We ended up staying at the BB44 Guesthouse because our previously reserved accomodation was not available. The owner of the BB44 was wonderful. She picked us up from the BSI bus station. She also helped us find a hotel for the next night when she had no rooms available. The BB44 also does car rentals at reasonable prices. She rented us a vehicle and gave us recommendations for the best route to follow. The up stairs of the guesthouse has a breakfast room as well as a small den area with a TV. Internet access is available in the lobby for a small fee.

When staying in a country with which you are not familiar, a person who knows the system and is willing to use her expertise to make your stay enjoyable, is the most important resource you can have. Sigga at BB44 was brilliant and made our stay truly memorable. Because she understood how the tours operated, she knew to call them when she saw us waiting hopefully by the roadside long past when we should have been picked up. She also waited up when we were late coming back from another excursion, and booked us in to a last minute trip to the Blue Lagoon. She did it all with grace and good cheer as well. Other hotels might have larger rooms, but the personality of BB44's decor and the lovely garden made the place homey and comfortable. I would certainly stay there again.

We will definitely stay at BB44 when we return to Iceland. I received very prompt replies to my email inquiries, and was very happy with the price and our room, which was small but very clean and comfortable. The best thing about the BB44 though is Sigga, the always-there-when-you-need-her innkeeper. She was so incredibly helpful, and really went above and beyond to make sure our visit to Iceland was enjoyable. She followed up with our airline regarding missing baggage, she called a tour company when she noticed we were still waiting by her curb to be picked up past the appointed time, and the list goes on. She is a very valuable resource to have at hand while staying in the Reykjavik area. There is a bus stop very close to her house where you can catch a bus for the short trip into the city center, and the tour company we used (Gray Line) picked us up each morning at BB44. Our trip was very enjoyable - Iceland is a wonderful country and Sigga is an outstanding hostess.

Hello,

It was my daughters 16th birthday and I decided it would be nice to visit a few countries and broaden her horizons. We flew via Iceland Air and decided on the way back to lay over for 3 days
in Iceland.

Our trip started in Europe visiting Belgium, Holland, Luxemburg, Germany, Switzerland, Austria.

After 14 days of pure fun... Amsterdam crazy... The Matterhorn was cold but we enjoyed Europe.

We arrived at the BB44 but was re - routed to another sister hotel about 5 miles away. It was not a typical hotel but worked just fine for our tastes. The host was very helpful with directions and the use of the internet connected us with friends & family. If you buy a phone card at the duty free it's a great price to use while in Iceland. We drove around the whole Island and saw many great sights. Anyway the BB is worth staying at if your not into frills and just need a safe, warm room.

Jim & Allyson :)

Iceland is very nice especially if you drive the dirt road through the Island. You see many wonderful things but rent a 4x4!
