“Great Golf course, decent size, lower than average service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2013

This is the ultimate golf paradise. Both the Ian Finch and Jack Nickalaus course are gorgeous. Ian Finch course is so picturesque that you forget how difficult it can play.

We got decent rooms with Swimming pool view. The swimming pools are open all day...so we enjoyed swimming at night. The beach is clean and pristine.

Service was average. It is same type of service you get when you get to super large hotels...like Las Vegas. Service takes extra long time for even the simplest requests.

Breakfast spread is good with both continental and eastern cuisines. But, every other restaurant and cafe had limited choice and way too pricey.

The billing administration is very weak. I had to go to multiple counters to get my final bill and wasted about 2 hrs. There is very little coordination between various departments. So I was not even sure if my golf bag would reach the ferry.

Also, you have to walk a lot to get to from your room to even the lobby. Once you get into the resort, do not even think of going anywhere else. Too much coordination required and there is a charge (exorbitant) for travel.

There are better resorts in the world to stay, swim and just chill out on the beach. This place is over-reated. I think there are better value and service resorts in the world than this.

We went toBLR 2 times.we confirm as a nice and relaxing place now that Boat Terminal works ended.Rooms are agreeable but refreshing peinture and furniture is necessary.Buffet food average,Restaurants too expensive .Finally the Rice as value for money is the best.Turists from Europe or Asia have to consider Bintan as Singaporeans beach, for quality and price, and not Indonesia.Staff is educated smiling and professional. In our case due to a ferry delay a room has been put at our disposal by the Tcketing Manager.Thanks.Massages and golf very very good. What extremely disappointing pay sgd 20 per day if you want wifi in room.In all hotels I visited was included in the price.Unbelievable..............Massimo e Paola

Room Tip: Upper floors sea face Rice restaurant front because more windy

Pros :
when return, can take ferry from the hotel pier directly & no need to go back to the public ferry station that is quite convenience & save a lot of time
atmosphere - very relax and tranquil
breakfast - good when compared with other restaurants in the hotel
coffee break - sandwiches are delicious

Cons :
room - not too small & not too big. suggest to take out the stand because of useless
bed - a little bit small
Pillow - too soft
Mattress - not very soft, but not hard enough
Quilted cover - not warm & not soft enough
Japanese, Chinese, outsides buffet & BBQ - not delicious
too long queue for cooking eggs???
washroom - a little bit old & need renovation
need to pay more attention on the maintenance for the hotel

Room Tip: select 2nd floor room (i.e. equal to ground floor) that is easier to the beach, golf, ....

I was really concerned when my partner and myself booked 12 nights at this resort last August, as we failed to read trip advisor before booking..... So glad we didn't read all the negative reviews as we had a thoroughly wonderful time. I will agree with some of what is written I.e. The resort is now starting to get tired in some areas but it is clean and of the exact standard that I expected for the price of the holiday. Our room was cleaned thoroughly everyday and fresh fruit was delivered regularly and it had everything and more that was needed for a comfortable stay. The bathrooms were in need of a revamp but they were clean.
The main buffet was also as expected not exceptional but clean and the staff were attentive all of the time.
Rice (the beachfront restaurant) however was great firstly the food , we ate here most lunchtimes and evenings and did not have a bad meal it is a fairly simple menu but was cooked to a great standard. The staff were exceptional two many to name but Mey and li were great and made us feel so welcome.

The service at the pool bar was great the food is what you would expect.

The drinks in the resort were very overpriced but they do offer happy hours at all facility's at different times you just have to look for them. The food was not overpriced it was fantastic. Mediterranean restaurant also great.
I hope that all of these negative reviews don't put people off going to this great hotel and would advise that if you are after a six star resort then pay more for it. I have been to smarter classier hotels but I Paid more for it per night and they certainly never offered the exceptional service of all the staff who work as hard as they can to please.

