“Chuffed to find!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2014

Malta is a fantastic place with fantastic people but after living here for a year I would have to say that finding a good Bar, with good banter behind the bar and good quality and good value food is difficult to find.

This place has it all great Thai food, great selection of Belgian beers and decent wine.It is the sort of Bar/Restaurant that the second time you visit you already feel like it's your regular.

Keep up the good work lads

“Proof that customer service is still alive in Malta!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2014

Having lived in Malta for over a year, I feared the extinction of 2 endangered species in Malta...... Good service and a friendly bar.....

Thankfully Times Gone By have shown me that customer service and a bar that appreciates its clients is alive and well. The staff are extremely helpful, the food is delicious, the beers flow freely, and the music sets the rhythm for an eclectic atmosphere where nobody is a stranger and the conversation flows from table to table.

I cannot recommend this place enough to anyone in Malta looking for a quality establishment!

“A place to call your second home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2014

This place is not one of the biggest bars in the world but it's one of the most homely.

The food is served with love just as your grandma cooked it back in the old days. And any bad day can be turned into a friendly laugh. I can only compare this bar to the old tv program called "cheers" it's the same concept that you are welcomed like family and everyone around soon warms up to you.

I love this place for great lunches of to relax at any point in time in the day. A must visit if you are hitting the rock looking for ice cold beers, some friendly chit chat and great advice about the island.

“Fills two gaps in the market”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2014

Malta has two "problems" for people who, like me, like to enjoy different culinary traditions.
1- There are no places where you can get Thai for cheap.
2 - Very few places have a diverse range of beers.
Times Gone By addresses these lacunae. It brings a large selection of continental (largely German, French and Belgian) beers under one roof along with the more common local varieties, and it offers genuine Thai food for reasonable prices. The service is friendly, and we shall definitely return. Possibly soon.

“Thai food in Malta and 40+ beers!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013

Small+charming, sometimes surprisingly busy bar offering vast choice of canned and bottled beers from different countries. The friendly and rather diverse audience knows each other by their first names, although regulars don't necessarily weigh out new customers. Secret tip: the excellent Thai food home made by Ferrie's wife. Not expensive but really good. This bar is at least worth a try.
