“Great night at the red lion!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2013

Just spent one night at the red lion hotel at burns all which was fantastic groupon value!
The cottage was immaculate and very comfortable and the facilities were excellent.
Dinner was very good in lovely surroundings and even our dogs were very welcome!
Breakfast was 5star! The choice was better than most hotels we have stayed in!
We would highly recommend this place to anyone!

I believe in being fair and sharing good and bad opinions and my last review was critical of the hotel. I was not expecting great things on returning for a family get together however I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the meal. I had stuffed mushroom starter (absolutely gorgeous) and pork/leek sausages with mash. I also pinched some chips from my daughter which were delicious! Best chips I have ever had!! Well done to the chef a fantastic meal for 20 people all delivered at the same time...would highly recommend. It exceeded my expectations and I would return again as things are going in the right direction.............................................................................................

Stayed here on horrible rainy night in May which seemed to put off a lot of people as it was quiet the evening of our arrival. I can see this being a very popular location and some reviewers clearly feel too many visitors have spoilt it's charm but our stay was excellent. Took advantage of a Living Social deal for two small double rooms with compact shower. Don't be misled! This is an accurate description. They are not big rooms but we were very impressed at how well they manange to cram everything you need in them. They are cosy and well appointed. We had room 37 which had a big double bed and just enough room for our few bags and things. There were some lovely touches including cafetiere and filter coffee in room (That made it for me!) and lovely Molton Brown toiletries in Shower room. Everything worked and was clean and tidy.

Next morning breakfast was one of the best I've had in a long time and the service was excellent (maybe again because there weren't many people) but everyone was attentive and helpful in fabulous surroundings.

Overall I would thoroughly recommend this location, just perhaps avoid busy periods.

Room Tip: Our boys had room 38 on top floor which seemed slightly smaller than ours with no window in shower r...

Stayed here on Tuesday 14-5-13 to quietly celebrate my bride to be,s birthday. Everything from the food drinks staff and accommodation were top drawer.
We shall definitely be returning, sooner rather than later and would highly recommend the Red Lion to anyone as base to explore the Dales.

I stayed here for one night last weekend. It was alright; nothing special, a bit old, a bit tired, service a little slow and check in poorly organised (physically and in personnel terms). Room wasn't dirty as such but felt like it could do with a thoroughly good clean. Horrible teddy bear on bed that I lifted off by one ear onto the floor, as I did with some rather too used cushions. Was surprised to have clear glass in the bathroom window on ground floor with a public footpath right outside! Needs some TLC.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 1 night stay here and was everything we expected and more, love the little touches of Malton Brown products in the bathrooms.
Our room was comfy and spacious and overlooked the front of the hotel having a lovely view of the river and the fells.
We would definately stay here again, breakfast was hearty and a great start for the day should you go out for a walk, which due to the location is excellant.
Would recommend this to anyone, good value for money.
Can't wait to stay again.
All staff helpful and friendly.
