“Delightful and full of delights!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2013

We first heard of this accommodation from an artist several years ago. We finally were able to make the trip and how I wish we could express our total satisfaction with the accommodations, the helpfulness of the Moricccianis, and the true Tuscan experiences available by staying here. Our daughter had previously stayed in a different lodging nearby and spent many frustrating hours driving to find locales. With the excellent comprehensive driving itineraries and tips Isabella provides, as well as individual attention to questions, we were able to see and do so much more of the area than most. We were up and out exploring all day, but with more time, would have loved to just enjoy the indulgences and quality amenities and furnishings of Il Nido, and the quaint village of Castelmuzio. Our last evening meal was a wonderful patio garden picnic with local specialties from the supplies furnished in the apartment, and items from the helpful staff at the nearby Coop. Capped off with a stroll with our wine through the quiet ancient town admiring views... An Italian experience the big tours totally miss!
We hope to return. The area is beautiful beyond words!

We have just spent a week in Castelmuzio at Le Casine di Castello. We would add our plaudits to the reviews of others. Isabella could not be there for much of week because of illness in family but her able substitute was Carlotta who was the " hostess with the mostest" . She teamed up with Isabella on our final 2 days and what a team! We have nothing but superlatives here...starting with the welcome basket of fruit , vegetables, olive oil, and biscuits. The entire Moricciani family is wonderful. Mentioning their name in any of the little villages opens doors to the finest restaurants who often gave us complementary wine, apertifs, or culinary delicacies. Isabella's guidebooks are priceless and her directions were better than any GPS. Pici making, wine tasting, hermitage tours, olive oil tasting , lectures on Tuscan culture were all part of the package. Our 2nd floor apartment ..for 4 of us..was very comfortable and had nice rooftop terrace for relaxing after a rigorous day of touring. This is an incomparable travel experience and rates up there with the best!

I've been using Trip Advisor for a number of years but have never felt compelled to write a review until now.
Recently my husband and I visited Tuscany for the first time and had a most wonderful experience. This was mainly due to the Moricciani family, and in particular, Isabella, who provided us with a beautiful place to stay, a tremendous amount of information, guidance and a genuine love of the area and her guests!
We were based in the Val D'Orcia made up of many scenic towns and villages. Our charming apartment “El Nido”, which is one of two under the banner of Le Casine di Castello, is located in Castelmuzio, a quaint village of 200 people.
Isabella is a most generous host as we found out upon entering our apartment. The table was laden with sweets, pastries, breads, jams cereals, pasta and many condiments for preparing home cooked meals. In addition, there were fresh eggs from the Moricciani farm, their own olive oil and wine. The bathroom was filled with skin care and beauty products, loads of towels and much more. Isabella was always ready to assist in any way from booking restaurants, massages and to having produced the amazing Red Book compendium of everything to do and see in Tuscany and Umbria.
The Family also offers free pasta classes, olive oil tasting, and special tours. There were many activities being offered but no pressure at all to participate. The bed at “El Nido” must get a special mention. It was incredibly comfortable and both my husband and I found it quite difficult to leave it! We are keen to return to this beautiful part of the world and there is no doubt we shall return to Le Casine di Castello when we do.

Our family of 4 including our 12 and 10 year old daughters stayed at Castemuzio in September. The weekly tariff included Tuscan experiences well beyond the value, including guided tours of Siena, olive oil workshops and pasta making. Above this was the exceptional and warm hospitality of Isabella, Carlo and Luciano, who together, created magical opportunities by bringing all their guests together in optional excursions and allowing people to share and experience Tuscan food, wine and culture in a truly authentic atmosphere. As a family we immersed ourselves in the lifestyle by opting to stay in Castelmuzio, a medieval town of about 200 people. We shopped with the locals and cooked fresh produce from Luciano's garden brimming with beautiful vegetables. The apartment was absolutely stunning, catering for all our needs including a generous complimentary breakfast basket which lasted us several days. If you are looking for a rural Tuscan holiday that underpromises but well and truly overdelivers don't hesitate to book here. Money cannot buy what we experienced at Castelmuzio.

Room Tip: Make sure you hire a car with a GPS.

2 couples..1 week..the highlight of our month long trip in Italy. Open Isabella's huge binder, and off you go exploring the paradise that is Tuscany. Isabella is a gem..speaking many languages and fully understanding the local area and traditions. The food, the wine, the hikes, the restaurants, the past making, the olive oil tasting. The fabulous accommodation in which Isabella and Carlo have thought of everything.
I could go on and on but just go there for one of the best experiences of your life

Room Tip: We loved the top apartment..with a little roof top balcony

Many, many guests have praised their wonderful experiences with the Moricciani family-Isabella, Carlo and Luciano - which we can only echo from our week at Il Nido in Castelmuzio. What stands out is their affection for and commitment to the beautiful Val D’Orcia region-its people, culture and natural environment. Equally, they provide a warm and hospitable welcome to visitors who are truly in good hands during their stay.

My husband, my son and I had a week at the house, Il Cielo, Le Casine di Castello. It was an absolute highlight of our holiday!! We had a wonderful time, met some fantastic people and learnt so much about the life in Tuscany, olive oil tasting and wine tasting! The accomodation was lovely, it felt like home. We were certainly spoilt by Isobella and her family!
Fantastic family holiday!
