“Great relaxing holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2013

We stayed in a one bedroom top floor apartment in the Flora complex with great views from the balcony of the sea.We went in early June so not too busy and we were able to relax around any number of pools,we particularly enjoyed relaxing around the main pool next to hotel restaurant where we usually enjoyed a nice lunch. There are three restaurants on the complex so there is a good variety and we were never dissapointed. We found all the staff very friendly and approachable and all spoke good English. We had one or two trips off the complex and used the complex car service to drop us off and pick us up again and found this very reasonable at about 30lev,there is also a boat taxi a couple of times a day accross to Nessabar. The complex is set in lovely gardens and we had a wonderful time and will be returning again next year.

We have just come back from this resort, it was kept very clean, the hotel and the surroundings it was in, not all the staff was poor, just a few but that all it takes. The resturants on site are wery good the breakfast was superb very good for the money 12 leva (£6) for adults, 6 leva (£3)for cildren.
We went as a family of 5, 2 adults and 3 children with another family of 3, we had a great time the kids loved the pool, plenty of activities every day in the resort.
I would still recomend this resort as it was so lovely the room was spacious, well equiped and you are not far from a pool, the beach is poor if you a beach person not very big and a sunbed will cost 6 leva.
The local is ok 1oom from the resort is a bus stop, the bus conductors could be a bit more helpful though as english not very good. but only 1 leva (50p) to the town of Svet Vlas, loads of places to eat there very good and resonable prices.

We stayed as a couple in a two bedroom apartment with 3 children and their grandfather. Room was fantastic at accommodating 6 people as it had two full bathrooms. We were on the ground floor and the rooms balcony opened straight onto the pool. This was ideal as our 5 year old could have a swim and then get out of the heat in the room whenever he wanted.
Room was cleaned daily with fresh towels etc. quick mop of the floor given and sheets changed once during a week stay. Maid broke the shower curtain and removed it. We thought she had gone to get a new one but it never materialised that day. We asked her the next day to replace it which she promptly did.
On site supermarket well stocked and reasonably priced, with long opening hours. Staff in shop friendly enough.
Site felt safe and older children (11 & 13) were able to go and swim in the other pools for variatey without worrying about their safety. Entertainment team available running pool games ect. but our kids are never interested in this on holiday.
This complex has many rules which are left in the room on arrival, sheets and sheets of them (I never got to the end of them all). One being quiet time in the Afternoon. Don't know if this is actually enforced but the site is nice and relaxing with no rowdy behaviour. Adequate amount of sun loungers around our pool however some needed some maintainece.
This hotel is a mega distance from sunny beach!! Those who say it is walkable must be professional ramblers. We walked the first day as we love to have a walk in the sun. It took over an hour to get to the start of sunny beach. Never again. We caught the bus which is cheap but at busy times a nightmare. On one occasion we were trying to get off, one of us did but the locals were so rude pushing to get on and blocking the doors that the rest of the group were stuck and the bus doors closed. We had to shout to get doors opened and physically shove the children through the Bulgarians! Where is their logic?! It can be intimidating for children at times.
There are a lot of things for children to do such as a small lunar park with dodgems etc. bouncy castle slides and bungee jumps. Commercialised market stalls selling counterfeit shoes, bags and the usual touristy things. They do not like to barter at all!! And simply turn their back on you if you try. Don't think they are attuned to the British at all.
There is a bar street but being with children we did not experience this but looked good for 18-30 crowd. Can seem a little seedy at times.
Bulgarians would not win master chef. Food is adequate at best and would recommend ordering side dishes to complement the meals. The best place we found for meals and staff friendliness was Hawaii the kleftika and sache are a must try.
Nessebar nice little old town worth a visit.
Overall good holiday but unfortunately I don't think we would return to Bulgaria. They have a lot to learn about hospitality. We are fairly easy going and enjoy wherever we go but I could see why the attitudes of people in this resort would put travellers off.
On check out the reception staff would not return our passports until the room had been checked. Our transfer had arrived to collect us so went to desk again to be told that a towel was missing!! At this point I had had enough of rudeness and told her to go through the cases herself if this was her belief she declined the offer and said rudely we would have to pay. I told her no and demanded passports which she eventually gave us. On returning home I can definitely say we did not have their towel so glad we did not fall for their money making ploy. Garden of eden you have a lot to learn if you want repeat custom from the British who like to be treated with respect and common courtesy.

We went as a group of 4 (2 couples) and had a great time. We stayed in a 2 bed apartment for a week starting 19 August 2013. The grounds are kept very clean as are the pools. Prices for food and drinks are very reasonably and the service was great. A good choice of bars and restuarants on site.

