“Great ambiance”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

Hotel Lauswolt offers great ambiance and nice garder views. The hotel rooms are very spacious, with large bathrooms. It is a comfortable experience staying in this hotel.
The hotel features a big wellness center offering beauty and massage treatments. The gourmet restaurant 'De Heeren van Harinxma' offers great food and superb wines.
The hotel is a nice and comfortable place for business meetings and training sessions. Lunches are semi buffet style and the choice is a bit limited.
Breakfast is served at the table with products from the South Friesland area.

I stayed at this country hotel for a business retreat. Our room was extremely spacious with a sitting area and a king size bed. There was also a walk-in closet and a spacious bathroom. The wet area was the only one that could have benefited from a refurbishing, to bring it up to standard.

Went there in the middle of the winter so prices were low and the place was not crowded. First off, the rooms are HUGE and not just by European standards but by anyones standards. Its almost as if there should have been 2 rooms in our room it was that big. Everyone there is super friendly and helpful. We had a spa day and it was just fantastic. There is a pool that is partially inside and partially outside so you get a kind of heated spa feel. Its very cool. If you are an American, dont be shocked by the nudity here. It is normal for europeans to have a level of nudity in spas. It takes you aback at first but then its no big deal. There are plenty of showers, saunas and resting areas throughout the spa. At night we had dinner at the restaurant there and the food was great. The service was top notch as well. We would like to go back during the warmer days to walk the grounds and see what else it has to offer but going in the winter was just as amazing.

Room Tip: Top floor has the biggest rooms.

Supposedly this is one of Hollands best hotels, but, apart from the awesome location, I struggle to find out why. It is very outdated and even though some elements are very nice, like the large rooms, great beds, nice bathrooms and luxury in the room all around, it has some weird stuff that I did not like.
The pool is very outdated, even dirty. It looks like a public pool and has no luxury at all, it is totally Eighties, and completely boring. There is weird towel service in the room, no idea why I would need 6 little towels per day in a little basket in front of my room. Staff is rude, or at least completely uninterested. Food seems to be michelin star level, but we found it obnoxious, little fingerfood that made no sense, and main courses that you could also find in the Van der Valks of this world.
We paid a fortune and we left with a feeling that we were ripped off.

I stayed at this hotel with my daughter as we were traveling in Friesland. I booked very last minute, a few hours before we arrived. I knew nothing about the hotel except that it was listed in a "Special Hotels" guide for the Netherlands.

The hotel is imposing to see and set in stunning grounds. I think people go there to golf, etc. It is most certainly a destination hotel.

The staff were outstanding. Competent and friendly. They upgraded us to an enormous suite because they thought it would be cooler than the room we booked. I could have stayed in that room for weeks. Beautiful furnishings, beautiful bathroom.

We ended up eating in the restaurant. The food was outstanding, but really wasted on us a bit as we were tired and just wanted to sleep. It looked like most of the guests were there for special occasions. It's a top-notch, with prices to match, restaurant.

not that i am a royalist - on the contrary, but you might feel one while staying in this outstanding hotel. the environment is beautiful and the hotel restaurant - some what hidden - provides for 'optima forma' time for relaxing. the staff is putting a lot of effort in their goal to make your stay memorable. the restaurant of this excellent hotel is contributing a big part in your well being. it's high class also! if you also stay in the hotel ... not to forget: take a bike tour and enjoy the landscape ...

Room Tip: the rooms are spacious and comfortable as are the facilities.
