“5 nights of heaven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

Prompt pick from airport. Casa is 10 mins drive away. Sat in nice reception area where we were advised all about the place.
We had a sea front room called Angin, with so many nice little touches to make us feel special with soaps to shampoo's. Outside the room you have your own little garden where you can relax. Feet washing facilities to remove the sand is a nice touch.

Towels exchanged daily for beach and pool use. Peanuts and biscuits, coffees, teas etc replenished daily.Iced water / fruit lollipops FOC.

Breakfast is excellent, nice Al a carte choices, fresh fruit service and to die for fruit juice. There is a PC in the main quarters for all , however WIFI is free and well distributed.

Beer is 16 RM per glass and nice.

Evening meal we ate from their restaurant once on the beach, it was for us not the best of meals - meat was fatty and the soft crab was well, lets say not the best. Price was 396RM including beers. The setting and sunset for the meal was beautiful and one we will always remember.

The place overall is very nice, you are well looked and yes I would go there again.

Only problem about the place is the quality of the beach sand and sea water. The sand has many shells and sea water is not clear at all, so we did not bother with snorkelling and scuba diving here. They do however rake the beech with 4 wheel drive car and raking unit attached behind to help comb the beach and its shells.

Turning left from the Casa beach, there are many beach bars and restaurants. Th
e Casa is centrally based with lets say 1km both left and right of beach front sea to walk.
We went jet skiing for 30mins cost 110RM each but on 1500CC bikes.

They offer free kayak hire to a small island maybe 30 mins away. We also used FOC mountain bikes which again was enjoyable.

We hired a car for one day through the hotel costing 146RM - Driving is same as UK, Langkawi is a lovely small island, you must go to the cable car.

Friendly staff at Casa and made us feel most welcome.

If you want to relax and want some luxuries in life, then this place is a must.

The Casa Del Mar was the final stop on our tour of Malaysia and, given the excellent reviews on Tripadvisor, our expectations were very high. I'm pleased to say we were not disappointed. You really feel that they try to anticipate all your needs: lovely toiletries; tea, coffee and biscuits in the room; ample bottled water; complementary fruit on the beach. They even provide a 'departure lounge' for people with late flights where there is a shower that you can use to freshen up if you want to spend your last few hours in the sun.
We ate in the restaurant a couple of evenings and the food was very good and not overpriced.
The staff seem to genuinely enjoy their work and go out of their way to make guests feel welcome.
This is obviously a justifiably popular hotel and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Room was allways Very clean and there was fruits and water bottles every day. Pool area and the beach was Very clean and also there you got everyday fruits and icejuice and water. Best part of the Hotel was personal. So helpfull and friendly and allways smiling personal I have not meet early. Also hotels restaurant offered best food and service at the Langkawi Island (breakfest and Dinner). My wife had birthday during this week and Hotel noticed that since breakfest to Dinner. Hotel is quite small, only 36 Rooms, which is main reason so good and intimate feeling at the Hotel. You can sit at Bar and talk whit others gest of the Hotel, fi you want...

Here are the reasons why Casa Del Mar is the best hotel at Cenang Beach
- We were greeted by Tom the general manager at arrival who offered great advice on the best activities around Langkawi
- The room is spacious with all the amenities you would expect, decent toiletries, free bottled water, cookies and nuts, large and fluffy towels, 4 beach towels etc..
- The night turn down service is done very discreetly and they light a scented candle and turn on the music
- There is fresh milk in the fridge for your coffee/tea which I don't see very often even in the best hotels
- The pool temperature is perfect and you get complimentary fruits and water throughout the day
- The bar staff are very friendly and make great cocktails.
- Dinner at the Casa del mar restaurant is the best around the area, the tables are often booked out
- There is a free DVD and book collection for guests

Reason why I did not give it 5 star is in the tiny details which did not dampen our experience in any way
- The TV in the room only had 3-4 English channels and a couple of them did not work while we were there, but the DVDs kept us thoroughly entertained
- The room had filter coffee makers, but the coffee provided were instant coffee so there is no need for it
- There is a free loofah in the shower but no shower gel
- Dinner service is good while breakfast service can be spotty, which I think is due to less staff being available during breakfast time

Also another reason why I could not give 5 stars is that we have stayed at another hotel in Lombok with private pool in the villa, near equal level of amenities and better service at a fraction of the price.

Room Tip: If you choose a room facing the pool then other guests would be able to peek into the room quite eas...

I only have one complaint about the Casa Del Mar....The fact that at the end of your stay you have to pay your bill and leave.......
The staff at this hotel made our stay. They go beyond the normal call of duty to make your stay as relaxing and enjoyable as possible. I came here for my honeymoon, staying for 6 nights. We had a beach front room. The sound of the waves in the morning just started the day off.
The room was serviced twice a day at a time to suit us. Mostly we didn't even notice it being done when we where at either the pool or the beach. While at the beach we got served iced water, fruit, cold towels to keep us cool.
For the romantics amoung you the LaLuna dining experience is a must if you have something special to celebrate. 7 course meal under the stars on the beach or as in our case as the weather was not too favourable under cover on the beach. This brings me onto the food, I could not find fault with it. If things were not quite right then it was changed without question. The wife does not like mayonaise so one dish was returned on our last day. Our only comment about the food is that it is too fussy for us. Going to somewhere like Malaysia we like eating like the locals do, but this is only a personal preference. If you want to eat out there are plenty of places within a 5-10 minute walk. Shops with local merchandise are also just outside. Any trips or outings you want to book can be done in reception where again the staff are very friendly and helpful.
In summary this place fully deserves the No1 listing on Trip Advisor. Tom has brought together a great team who go above and beyond the call of duty. I have never had a stay to match this place and I'm a well travelled person from my business trips.

Room Tip: Beach Front is just perfect.

We recently (Sept 2013) stayed a weekend at CDM. What a wonderful experience. It was restful, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Our room was literally steps from the beach. While I cannot speak for the crowd at other times of the year, the beach at CDM was not packed in the least. Just a few people strolling by occasionally. Since CDM is a small hotel, it felt very cozy and we had a wonderful weekend. Highly recommend it for a peaceful time at a beach hotel.

Choosing hotels based on travellers' reviews is a "hit or missed affair" - sometimes their reviews are spot on and sometimes they are not what you expect. However, for my husband & I choosing Casa Del Mar for our stay in Langkawi from 14 September to 16 September 2013 was a good choice. I wanted to be near the beach, and at first I was undecided whether to take the sea view studio or the beach front studio. I chose the sea view studio because it costs slightly less and everything is the same between the sea view studio and the beach front studio (size, amenities etc) except that the beach front studio is nearer to the beach. I'm glad I made that choice & you actually need not worry because all rooms are facing the sea and near the beach. Check-in was quick and we were given cold towels and refreshment while waiting. Casa Del Mar is a boutique hotel with only 34 rooms, so everything is near- you don't have to walk far to your room, to the restaurant, to the pool etc. The staff were friendly and obliging. The location is excellent, 10 minutes drive from the airport. There are many shops selling gifts and souvenirs , eating out is not a problem because there are plenty of restaurants nearby. Breakfast was excellent, buffet + a selection of hot/freshly cooked food from a menu. I would have given Casa Del Mar a 5 star rating if not for a couple of small "glitches" - my husband forgot to bring his toothbrush and the hotel doesn't provide any & if you have a car you'll have to park it by the roadside because there's no dedicated parking for hotel guests. Actually I wanted to rate it 4.5 but it's either 4 or 5 only.
