil and still no bread. there was a lot of staff all walking around looking good but not actually doing anything including a posturing restaurant manager who was not in control of his own restaurant (my opinion incompetent) this hotel was worse then you would expect at faulty towers and not recommeded, it spoilt my birthday, the only redemming feature which made my evening was my partner beeing with me and that made me a happy birthday boy. So there is nothing I can recommend about this hotel or its operation, and would never even go into this place for a drink.

Have used this hotel three times and cannot find any fault with it I would definately recommend this hotel and will be using it again,we have just returned from Corfu but used the Manor Hotel for over night stay on 31st May 2013 before the flight with 10 days parking including transfers to and from Birmingham Airport all for £80,its only a short drive to the airport and the cab service the hotel uses are very efficient.

Room Tip: We have stayed in various rooms and have always had a quite night

I booked this hotel for convenience sake - an overnight and parking for an early morning flight from Birmingham International. However, it turned out an inspired choice. First impressions were good - Hotel has pleasant, well kept grounds near the village recognised as the centre of England: these were occupied by a wedding party enjoying the sunshine. Reception was immediate and efficient, including a parking ticket for the car for 8 days and two dockets for taxi transfers with instructions for the return (all included in a reasonable overall price). Wake up call and a 6.30 taxi was an excellent precursor to our holiday in Switzerland! The hotel room was very comfortable: there were ample outside seating areas for drinks (including a quiet inner courtyard): food at the bar was served with a smile. Why should I be so surprised and delighted to get what should be, but so often isn't standard practice? Thank you and well done all concerned.

We stayed here for just one night. There were two weddings and a birthday and so lots of partying and yet we heard nothing. It's set in a beautiful location and looks stunning from outside. It's very clean inside and the room was lovely.

We paid for breakfast and everything was amazingly quick. We had just been given a table and they asked us about coffee or tea, it was there by the time we came back from the buffet.

Every member of staff we came across was friendly and helpful.

We would certainly stay here again!

We just returned from a stay here booked on "Great Little Breaks" to celebrate our engagement. We had a great time & would highly recommend the hotel All the staff from reception to house keeping were concerned with our wellbeing The food was amazing; rooms large & well equipped and toilets in the restaurant were, to quote my fiance, the best he's ever seen!

Me and my partner stayed at this hotel for a family wedding that was taking place. The hotel was clean, peaceful and the staff were very helpful. The breakfast was delicious although the toaster is in need of an upgrade I think!! The only downside I had was that the room we stayed in was meant to be a 'deluxe double' but it was a little bit old fashioned and had a 'worn out' feel to it. It was well maintained though. Would definitely recommend this hotel for a nice country break.

Room Tip: We had a brief visit to a friends room on the ground floor and they were beautiful. Try and get a ro...
