“best hotel in Dharmasala”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2012

This hotel was recommended by my friend and i am so glad that i stayed there. I first planned to stay there for 2 days but I ended up staying there for five days. Friendly owner and staff were always helpful and tried to make you feel at home. The room is really clean and they change towel and bed sheets everyday. It's well located at McLeod Ganj and safe place for solo travellers and anyone who travel with family. If I ever visit Dhamarala again, I will defnitely stay at Misty Woods.

the hotel is well maintained, n the staff is cordial, although not a 4-5 star hotel, but in my opinion u get good quality. i stayed in a super deluxe room for 4 days, the room has a nice view and has all facilities, it was kept clean all the while, although on the other hand its not a big hotel, the staff has only 2 ppl, n they charge for drinking water seperately !

Room Tip: if u r spending, then i would suggest going in for super-deluxe cuz normal rooms didnt hav balconies...

Hotel Misty Woods is indeed a lovely place to stay. Rooms are all very nice and absolutely clean. The hotel is located close to the centre. The staff is lovely, friendly and indeed very helpful. This makes a huge difference to so many other places. I stayed in Hotel Misty Woods for 4 weeks and enjoyed every day of my stay. I can absolutely recommend this hotel.

My daughter and I arrived in Mcleod Ganj about ten days ago and Misty Woods has been our home base ever since. I have nothing but good to say about this hotel. The property itself is very well maintained, but the owner and staff are the real plus features.

Located a few minutes down (seriously down) Jogiwara road from the main bazaar and directly across from the nun’s monastery, the location has a real sense of neighbourhood. There is a really good cafe next door (the Chocolate Log) and another one more door over (the Budan Café), as well as two internet cafes and a daily needs store. Not even a five minute walk further down are the Japanese and Korean restaurants that everyone recommends. A five minute walk up the hill brings you to the Lotus Drumstick on the right and up a bit on the left is the Peace Café. All of these places serve fresh, healthy food that sits quite well on the Western tummy. There is also a well-frequented Indian restaurant that we enjoyed, so no shortage of necessities right here.

The rooms are lovely, spacious and clean. If you’re staying for a while, ask for a kettle. The rooms range from a self-contained apartment, through super-deluxe rooms that are sort of like mini-suites to more simple rooms, but all have in-room washrooms. The washroom is a mix of Indian and Western with Western style toilets and a shower, but no actual shower enclosure, so we mostly stick to the Indian style bucket and bench provided, but the shower is there and works well if that’s your preference. Laundry service is available daily and at fairly reasonable rates.
The staff are the real stars of this place. It is not possible to express how helpful and supportive they have been, not just to us, but to all of the guests here. If we do not want to go out for breakfast or dinner, the young men who stay here will go out to bring us “home” take out meals. We always feel safe and well-cared for. Staying in a tourist town for any length of time can be a challenge, but both the owner and the manager live down in Dharamshala and often will pick up necessities for us that are not readily available here, or are only available at ridiculous rates. They will bring in a doctor if necessary and their advice on where to go and what to pay are invaluable.

This is not the least expensive place in town and it’s not a western style mega-hotel, but, especially for women travelling on their own, this is the perfect balance of comfort and economy. I’ll definitely be back.

We want to spend just a couple of days in Dharamsala but we stayed for nearly two weeks. We spent 9 night in misty woods and had a really nice room for 500 INR what was really fair. Hot water 24 h, Flatscreen, cleat towels ( mashinewash, not hand ) and bed. Small but nice bathroom and a really nice athmosphere ( not just bed and old tv ). The owner and his team of two guys are very helpful and is not trying to sell you overpaid tickets. We enjoyed our stay here as couple again. the advantage is that you are direct on the main road and dont have to go all the time down the stairs there, with are really hardcore. Nearby ( 10 meters ) is an amazing coffee house with real coffee and amazing capuccino. Next door there is also a coffeehouse with the best applepie I ever tried. ( sorry mom, it's true ) - M&M from Austria
