Dropped in with 8 others including children to eat and have a drink. The food was depressing, I had ham, egg and chips. The 14 chips I was given (yes, sorry I had to count) were woefully undercooked and did nothing to make the flabby, reformed 'ham' taste better. Why do places use such cheap ingredients? At least the chef could fry an egg. Curiously, my 2 year old's Children's Meal, which cost roughly 1/2 what my meal did, was larger than mine with 3 sausages, a pile of mash and a big bowl of peas. She enjoyed it. No one asked if our meal was ok, staff professional but in no way friendly. Views lovely and pint of Brains was in good condition.

Called in the here for a drink and maybe something to eat. It wasn't too busy, but I did find myself waving a £20 note to try and attract attention for service. After embarrassing other customers to complain that I should have been served before them, the barman seemed to get quite upset. The other customers understood the problem and the barman finally served me, albeit with complaints that he can't see everything going on. I did try and explain that it's part of the job, "knowing who might be next, otherwise ask" !!
The food looked quite good so we decided to order. I asked for the Chilli, but as I like it quite hot asked the same barman if they had Tabasco. He didn't know what Tabasco was, and when he did enquire I found The Penwig was a Tabasco free zone.......
We finally ordered Pie and Mash, it was good, and was served by a really helpful waitress.

We have just spent a great weekend at the Penwig Hotel. We had the very comfortable superior room at the front of the hotel with panoramic views of the bay. We could see the dolphins jumping out of the water in the evening on our return and first thing in the morning, what a great treat it was. Everyone at the hotel could not do enough for us, they were so friendly and helpful at all times even when the bar and terrace were packed they still found the time to help us with anything at all. The breakfast was fabulous and we had lunch too and can certainly recommend eating in here. We will definitely be returning.

Brains pub ... Ale was good and Peroni was cold and served in a good glass ... Although the barman did not realise they had it on tap!
You can park on the road (when not high season); food on offer looked good enough, and not expensive.
Views over the quay are great ... Whether you sit inside or out.
Family friendly ... Loos adequate ... And you can stay in the (modest) hotel if you wish to stay.
For the kids: there is a spectacular ice-cream establishment just up the road!!

on arrival we were greeted and shown up to our room ( room 4 ) everyone seemed very friendly including other guests. we stayed for 2 nights the view from room 4 is amazing but we struggled keeping the window open as it kept sliding back down ( so room was super stuffy with the hot weather we have been having. )

we had breakfast and lunch here both days and the food is really good with a lot to choose from i recommend the garlic and rosemary lamb burger it was delish!

cleanliness was good and we were impressed with the dove cream wash dispensers in the en suite.

on checking out we were underwhelmed with the lack of interest shown by the member of staff who checked us out however the cleaner on that day was very helpful as our key card stopped working so she helped us get in our room and let us know about there winter deal and wished us a safe journey home.

we would recommend this hotel and look forward to returning at a later date.

This was our second stay at this location in the past twelve months but we did not consider this as good as the first time. The rooms are quite small but this time it seemed even smaller (room2) than last (maybe because it was very hot due to the heat wave),the window would only stay open if propped up with a waste bin (but we got by) and the bed was very hard.

The service from reception to departure including bar and waiting staff was very friendly and efficient, the food and Real Ale very good quality and price, and the breakfast excellent, the views are stunning whether you sit on the terrace or in the bar.

Whilst overall the hotel is very clean the management could look to improve cleaning in the bathroom as the toilet pan had stains coming down from the rim and the shower tray had black mould around it!

Room Tip: Room 4 has a sea view