We got a good deal for what was supposed to be an SGD 380/night room which we got at a discounted rate of SGD 240/night from an online hotel booking website. Stayed for 3 days 2 nights thinking it would be a great escape for the Christmas holidays but it turned out to be one big nightmare! We have to wait for about 1hr as our room was not ready. Our bed was full of ants and the room smelt of bad humidity. The toilet has seen better days and the full length mirror was not even properly cleaned. We could see the expletive word written across the mirror probably done by the previous guest.
At night, I almost slipped and fell when I found a puddle on the floor from the leaked airconditioning system. Next morning, we found ants crawling on our bed again. We immediately asked for a room change and was told to wait as there was no availability. Waited the whole day and only got our room at 4.30 pm. The free archery session when you signed up for their journeyful website was misleading. We were told that it was only 10 arrow shots instead of the one hour shown on the card and if we need to play more we have to pay SGD 9.90 for another set of 10 arrows!! It is best that you have SGD dollars with you instead of rupiah cause their exchange rate is ridiculous.
Breakfast was aplenty of cheap food and the restaurants were very expensive. Did not deserve the 4 stars, it could just be a 3 stars. No wonder they are the only resort available when every where else were fully booked!

We stayed at the 3 bedroom Cempaka Villa over a weekend. Upon arrival at the ferry terminal, the resort shuttle is already waiting for its guests at the terminal, seemed to suggest excellent service from the resort. the ride to the resort from the terminal takes around 30 mins. Upon arrival at the lobby of the resort, the local Welcome dance crew sprung into action to welcome guests putting up in the resort. What a unique way to welcome guests. At the check in, cold drinks were served to every guest awaiting checking in. As the guest in front of us took quite awhile to check in, the staffs apologised to us for the longer then expected wait. This seemed to signify great customer centric service. Checking in for us was a breeze, we were "buggied" to our villa in no time.

As our villa comes with a free buggy, the staff who drove us to the villa gave us a quick explanation on the usage of the buggy. We checked out the villa, the hall was huge with a huge flat screen TV, which is excellent for friends or families to gather around to relax. However I find the coffee table in the centre a tad too short. the dinning room featured a dinning table for 6 in the centre and a 2-stoved kitchenette with a microwave oven and hot water other then a fridge, which is sufficient for one to cook a simple meal. the fully equipped kitchenette also comes with full range of utensils from cookery to cutleries. The master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom and is larger then the other 2 rooms. Masterbed room has another flatscreen TV in front of the queen sized bed and access to the compound of the villa. it also has 4 huge wardrobes at the entrance of the bathroom, sufficient for a family of 4 to fully unpack.

The other 2 bedrooms are much smaller, with each with a queen size bed and a small make up table. hardly enough for one to move around much in the bedroom. despite its smaller size, the rooms comes with large wardrobe for one to unpack their clothings. There is a swing outside the living room of the villa and a bench table for one to enjoy their BBQ food.

Sleep quality of the rooms were fair, they are not extremely comfortable, however neither are the beds poor. I find the sleep quality just fair. There are fans and aircons all over the villa to cool dwn guests staying in double quick time. however some of the fixtures in the villa that we stayed are poorly maintained. The ceiling fan in the dinning room was out of order. when we notified the reception about it, they sent their staff for a check, however their staff merely shreds it off and said there is nothing much he can do about it. The buggy that was provided to us has its brakes stuck. we drove around on the first day without brakes. we had to call up the reception two days in roll before they sent someone to fix the buggy and there was no replacement buggy in the while they took our buggy away for repairs. having said that, the repairs was done very efficiently. we got our repaired buggy within 45 mins. the service from the housekeeping department was commendable. they never fail to show up in our villa to clean up our villa and had all the towels replaced, all the bedsheets made.

the resort was huge and a buggy is a must to get around efficiently. the swimming pool was huge enough for one to soak in the pool the whole afternoon. there are also plenty suntan chairs around for guests to use. as the period we stayed was the rainy season, we did not explore the resort much and only found more activities we could have utilised at the recreation centre on the very last day.

overall, the resort was a decent stay, with friendly and professional staff (though some can really be very helpless) that was readily to render service.

Room Tip: close the doors to the bathroom AT ALL TIMES to prevent mosquito invasion.
