“Lovely place, overlooking the harbour.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2012

Friendly staff, lovely food and a great base for exploring Ceredigion. The Penwig is part of the Brains group, so the beer is good. The food is reasonably priced with good portions. Breakfast is served until 1030, which is great if you fancy a bit of a lie-in. The staff were friendly.

Room Tip: Room 4 has a lovely view of the harbour.

Just spent an excellent two night break at Penwig to do some walking in the area.
Excellent value for money, warm comfortable and good home cooked food which is also good value.
We want to congratulate Mike and his lovely team who were all so pleasant and helpful throughout our stay.
We will be back.
Also had fun taking part in quiz on Sunday evening.

Our room at The Penwig had a glorious view across the harbour and bay. We did see quite a few dolphins bobbing about among the waves.
The restaurant food was excellent, as was our provided breakfast.
The hosts and staff were very helpful and courteous.
As has already been mentioned elsewhere, there is soom noise that is audible from the bar, especially if some of the patrons are raucous. However, the pub shuts around 2300 so it is not that big a deal.

Room Tip: The rooms with the sea views are 3 and 4 on the first floor and the larger lounge-sized room 7 on th...

New Quay is beautifuil though takes a bit of patience to get to. The Penwig has a beautiful vista out over the bay. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room and bathroom were of a high standard: My only criticism was that the floor wasn't very well soundproofed so there was noise from the bar downstairs until late.

Stayed in the penwig three times, once in room 6, once in the cottage and once in the flat. The accommodation is always spotless, hospitality superb, food to die for and the saying of " no smoke.... Just atmosphere " is correct. Since Mike and team have taken over it has defiantly improved and we were made to feel extremely welcome. Can not recommend it enough, my favourite place to be !

Room Tip: Cottage suitable for families, rooms all lovely, flat the best views

I've just come back from a night away at the penwig with my fiancée and my parents, I stayed here over a year ago before the pub was refurbished and fell in love with new quay.
Visiting a year later to find they have refurbished the bedrooms to a very high standard, my parents stayed in room 4 with a perfect view of the harbour and we stayed in room 6, this room was amazing with another wonderful sea view and lovely decor, we especially liked the canvas pictures of new quay.
We ate in the evening in the penwig and found no fault what so ever with the food, and breakfast was just as lovely.
We are getting married in may, and even though we are honeymooning in Mexico we will definitely book a second honeymoon of a few days at the penwig in the summer :)

We stayed at thy is Hotel for one night, the location was excellent right on the sea front with beautiful views of the harbour, but sadly no dolphins, not far to walk to other attractions as pretty central to all. On arrival the bar was very busy, but the staff were very friendly and dealt with our booking, and showed us to our rooms. The room was very comfortable with lovely sea views, and had been decorated to a good standard, as well as very clean. Car parking was a bit of an issue, but going out of season means you can park almost anywhere. Breakfast was very nice with a good choice of menu, I wouldnt hesitate to stay here again.
