“Perfect stay, clean, peaceful and comfortable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2011

Great value for money, I would Imagine it could be a little difficult to get to if you don't have your own transport but we had our car so it was easy peasy! Right off the A303 near to Stonehenge and a lovely and peaceful setting! All the staff were a delight and I would certainly recommend it as a stop off point or a weekend family break!!! Thank you.

We stayed for 2 nights 26 and 27 March. The hostel is wonderful, and centrally situated for everything in the salisbury plains area. Our 4 bed room was clean and had a great view over the fields. Breakfast was cereal, toast jam, juice etc.
The kitchen is very well equiped. It even has an oven.
The frendly manageress showed us to our room, the kitchen and the lounge.
Now to the lounge, the hostel needs two, one for the instructor staff and one for guests.
The staff takes over the lounge and TV . The second night we were there they sat in there and had a drinking party. I tried to sit at the dining table and read my paper but fianlly had to leave becasue of the noise. Our older teen boys also left shortly after.
The next morning when we went down there was at least 3 dozen empty beer cans and a large empty bottle of wine laying around. Plus the empties in the kitchen.
I talked to the manageress about it the following morning, and she is very unhappy with the situation. Guests the previous evening had had the same prob.
I understand young people like to party, our teens do, but in a family oriented situation, they should really have their own space.

We stayed here for 2 nights in May and loved it. It's attached to a Rare Breeds Farm, and your accommodation fee allows you unlimited access to it! Being an absolute animal lover, this was heaven for me, particularly being able to pat oodles of rabbits!!

Accommodation-wise, our room was clean and the bathroom (shared) was also. I was very impressed with the women's bathroom, with a huge shower (rare in youth hostels!!) and a heated towel rail (also unexpected!). Unfortunately there weren't any double rooms at all, so my husband and I had bunk beds. He's very tall and so had to take the mattress off his bed and place it on the floor to sleep. This is something he's used to, not a complaint! Breakfast was fine - toast, cereal and drinks.

Only problem we had was being so close to the bathroom and the stairs made our room very noisy, particularly when there's very loud American tourists that feel the need to roam the hotel late at night yelling to their friends, and also having a party in the carpark - would have been good for the management to be on site (not sure if they are) and ask them to be quiet for the sake of the other guests.

We highly recommend staying here as a base to see Stonehenge, Avebury and the whole area. Easy driving, beautiful scenery, and the owner is very friendly. Comfortable and good value for money.

I would recommend this hostel to everyone. Although it's not clearly marked, this hostel is super clean and the staff is very nice. The rooms were clean and the ensuite bathroom was very nice. I would go back in a heartbeat!
