“Too expensive for what it offers”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2013

Plus:
- Easy access, close to Monte Carlo Casino.
- Friendly staff.

Minuses:
- The room was very small.
- A lot of stains on the walls and an broken outlet in my room.
- If you need to iron, you'll do it in the middle of the restaurant!
- The aspect is old and much used.
- Next to the building is the entrance of an underground public garage, resulting a lot of noise.
- Poor breakfast for the price.
- Complicated wifi internet access and poor signal.

This hotel is in a quiet location with only a 10 minute walk down the hill to Monte Carlo Casino. It can be difficult to drive to with all the little winding streets but keep your eyes open for their hotel signs along the way. They have a small lift and the room was nice although small. You have to pay for parking at the garage next door. We left our car there for 33 hours and it only cost us 31Euros which we thought fair. We discovered every morning there are street stalls set up in the area so we shopped there for fresh fruit and bread for breakfast.

This hotel is doing it's best to provide decent accommodation but to stick to an obviously limited budget.
I stayed in room 341 and while it served its purpose i would not stay again.. Bathroom is cramped and you have to be quite slim to get in and out of the shower. There are no amenities provided in the bathroom other than liquid soap in a dispenser. Not even a box of tissues.
Bed linen is only changed every 3 days. Towels every day but only if you leave them on the floor.
Many rooms are able to have smokers so we had the smell of cigarettes outside our door. Fortunately the smell didn't enter the room. Only one room key even for two guests.
Noise from upstairs room is a huge problem. Suggest that you only stay on the top floor which is level 4.
Location is good with an easy walk to most amenities. Breakfast is limited to cereal, bread roll, yogurts and jam. The coffee is not good and you are better off eating out.

My wife and I were traveling through Europe in late April early May. I had booked the room far in advance and upon arrival could not have been more happy. We were in the top corner room overlooking Monaco and even views of the Mediterranean. Everyone at the hotel were very helpful with directions and maps and the little breakfast is just enough to keep you going while you're walking the many stairs in Monaco.

Note: If you can get one of the front corner rooms with the great views it's worth the money!

Decent hotel located very close to Monte-Carlo. Dated décor is nothing to write home about, but it is very good value so I can't really complain. My room was small but it was very clean and the bathroom was relatively nice. Only issue was that there were metal shutters on the window, probably hiding a view of a wall. Note that the WiFi is not free but I think it was only a euro or two for a day.

Overall, it satisfactorily fulfilled the functions of a hotel, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: You probably want to ask for an outward facing room so that you actually get a view.

Beausoleil borders Monte Carlo- it's so close you don't know when you cross over into Monaco. Once you get your bearings, you'll find it easy to get around, and by staying here you can save a bundle. The Hotel Olympia is right on the border- a ten minutes' walk from the Casino and the Hotel de Paris.

The Olympia's staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are on the small side, but clean and well maintained. The bathrooms are clean but spartan, and I do not like the wall-mounted liquid soap dispensers at the sink and shower: I've had better amenities in lower classed hotels. The breakfast is decent, offering cereals, brioches, yoghurt, sliced ham and packaged cheese, and a pieces of fresh fruit. They'll make you a cappuccino, but it's nothing to write home about.

They have a few parking spaces, and there is a secure underground municipal car park right next door.

I needed a room for one night a few days before the Grand Prix. With no reservation, I got the only room available at the Olympia, and only due to a late cancellation. As it was last minute (around 8 in the evening) they also agreed to negotiate the rate, which made the room very expensive, but not eye-watteringly high like everywhere else in the region during Formula1 week. The rest of the year, the Olympia looks like a well-priced, comfortable base for enjoying Monaco.

Just a few steps from Mt. Carlo, this hotel has very good location. However, if your sense of orientation is as bad as mine, I strongly reccomend taking a map with you before going for a stroll. I got lost on my way from the beach and found it difficult to get directions from locals, not all of them speak English.
