“Average place...good food and service.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

Stayed there for four nights from the 7th to the 11th of March 3013.

We got a room on the 4th floor, 4105 in the east wing. We asked to get a room facing the sea and were told that it was an extra $50SGD a night, so we passed. Funny thing is from both sides of the building you couldn't see the ocean anyways, so we saved on that front. The room was adequate and everything worked fine for us.

I must say the staff at the resort were all very friendly and helpful, and all spoke from OK, to excellent English which is a plus for those of us who don't speak Indonesian. This was a real plus for me.

The food was quite good and better than we expected. Dinner at the Rice restaurant on the beach was very nice, though definitely not on the cheap side. We had the buffet dinners at the main restaurant for the other nights and it was a different theme each night and the food was for the most part very good.

We spent most of the time at the main pool which is maintained quite well, with everything working right. The place was not too full, though if it was I think getting a lounge chair would not be easy. The swim up bar at the pool did good business as well. Definitely resort prices though.

Now for the things that were disappointing:

The beach. Took a short stroll to check it out as it was odd that there was nobody down there at all. The sand is very fine and golden which is great. The problem is that the sand close to the water line has a lot of crude oil spots about 3cm across. This makes the beach a no go zone, which is a real shame as it's quite nice otherwise. There were scant things going on while we there.

The WI-Fi in the rooms is not cheap. $24SGD a day, or $49 a week. Pretty expensive really. They do offer free wi-fi in the lobby and have 2 computers set up nearby the lobby for use, with a printer attached if you need to print anything out.

Other thoughts: If paying by cash when checking out they will accept Indonesian Rupiah, Singapore $, US$ and Aussie $. If you pay via credit card the charge will be in Indo Rupiah at a fixed exchange rate of 7900 to a SGD$. All things bought at the resort also get ++ added which is a service charge and GST.
When we left the ferry terminal in Singapore we bought our quota of a liter each of beer. Then after arriving and passing through the paper work at the Bintan ferry terminal we bought a bunch more in the small shop there. Beer was only $2SGD each, compared to 8 to 10 at the resort.
Paseh Oleh Oleh, is a 20 minute bus ride from the resort, with only a few scant shops with not much to offer really. The massage shops do great business there and were very professional and the service was very good for less than half price at the resort.

Overall I think it's on OK place to stay, though 4 days was more than enough for us. I suppose if you are an avid golfer you'd be very happy there as the golf courses looked very nice and are kept in pristine condition.

I don't see myself going back there anytime soon though.

Room Tip: Don't worry about paying more for a beach view as there isn't one, though the beach facing r...

“Amazing Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2013

Recently travelled to Bintan. The resort is huge with a clean beach and pool. The service was great and most enjoyable was the food and service at Rice Restaurant. If ever you travel ask for Francis Toni or Andile Islim at the restaurant. You will be well looked after.

“No problem!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2013

We recently had a 5 day holiday at BLR. at first we were totally taken away by the welcoming dance and refreshment by getting of the bus. Check in went pretty smooth and the room was ok, not amazing due to view and being at totally other side of the resort (5029). The pool bar was mainly our hang out where we thought the staff where so welcoming and nice. Especially Antoni putra and ladisamu, but also everyone else went out of their way to make our stay an even better experience! Toni even played our favourite music, he is a very dedicated worker and has a friendly and welcoming personality! If you here make sure you get a coconut with a shot of rum or " the flying kangaroo " cocktail while you are listening to reggae. The beach massages is an abolute must do, the ladies do an amazing job and these prices are ok.The two restaurants we went to where the Japanese and rice restaurant at the beach front, both amazing food and service. The service was outstanding everywhere and this is what made our stay memorable, the local people and their smiles.the only negative would be pricing of food, drinks and general groceries and activities is adding up and over price.big shout out again to Toni and ladisamu, both absolute legends. Thank you for making our stay so memorable and amazing !!! :-)

Room Tip: Not 5029 as it is in the back not facing the ocean

“Exceptional service!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2013

We recently stayed at BLR with 26 friends. Our purpose was a golfing holiday. After a few problems with room selections the stay was very relaxing. We only had to ask and the staff were happy to oblige us in any way. Particularly in transporting our golf clubs from the two courses at the resort to the nearby Ria Bintan course and back again twice. We actually didn't handle our clubs at all they were always on the carts ready to go.
It was my birthday while we there and we decided to have a cocktail party in our suite for all 28 of us. The staff were amazing in helping us to have a most successful and fun event. Joni Palentinus and Valentina met with my husband a number of times and they transformed our room into a party venue and then helped serve our guests food and drinks. We went out to dinner after the party and came back to a completely clean and tidy suite. Wonderful service and all our friends were impressed.
Although the resort could do with a lot of renovation it has a lot to offer in choice of eating venues and variety of food together with friendly service and warm smiling faces greeting you wherever you went. We would definitely consider another visit.

Room Tip: Just ask and they will do anything for you. Consider an upgrade.