Only gripe would be that the kitchen area in the apartment is tiny with the microwave placed on the drainer and no room to prep food. We had to balance the toaster and kettle on a chopping board over the sink to plug them in.

We much preferred this area to Sunny Beach (which is fine to visit the odd night but you do get pestered by reps and more for your 18-30 crowd). There is a marina about 10 mins away which has really nice restaurants and bars.

I would recommend these apartments.

Room Tip: We stayed in 'Anne' block which is close to the pool, bar, main reception and supermarket so...

There is a rotavirus infection in the site. We were 6 grown-ups and 2 children (one was 9 months old) and we all had the virus. The virus is very aggressive with extremely severe vomiting and diarrhoea and high fever. We were only one of many. The level of illness on site was almost epidemic. We spoke to a lot of parents on site and almost invariably they had experienced illness in their children and grown ups. In our building alone, at almost the same time, two children in the apartment upstairs, two children in the apartment downstairs and an elderly couple on the ground floor had the same illness. Every day when we visited or just passed the medical centre there were children receiving IVs. The severity of this illness was different but worst for children. However no any actions to prevent the spread of the infection were taken. The on-site doctor diagnosed everyone with a rotavirus based on an immediate presumption without carrying out any tests . The Medical centre hasn’t even such basic equipment as scales, necessary to calculate dose for IV and to control weight loss from dehydration. Speaking with other families we found out that this happens almost every year. So save your children and do not go there.

The beach is very small and full of rocks, the sea very-very dirty, full of seeweads, and no actions were taken to prevent this (no grate or fishing net installed in order to prevent the seeweads to come to the shore). But nevertheless the beds and umbrellas are to be paid, almost 10 euros for 2 beds and one umbrella.

Main restaurant: food is awful: no diversity and some of the food looked and smelled suspicious. Service is terrible, especially the head waiter is very unprofessional and rude.

Rooms are ok, fully equiped but the cleaning is superficially.

Location is very beautiful. There are a lot of plants and small fountains and is cleaned daily. It's a pitty for such a location to be waised on such services.

In conclusion I wouldn't recoment this hotel and certainly I wouldn't return there.

Just back from 2 weeks at the garden of eden, & loved every minute of it, we were 2 families who booked two 2 bedroomed apartments with Black Sea apartments, we stayed in Anna & cecilia. This is our second time in Bulgaria, the first being in sunny beach, and what a difference slet vlas was, a lot quieter and cheaper, we went to some marvellous restaurants in slet vlas, called kotva, Rossini, & valentines, pop into bobby s bar if you need directions.
Back to GOE, lovely gardens, beautiful pools & the entertainment team did there best. The only bug bear I had was the cleanliness around the pools they were never cleaned in all the time we were there. Gorgeous beach too.
We went for breakfast a few times which was really good and tried the Italian for a meal & take away & really enjoyed it.
We never had a problem with the reception staff, but the bar staff in the top bar were rude most of the time.
Never tried the gym as they were charging for it so didn't bother, got a few taxis & they were very reasonable, all in all a brill holiday & will be back sometime to the garden if eden :)

We stayed 10 nights at a 2 bdrm apartment at this complex. We had booked 1 double and 1 twin room but unfortunately both bedrooms were double as they said all the bedrooms are double!. This meant we had to have an extra bed in the lounge which was rather uncomfortable. The apartment was very clean and the kitchen is adequately furnished although it did not have a microwave which is a must for a 4 star property. The maid service is great and towels are provided daily too. There is a good supermarket on site which stocks everything you would need and the prices are very reasonable too. Additionally it is open for long hours till 10pm which is another bonus. The hotel taxi service is reasonably priced and was very convenient too.
The gardens are beautifully kept and the indoor swimming pool is good size lovely pool. Both the bathrooms leaked after we had showered but there wasn't anything they could do to sort this. Another thing to be mindful of is that almost daily there is a strong waft of sewage which usually lasts for an hour or so.
All the staff we came in contact with were polite and helpful although many did not speak much English. The complex is in a good location away from the busy Sunny Beach - however close enough if you wanted to go there for the night life. There is a lovely fresh fruit and veg stall just outside the complex which is open till late.
It was our first time to Bulgaria and we were quite anxious having heard all the horror stories of crime etc ....But we were pleasantly surprised and had a nice relaxing time at The Garden of Eden hotel& apartments. If the above points are addressed, this complex has the potential of being a good 4 star complex.

Room Tip: 5th floor apartment in Lilia which had a partial seaview. Book the room/apartment on the 4th or 5t...
