Over the years I have visited The Freemason's, in Nosterfield, for lunch and a pint quite a number of times. Sadly, for quite a while it was closed at lunch times and I really missed it! The current landlord tried lunchtime opening again and has persevered, I'm really pleased to say. I had lunch there this week and was very pleased - good quality food at a reasonable price, together with a good selection of cask ales. I really enjoyed my liver and bacon whilst my mates enjoyed equally their steak and ale pies with chips . The portions were generous, the veg cooked just right, everything was delicious and no pattern remained on the plates at the end of the meal!
The landlord was very friendly, welcoming and helpful - even checking some info' on the net for us. The pub itself is comfortable, full of character and plenty of interesting memorabilia of all sorts and often has a roaring fire in the hearth. I recommend that you give it a try - I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
