3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2013

We got this on a sale rate of forty pounds, and found it to be fine.had a family room, bedding was clean and fresh as you'd expect.room was a little tired but nothing horrible. Very quiet, no road noise at all.a bit warm in the room but could've opened window if we wished. We were in room 23 on first floor. Good stopover for visit to Bath, from Devon. A couple of pubs very close by for food.

We stayed here between the 8th and the 10th November overall I would recommend this accommodation to anyone. It was clean and tidy and even when we had run out of towels the receptionist was excellent and just by asking we were able to get hold of more clean ones very quickly and there was no shortage of coffee and tea I would definitely give this accommodation 10 out of 10.

Room Tip: We stayed in rooms 7, 8 and 9

We stayed here for one night and when we arrived there was no welcoming Receptionist, Just a sign to say press phone for someone to come to you. Lady Receptionist was friendly and amazing - Also doing Housekeeping duties, Staffing Issues ?. Room was cold and soap and cups missing from room, Limescale was on kettle. No free wifi, Next door was Little Chef with Free wi fi ? I would say the price was too high for the accommodation as not a great place to stay.

On arriving at our room, we noticed a mess in the sink and the room smelt strange.

We were moved to another room. It was marginally better. The bathroom hadn't been cleaned and was disgusting.

There was a stain on the sofa and the room smelt dank.

The worst hotel I have ever stayed in!

When you book a travelodge you know what you are getting. Basic amenities and standard accommodation. We booked a family room for two nights. I have no issue with reception staff but the room was not good. As we walked down the corridor there was a terrible smell, once we opened our door at the end room we found out where it was coming from!! The room stank. Damp, smelly and dirty. The carpet was badly stained where a flood from the bathroom had run over it. We discovered that despite booking in as a group of four the spare bed had been made up but no duvet cover. Just a ripped tatty duvet thrown on the bed and no duvet cover on the spare one on the shelf for the fourth bed which it would appear we had to make ourselves! We also only had two towels and three mugs. We went to reception and queried this and she questioned and questioned as she said she couldn't believe that it had been left like that. We ended up with a double duvet cover for a single duvets as it was that or nothing for the night. We did eventually get a further mug but had to wait for extra towels. We made our own beds and washed our mugs but I did expect a visit from the cleaning staff in between our stay but that didn't happen so we had to chase around for toilet roll etc when we got back on the second evening. We reported the smell but had no response to that.
It was nota good experience. Some say you get what you pay for but I do not accept that. We paid nearly 60 a night, which is not a lot. But I do expect to get what I paid for. ie the bedding for four etc and a clean room to sleep in that is not too much to ask surely?!?!

Travelodge was exactly as I expected it to be, clean room, comfortable bed, and this time excellent staff. We arrived late afternoon and asked the person on the front desk where was a good place to have something to eat and they printed out a list of places with comments beside them for us to make our choice that much easier. Always greeted with a smile and hello when we entered or left the building. Travelodge is updating their premises but this one is not one of them but still a good place to stay.
