“Comfortable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2012

excellent location and setting, fabulous meals, comfortable room and bed. One of the better hotels I have stayed at. Superbly clean with excellent ambience.
Do take the precaution to check whether prepayment has been taken before invoice, as you can end up being charged twice so I suggest booking directly with the hotel rather than through a booking portal.

But it really is a nice hotel,

The resturant hotel provides royalty feeling. It Is located in a very nice building iaround a perfect clean garden that open your breath to clean and green air. This is excellent place to relax with a nice book, jogging in the park and having a nice breakfast and dinner either in the hotel or in one of the restaurants in the street just next to the hotel. I loved voorberg. It is a great place to spend two quite days with people you like.

We have been coming to Savelbergh for many years and have always been pleasantly surprised about the high level of cuisine and service. Henk Savelberg is without doubt one of the better chefs of the Netherlands and he has one of the better wine cards in the area. The setting in a stately mansion is exquisite and the staff are taking very well care of their guests.

Strongly recommended for celebrating something but also a great place to have a formal board meeting.

After much research, we decided to stay at the Savelberg for 2 nights and it did not disappoint. Firstly, the location is ideal for visit to Keukenhof gardens, Den Haag, Delft, and Rotterdam. It is set in a very blissful idyllic location opposite and beside parklands and yet within walking distance to a quaint village with lovely shops and restaurants, not that you need to go there for food. Secondly, the hotel itself is very quiet and elegant, with huge comfortable Dutch-characteristic rooms and ensuite to match. The staff were friendly, well-trained, professional and efficient. The manageress, Petra, deserves a special mention for her excellent service and care. Last but not least is the wonderful restaurant which made the whole stay at Savelberg quite perfect! Food and service during breakfast and dinner were top notch. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Savelberg and would highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Request for a top floor room facing the parkland.

My husband and I enjoyed a two-night stay following our first trip to Amsterdam and couldn't have made a better choice. Savelberg is a lovely facility. The building, which we were told dates to the mid-17th C, is immaculately maintained. Our spacious room opened directly onto a large terrace overlooking the back garden and parkland and a canal beyond. At night we couldn't hear a sound; blackout shades kept out the morning sun and we slept far later in the sumptuous bed than we intended.

The restaurant is first-class. We indulged in tasting menus both nights and were intrigued with each dish, exquisitely presented and in which every ingredient played a part. I particularly liked the turbot and its buttery broth and herbs. My husband liked the Dublin prawns and also the lamb. The charming sommelier, Johann, made excellent recommendations and we enjoyed a range of wines that complemented our dishes well. The restaurant is exceptionally well-run. The staff is well-trained and well-informed about the dishes. Service was formal but friendly and we felt pampered.

Pricing in the restaurant is steep. But we savored each bite. Savelberg offers packages, inclusive of meals and, surprisingly, wines that soften the hit. The combination of the lovely setting, the comfortable room, the inventive, exciting menu, and the warm welcome from the staff makes this a wonderful experience.

We've lived in Den Haag for four years, and I'm kicking myself for not having discovered this place sooner. Enjoyed a great meal last night - before we left, we'd booked our next visit.

Food delicious, wonderful selection of wines, attentive staff, beautiful dining room, great ambience - a truly memorable evening. It is quite formal - don't rock up in an old pair of jeans - but that just adds to the sense of a special occasion. We had the Spring menu: six courses, with accompanying wines - great value for money.

Highly recommended.

My husband and I recently toured around Holland, mostly to see the tulips bloom on the west coast of the country. My husband did extensive research about where to stay while we "visited the tulips" and he landed on Savelberg. Well, I am glad he did. It was spectacular! It is a bit south of the tulip fields and Keukenhof, but not that much. It took us about 20 minutes at the most to reach Keukenhof Gardens from Savelberg.
The hotel is located in Voorburg. It is set in a lovely sort of park. It has animals, gardens....just a lovely peaceful setting. The hotel obviously used to be someone's home...it is a large home on a glorious estate. It is just beautiful. We stayed in Room 2 which came with a lovely back porch or balcony that overlooked the park.....absolutely beautiful and serene. The room was lovely, the bed comfortable, the view spectacular. It seems to be a family run business, and the attention you get from everyone (including the cat) is fantastic. A very intimate experience is exactly what we had. You are next to a very large city (Den Hague), but this is tucked into what seems to be a little nature preserve.....soooo peaceful. I found myself wanting to stay there for the entire trip.

The food was more than I can describe...it was superbe! We had breakfast each day and had such wonderful service and food. Dinner was incredible....the food just kept coming! Be prepared for a true European experience with this dinner.....it was top notch. The chef made outstanding dishes, I felt very spoiled.

Everyone at this hotel really cared and it was quite apparent that they did. I would highly recommend staying here. You are close enough to Keukenhof and the tulip fields....it is not touristy at all....you are in the countryside...it is serene and beautiful...sigh...what else can I say other than we will definitely come back again!

Also, they have a lovely Brasserie just across the street for the one night the restaurant is closed which I think might have been Sunday? Look for that review as well....great experience there as well.

Thank you Savelburg!

Room Tip: I am sure any room is nice. Room 2 had a lovely balcony.....really large! Nice to sit out in nice...
