“A collapsing Fawlty Towers with no humor”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

Try to avoid this so called hotel!!! The legendary Fawlty Towers was the "Ritz" compared to this dump. Very rude and unfriendly staff with an "Soviet mentality". Breakfast was quite terrible with dry and geriatric bread of former seasons. Room was practically falling apart and it's bathroom even worse. It was constructed with the cheapest materials. The price was completely overpriced to what you get. The only light point is its central location. On the whole it was an very unpleasant experience.

Zabljak is a rather sad place, at least in springtime. Most hotels and houses seemed to be totally run down and maintenance a thing unknown. Hotel Javor was pleasant, though not very fashionable. Nice one person staff in the evening and very good wholesome, home made food. Good wine. Room was fine, clean and nice and quiet. Abundance of fresh mountain air. All in all very good value for money at only 24 euro a night.

Do you sometimes get a feeling that people who are supposed to help you and welcome you at the hotel are doing it free of charge and consider it as a huge favor? Hospitality represents a huge issue here. The hotel itself is a crappie 'renovated' house, whereby all items and materials used are the cheapest ones that you can find in the market. Food taste like it stayed in the fridge for weeks and that put in the oven just to get a warm flavour.
Overall terrible experience, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

After seeing some reviews on trip advisor and the recommendation in Roughguide, we booked at Hotel Javor. When we arrivied, our room was tiny! The walls were paper thin so you could hear everything in the entire hotel. Bedding did not look adequately clean and the bed was extremely soft. Would not stay here again. Coffee with the breakfast tasted like it was made with sewer water.

They did help arrange our rafting trip but I later realized they charged an extra 5 euro per person.

My wife and I stayed in the Hotel Javor for the first four nights of our honeymoon in Montenegro. Reasonably priced and located 15 minutes from the Black Lake it made a great base to explore Durmitor National Park. The room was of a good size, clean and very warm when the heating came on. The food tasted fantastic and was excellent value, and if you like your coffee industrial strength then Hotel Javor is the place to stay.

Arrived in Zabljak after a long drive up from the Coast via the Ostrog Monastary - weather was rubbish - cold and cloudy considering it was 31 degrees on the coast. Booked hotel as had good reviews in Rough Guide. Seemed like a nice place Zablijak although probably much better in the sun! Hotel was ok but double room was tiny - I got the feeling the owner wasn't expecting us but he had a room anyway. Breakfast was reasonable but I am sure there are better options in the town for places to stay.

Although the hotel owner laughed when I said we had a reservation, we were promptly provided with a clean but very small room. However, we were moved into a larger room the next day.

Hotel Javor has the atmosphere of a family-run business from the 1970s! Quaint and efficient; a little on the basic side, but comfortable and clean. The staff were friendly and booked us on an excellent rafting trip on the Tara river.

Breakfast was an experience, depending on how prepared you are for traditional Montenegran dishes first thing in the morning. My ham omlette was always delicious. Just don't ask for coffee!!!! Cappuccino is a much safer bet.
