“Getting noisier”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

Everything from my 5-star earlier review applies, EXCEPT that (1) the traffic on the nearby road seems much heavier now (maybe as the road is being widened) and sleeping in room 1 at the front, with the windows open in the summer heat, it was impossible to sleep properly, and (2) they now cater for a lot of coach parties at weekends and one even called in for breakfast around 7am when we were there, which also woke me up. Regrettably, we will probably not stay again, at least not without booking a room at the back.

We stayed in the apartment at the top of the hotel last Friday night, and ate in the restaurant on arrival.

The food, service, and ambience were all very nice, and had we only stopped for food I wouldn't have any negative comments to make.

However, to suggest traffic noise isn't a problem is extremely misleading. There is traffic all night - I lay awake counting the gaps between vehicles and never got above 20 seconds. So if you are a light sleeper beware. If you are used to traffic noise during the night, no problem.

Room Tip: It's possible rooms on the first floor may be quieter if at the back of the building - the top...

Had to come back to this hotel.
Have been a few times now and every time i have had no cause to complain.
Staff very friendly and happy.
Rooms basic but adequate and excellent location.
Food, as ever, excellent - such big meals - should not really eat it all, but so good, do not want to leave any!
Will definately be back.
On my own this time on business but have been with my wife before and she has been just as pleased.

Room Tip: rooms at back do not get any traffic noise but not really a problem as not a great deal of traffic o...

In the UK a place by a main road is generally to be avoided, but not here, on entry a real welcome - a lovely room, free wifi, good beer and freshly cooked food. An excellent find - with hotels like this on the road-side why travel up side roads for the real thing?

Room Tip: don't worry if you get a room overlooking the main road - it is quiet at night

On our way to Munich, we made a 50 ins stop at this restaurant. They serve solid German food (many dishes are typical from Rheinland/Pfalz). Good quality at reasonable prices in a rustic/traditional ambience. Friendly and quick service. Nice place to stop while travelling.

We found this small hotel by chance, but now stay a couple of times each year on trips from home to Austria. Apart from being at the half-way point of the journey, it is great value and excellent quality. The rooms are clean, nicely decorated and comfortable, and the food is unexpectedly good. I loved the huge salad which arrived on a big, square plate with all sorts of sunmmer fruit around it, and the hearty local dishes are perfdect in the winter. The hotel is a bit quirky, with pottery and some local produce on sale there. The surrounding area is scenic and would be good for walking and it isn't far from a wine-growing area, so it is probably worth more than the single night stays we have there. Drawbacks? Well, it is on a fairly busy main road but the traffic quietens right down at night and I have never found it an issue. We'll be satying there again very soon and I'll update this review if anything has changed since August!

Room Tip: The top floor flat is huge - a good option for four people.

Have stayed in this hotel a few times, usually for 1 night travelling across Europe and have always found the owner and staff very friendly. The rooms are very comfortable and always have a welcome bottle of water and an apple for each guest. The food in the restaurant has always been excellent and would recommend anyone stopping for a meal even if not staying at the hotel. The room rates are very reasonable for single and double rooms. Would definately stay there again.Very convenient as located on the main road. This does not in any way affect the stay as no traffic noise of any significance can be heard inside the hotel.

Room Tip: I have stayed in 3 different rooms and have no preference as all have been fine
