“Rest and Relaxation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2014

We have spent a lovely week at Beach house 1 . The accommodation was spotless and cleaned on a regular basis by the friendly maids. The weather was superb so we could make full use of our spacious balcony and the sunbeds on the grounds . Even though the friendly owners Vicky and Spiros live close by they just leave you to enjoy your holiday .If you do need any help or advice they are at the lovely Virago cocktail bar in the evenings .

Room Tip: We were allocated a room on arrival but Beach house 1 has the views

We stayed in Beach House 1 in which all rooms look out over the sea. Only the front garden and little picket gate between you and the beach, which is mixture of sand and small pebbles, but just sand underfoot when you're in the crystal clear, shallow waters. We had Room 3 which was ground floor with a balcony. Spotlessly clean, towels and sheets changed twice during the week. Basic catering but. Ll there that we needed, and who wants to do more than make brekkie when there a re so many lovely places for unch and dinner! Bre like was usually fresh strawberries, Greek yoghurt and Zakynthian honey. Food of the Gods! Vicky and her Greek hubby were lovely, and always at their Virago bar all evening so could answer any questions and generally make one feel at home. Great cocktails at the Bar too! Pretty garden, gorgeous roses out (May) and all rooms in Beach House 2 look out onto the side garden. There are sun beds for guest use in the garden, although you can use the hotel Paradise pool just along the beach, and have sun beds and umbrellas there. There is a good local supermarket next to Beach Houses. It is a pleasant 5 minute walk into Alykes, passing the salt pans, where we saw little egrets every day. The wild flowers in the local country lanes in May must be seen to be believed! So, a super place to stay, even secure parking behind gates for a hire car! Vicky will advise on hiring a car or bike etc. couple of suggestions Vicky, for the rooms to beg even better.. A small towel as well as large bath towel would be lovely (I know, more washing!) also a coffee plunger jug so we could have made proper coffee for breakfast. The washing line and pegs on our little balcony was very useful.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms 1-4 in Beach House 1 are best for beach quick access, but all rooms are fine and...

Visited May 2014 and cannot wait to return. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday away from it all this is the place for you. A small complex of 2 blocks of flats (we were lucky enough to get the beach front one ) with a small and well priced shop on site selling everything you need. Rooms are basic but spotlessly clean and well equipped. Cleaning staff are lovely and very through. No rep service at this complxt but if travelling with T Cook they are a phone call away. We used the next door pool/snack bar, Paradise I think it's called. Very nice and food of a good quality. To eat at night I recommend Fidelios in the town. Fantastic! Good value for money, looking to book for next year!

This is a super holiday-maker friendly complex thanks to great team work. Vicky, Spiros and the excellent cleaning staff make every effort to ensure a great holiday is had by all. The complex includes two accommodation blocks, Beach House One comprises of eight studios facing the sea. Beach House Two is one bedroom flats.
Adjacent to the accommodation is Virago, a quiet bar specialising in super cocktails. Spiro's cocktails are very possibly the best west of Singapore.
.With a total of less than 14 flats the complex is very quiet as is the whole area. With the beach at the bottom of the garden what more could you ask for.

Room Tip: Book early

All booked and ready to return in June. We love these apts and Village so very much. Each year, as soon as we return home we book our holiday for the following year. You won't go wrong with the Beach House. The apts are well appointed, as their name suggests, on the beach. They are clean and well equipped. Your hosts Vikki and Spiros, who also own the Virago Bar, which is next to the apts, are perfect. You won't find nicer, more helpful people anywhere on the Island. Can't Waite to go back.

Should have done this on our return in July, but better late than never. One of the most carefree holidays we have had. I must admit after reading reviews I thought we would be disappointed but it was excellent. The room was basic, clean and more than adequate with air con a must. The views were superb and if you like the sea you will love it here. Rooms were cleaned on a regular basis by some delightful ladies. Vikki was there on arrival and really helpful and Spiros always had a smile and a wave. I cannot understand why this has not got a star rating. There are so many places to eat and we had some wonderful meals. All the people were friendly and the supermarket round the corner was as cheap as most places in the town. Be warned when booking trips (with rep), we found all you were getting was the the coach and boat transport, entry was extra. We always said we would never go back to the same place twice but we would here.

Room Tip: We were on the second floor at the end (room 5 I think). I don't think it makes any difference...

I wish you'd all stop going on about how nice it is - it was hard to find a room to book for next year and I couldn't risk waiting for a last minute deal so have booked for May!

Seriously, I thoroughly enjoyed my week here. Although Alykes was virtually closed while we were there from 13 - 27 October there was more than enough left open for a quiet and relaxing break. The weather was near perfect, the people whether Greek or ex-pat were friendly and helpful and I have no criticism at all (except for the mosquitoes - and there weren't many, I just react badly). Beach House is great - clean, comfortable, right on the beach, nothing to disturb you but the sound of the sea. The island was much, much nicer than I expected though I suspect in mid-August it might be very different. Owners are helpful, cleaners go above and beyond what they need to do, Virago bar is just right.

Room Tip: Beach House 1 - sea view, smaller rooms, cat visitors, less sun in the afternoon Beach House 2 - la...
