Glad we didn't meet something coming the other way (even one of the wild goats we spotted on the hills above) when we took the single track road to The Boathouse. (We left the other way.)
The food had been so highly recommended by others, perhaps we were bound to be slightly disappointed when many of the seafoods we hoped to find were not available. There were lovely scallops however, although the good risotto was spoilt because it was served in very cold dishes. Venison delicious. Chocolate won over clafoutis, because apparently one of our number makes a perfect clafoutis which no other can beat.
All in all, a delightful and fascinating day out, and we did enjoy ourselves and all the little design touches at The Boathouse in its amazing setting. The food was fine, but admit we went back to our hotel to eat platters of fresh fish and langoustines which we felt we'd missed out on.
Would we go back to The Boathouse? Oh yes, but by the other, wider route!
