“Perfect location to relax”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2014 via mobile

I stayed at Moulay Yacoub hotel with my husband for one week in April. We had a lovely break in a very relaxing atmosphere. The hotel was very clean and nicely decorated. The pool area was bright and cheerful. The staff were happy to serve drinks at the pool, which was really kind. The staff are extremely helpful, friendly and professional. I commented that I liked the roses around the hotel and was given a beautiful vase to have some in our room. On arrival to the hotel we realised that our travel adapter was incompatible, the bar man took it and adapted it for us. He then organised an english speaking guide to take us to the amazing Medina in Fez. The restaurant offers a varied menu, and again the waiting staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The local thermal spa, was a lovely experience only a short walk through the local village Moulay Yacoub. (That in itself is an experience.) The only negative side is the distance to the city of Fez, A Grand taxi cost 150 dirham each way, this adds up quickly over a week long stay. However You could take a local bus into Fez.
I would recommend this hotel to anybody that is looking for a relaxing break in a beautiful country. Thank you to everyone at the hotel for the perfect holiday.

This is a four star hotel with limited services but the necessary is there. a good and quiet room, a nice restaurant for breakfast and a lovely quiet bar for your drinks. this all you need especially when you travel in winter. Our aim is the use the thermal station which is at about 2 kilometers from the hotel, this is what has helped us a lot as we use to go down walking.
Our stay was excellent and would like to present our special thanks to the manager and his team that has made our stay as compfortable as it should be.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the north side of the hotel.

Our party was booked into this hotel because the hotel pre- booked in Fez could not meet its obligation to accommodate the party at the last moment. Arriving at The Moulay was thus considered to be a down- grade. The disadvantage for us that we were some 20 kilometres outside the city of Fez which meant a lot of extra coach drives for a 3 day stay. The hotel is a bit tired and could do with some renovation. The food was not very exciting but the staff did their best . The rooms had all the basics and reasonably well appointed - all with private balconies but the bathrooms and rooms need a make over. However the location high up in the hills is fabulous and the scenery is breathtaking- splendid view of the minaret of local mosque. If you want a good walk take a track down the valley and you will find a delightful little town/village bustling with local life tucked away out of site. If you have transport and want a quiet scenic get-away from the city of Fez the fresh air and scenic landscape will appeal.

Didn't intend to go to this hotel but our party was bumped out of our booked hotel in Fes. The setting is lovely and the beds were a good size and the pool is quite good but those are about the only positive things. The whole place feels like it hasn't been touched for 30 years, with peeling paint and dark interiors. There was orange peel and dust between our beds and cockroaches in the bathroom. The food was OK but nothing remarkable though people did praise the omelettes at breakfast. Too remote from Fes to make it accessible eg for evenings so I would only recommend it if you want to be in the countryside. Not quiet at all by the way - calls to prayer heard clearly and the noise of people talking carried in the corridors, as did the noise of kitchen staff from 6 a.m. and some machine thumping away half the night.

Room Tip: keep away from rooms near kitchen and dining room

This is more or a romantic getaway than a city break hotel. Whilst it is very remote, it is also beautiful. Driving to the hotel through the countryside and the mountains is an experience itself - however make sure you negotiate the price with the driver before leaving!! (From Fés airport, price should be 300 dhms).

The food here is not Moroccan. It is British food - awful British food at that. The 'salade mixte' contained pineapples, apples, carrots, bananas, salad leaves, olives, fish....bit of a medley from the kitchen really!

However, if you are not planning on staying here for that long and you can deal with average food, this place is a pretty cool for a stopover. Good views, nice staff and very relaxed.

Room Tip: Make sure you request a room with a balcony.

I already read a review about this place saying that the moment you left they would come after you for money, next time I will listen to what people say here on the reviews: I got there on a Friday and the gentleman at the front desk gave me a 45€ deal for 2 nights, I payed and was tired from the trip and forgot to ask for an invoice, on Monday that gentleman was not working, and the people there would not let me leave the hotel and tried to extort 45 more euros, saying I didn´t pay, they yelled and insulted me for 1 hour under the scorching sun, and was held against my will, they would not let me go, I was totally terrorised by these people, crying to the top of my lungs, and asked a modern looking Morroccan lady to call the police, to my surprise she went and payed the 45€ and they let me go, i couldn´t believe it, one of the most surreal situations in my life
