“Best budget hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2012

The hotel is really superb! All the furniture is very new, nice design, VERY CLEAN. Though the room was quite small, there was everything we needed - comfy bed, kettle + coffee, towels, amenities, shower cap, and etc! Very good value for this money. I loved the smell in the rooms (smth like vanilla). The hotel looks very safe as well! Big thanks to the staff - they are the best there as well! Very friendly and helpful, will always give good advise or assist you! Location wise is very comfortable - not far away from ferry, in the town, close to Legendary Park, Eagle Square.

We spent a night in this hotel and it was an extremely pleasant stay. I had made a reservation through the phone a week before the stay but I had to change my dates and the hotel staff (Fadzlan) was kind enough to make the changes for me. During my stay he was more than helpful and friendly. Not only he offered us additional pillows and towels, he also changed a new electric kettle for us within minutes when we complained about the faulty one in our room. When we asked him for directions and suggestions on where to watch the sunset etc, he was helpful and gave us great advice.
Our room was spacious and the shower and toilet was huge! An extremely pleasant stay with fast wifi, good service and clean spacious room.

Smallish but comfortable and clean rooms. Free wifi. Very comfortable beds. No fridge in rooms however rooms are made up daily and nice to return to after a day out on the island. A bit of a trek to the main beaches but there are some nice little shopping complexes in the area. Scooter rental across the road.

Room Tip: Try to get a room in the rear of the hotel. Road seems a bit noisy.

Was here for a night, and although Hotel Asia looks near to the Ferry Terminal on the google map, it isn't really that near. Takes about 6-8 mins drive. Good thing we decided to rent a small car from the ferry terminal (Do rent a car, it's more cost efficient than getting a cab to anywhere else. U can rent from Auntie Travel at Ferry Terminal, it's reliable!)

Hotel is located along the road, so it's not hard to find. U can park just outside the hotel if u rent a car.

Hotel is quite far away from the beach area (abt 30 mins drive) but that's really ok, cos we drove there, and the beach looks boring so I didn't mind not staying close to the beach.

Got upgraded to a triple room though we booked a double room. Room is big enough, and clean. There are abit of stains on the sheets, but not too obvious or big one, so I can live with that for a night. Bathroom is clean and big enough too, with hot water. There is also clean towels available, but no hair dryer and no fridge in room. Wifi connection is ok. There is no breakfast

As we stayed on the 2nd floor, near the stairs, so we could hear when people make too much noise.

The hilltop (Gurung Raya) is far away as well, and as boring, the view is all covered by trees, so it's quite a waste of time driving up for us.
The seven wells waterfall is worth a visit. Nice cooling place for a dip or soak ur feet.. Water is crystal clear and cooling!

Overall, Langkawi is quite a dead town and staying one night is sufficient really.

Dear Elshjj,

Thanks for your comment.

We have missed our usual standard of housekeeping on the stains of our sheets. We apoligise for this occasion and have increasedmore training for our housekeepers and follow up with our staff. We do have hair dryer ready at our front office for guest use. We will improve this, by putting notice at all rooms. We do not provide fridge in our room, but our guest can utilise our fridge at lobby area.

Wishing you happy travels and welcome you back again to Hotel Asia on your next visit to Langkawi.

Booked the hotel based on the good reviews posted but was very disappointed to be given a room right at the back which had a faulty lock. Was shocked when the receptionist said that it was already faulty the day before. Question is, why give us the room when you knew the lock was faulty? Room was subsequently changed but it spoke volume on the management's integrity.

Dear Belindami,

Thank you for taking your time to post this review. All feedback is very much valued.

We apologise sincerely for the faulty lockset and are glad that you accepted our change and upgrade of room.

As per our record, the lockset was functional one guest before your check in. But, we promise to improve our maintenance team to have more regular checking and maintenance.

Once again, we apologise for the inconveniences.

Looking forward to your return to Hotel Asia.

If you planned to stayed 1 night at Kuah, Langkawi (while the rest of the nights by the beach) then this is definitely one of the best option.

The hotel is new and very clean, with really powerful shower. The bed however is not really comfortable and the walls are thin, but since I am only staying here for 1 night, I can accept it.

Oh, the room doesn't have a refrigerator.

Excellent value. Got the room for MYR108/night. Location is excellent too (provided you rent a car, which most of the travellers do). Cleanliness is superb. No frills.
No car park for the hotel, but you can just park at the roadside just at the front of the hotel, or park at the area of the hotel adjacent to it (they don't mind).
Police station is just a stone's throw away, but I don't think they give a damn about the roadside parking :)

Room Tip: Rooms are located on the 1st and 2nd floor, but there's no lift. If you are going with senior ci...
