“Lovely Old Mill”

Old Mill Hotel and Restaurant

The Old Mill is a lovely old place with great views across the marsh meadows toward the cathedral. You can see where various masters got their inspiration from.
This was the first time that I have stayed at the Old Mill and I have to say that my boyfriend and I really enjoyed it.
The Old Mill is noisey at night and I would suggest that people that like to be in bed at nine forget this venue. The locals are all very nice and its easy to join in with a conversation.
The restuarant was hilarious!
First of all they got my boyfriends starter wrong (pigeon breast instead of goats cheese tart??) but they were very friendly. The waiter in his white silk shirt appeared later in the bar and was then seen the next day taking out the trash! He did everything!
The reception check-in was in the pub and it took ten minutes to get the receptionists attention. I found her out the front smoking.
All in all a good stay. The superior room we had was nice and clean with a flat screen television with free internet access which was good to see. The room (No 5) looked over the water out the front of the mill. The only complaint I have is that where people now have to smoke outside the pub the smoke entered our bathroom via the fan hole. A minor point though.
So basically if you dont mind a bit of noise then this place is worth a try. Its clean and fun. 7/10

“A very noisy oven”

Old Mill Hotel and Restaurant

Agree totally with the previous reviewer. We visited during the very hot August bank holiday. The room was small, and like an oven. That night the bar staff had a party until 2 am. I complained and he said they'd stop but they didn't. He did give me a fan though.

I left my cardigan at the hotel and it took months of effort to get them to find it and return it. Kept saying they would but didn't for ages.

On the plus side, a great location, and lovely pub garden for eating. Family friendly, children and dogs playing in the river!

“Room 3”

Old Mill Hotel and Restaurant

Food in the restaurant good but somewhat overpriced but if you do stay the night avoid Rooms 2 & 3 like the plague. Stayed over Saturday night and from these rooms you can hear all conversation in the bar below. When the owner and his staff talk loudly until 1.45am its impossible to get to sleep. When mentioned on the Sunday morning said 'oh yes sound does travel to those rooms' !!!. If he knew why didn't he shut up.

“Old Mill in Salisbury”

Old Mill Hotel and Restaurant

Nov 25, 2007

Stunning setting overlooking the mill pond with its ducks and swans and across the watermeadows to Salisbury cathedral, a view that has probably not changed in 800 years.

10 minute walk along a paved lighted footpath across the watermeadows to the centre of Salisbury with its theatre and shops, no need to worry about parking.

Excellent food both in the bar and the restaurant, there is a glazed section in the restaurant looking onto the mill race.

Cosy welcoming bar, children and dog friendly, visitors quickly feel at home.

Rooms are cosy, well appointed with TV and internet access plus proper coffee facilities.

All in all a most enjoyable stay, will definitely return.
