“Beautiful place with amazing food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

We had our wedding reception at Trebbiolo on 5th October. What to say? Alvaro and Sabrina were really kind and attentive to meet our request. Antipasti were just endless, full of fantasy and flavor in the typical Tuscany tradition, the ravioli with pink pepper, the pappardella on wild boar, the duck with orange aroma, all was amazing and all my guest just liked it very much. Last but not least the incredible view from Trebbiolo, a magic postcard for all the Tuscany lovers. Must go, enjoy and relax in this oasis of tranquility.

We stayed for a week at Il Trebbiolo. We had been there a few years ago for dinner, and returned for a week's stay to participate in a nearby wedding. Well, the food is still delicious and reasonably priced. The villa itself has some very positive and rather negative aspects. We stayed in the best room (Oliva) in the main house. It was actually a suite. The "living room" had a fold away couch so the room could hold a family of 4. Our bedroom looked out over the valley--a beuatiful view. However, we were right over the dining terrace, so there was some noise, and the children playing at the pool were definitely noisy even though the pool is not immediately adjacent to the main building. Still, I would suggest a room facing the valley. Rooms facing the other direction have no view except for nearby trees.

The bathroom was simple but adequate. The furnishings also simple but adequate--a bit shabby. The pool is wonderful! But otherwise, this is a no frills place. There is no one to help you with your baggage, so you need to schlepp it from your car to your room, which might involve one or two flights of steps. The owners are kind but speak English sparingly, and their directions were almost consistently problematic. (Incidentally--this place is nearly impossible to find, and don't count on your GPS!).

Breakfast consisted of a buffet--all cold. Again, adequate, but not more. The cakes on the buffet were plentiful but not very good. The coffee was okay (how many times can I use the word adequate?).

Dinners remain the best feature. The food is not fancy but delicious and fairly priced. The dining terrace overlooks the valley and very pleasant.

This is probably a good choice for families. Not fancy. Great pool. Reasonably priced.

Would I go back? Probably not. I would bet there are better places nearby.

Room Tip: If you stay in the main building, get a corner room facing the valley

Buona sera
cordiali saluti

We stayed for 12 days in the newly renovated barn. The renovation is done with a very nice touch. In our bathroom you could take a shower with a view of the Tuscany Hills. The spacious room for 4 is equipped with a/c, kitchen and a huge refrigerator.

The view from the hotels restaurant is astonishing. The pool area is very nice and quiet. Sun bathing with a breath taking view of the hills - wonderful. The Hotel is equipped with a gourmet restaurant with a broad selection of Tuscany menus and wine.

Il Trebbiolo Relais is situated approx. 20 km from Florence - perfect for road bike experience - its downhill to Florence and just 15 min from Fiesole.

Three very uncomfortable days spent, isolated in the tuscany hills, in a massively overpriced, ant-ridden, shower-free converted barn, where even the toilet paper was mouldy!

Cold and dank interior - check
Dirty,drab bedrooms - check
Unhelpful staff who shrugged their shoulders at our concerns - check

Camping would have been a more pleasant experience.

We booked a room in a house next to the main house. It was more expensive than a room in the main house, but they gave us "the best room" in the main house. Water was not hot, fridge not working, doorknob of the bathroom door was falling down every second time of use on both sides of the door. Everything was in bad shape.
Breakfast was ok.
View and location is great.

My experience at this hotel was great from the beginning. At first, when I met the Maitre to make a booking upfront, he appeared so laid back and open, I was stunned. In Italy, usually one asks for passports and id, pre-advanced booking, where do you come from ? an advance? I already felt at home, with total trust. Then we arrived on a wedding ceremony day. He remembered off the top of his head who we were and welcomed us. The hotel restaurant was booming. I mean over 80 people were celebrating. But that didn't stop the owner's wife to immediately deliver an extra heater to my room (for you traveling in Tuscany in April you will understand this- they stop heating get over it). She had many other preoccupations, but her sincerity and accuracy in this gesture really touched my heart.
Ok you already understand that I love this couple holding this old place in Tuscany. But if you are looking for a room well furnished and cable tv (we watched all kinds of italian channels like over 100) good hot water, and superb tuscan food, you are on the right pathway.
For dinner you have to try the deep fried zucchini flowers. Its a must !!!
One other particularity, the staff are incredible too. Like owners like staff.
You cant go wrong here guys. This is the real stuff.
Ok on driving out of long driveway, we just happened to stumble upon two deer.

Room Tip: If you are travelling to Florence, and you have a car, my advice is to book a room in Fiesole and th...

We had come to stay in Il Trebbiolo for a special family happening, and what a happening it was! The hotel was welcoming with afriendly atmosphere. In addition, its authentic beauty and the mahnificient view over Tuscanian hills made our stay very very special. I recommend Il Trebbiolo to anyone looking a pleasent, typical and yet unique accomodation.
