“A wide range of homemade items!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2014 via mobile

We enjoyed a sumptuous lunch of slow cooked belly pork, chicken ham and chorizo pie and homemade cakes and scones. Welcoming staff and interesting surroundings in the gallery and workshop of Chris Geall a well known artist who we were able to watch working on a brilliant seashore painting. A wide range of coffee and teas available and you sit at antique chairs and tables some of which are for sale! Really super can't wait to visit again.

“Really wide choice of sandwich fillings, great location within art gallery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2014

We had lunch here during a trip on the North Yorks Moors railway. It is an intriguing combination of art gallery and cafe, with art displays at the front, cafe behind, and the artist's studio at the back. We found the paintings, mainly by Chris Geall, very inspiring. Choosing sandwiches was a delight, as there were around 20 different fillings on offer - meat, cheese and sauces. Pleasantly served, the sandwiches were really enjoyable.

“More of a mixture please”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2014

A wonderful gallery to view local art in the past and we have been visiting here for a number of years . However this years trip was disappointing as in years gone by there has usually been more variation of art from local artists.

“Lovely food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2014

Lovely food and service. The staff were very friendly and the food on offer was freshly baked and of good quality. Spoilt for choice and ended up buying some to bring home

“Pleasant art gallery, with good quality, reasonably priced food on offer.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

We had been walking in the area, on a bleak, damp afternoon, and were in need of some refreshments, so we decided to give the cafe a try, and were very impressed. The cafe was lovely and warm, and the food on offer was wholesome and very reasonably priced. I only had a scone with jam and clotted cream, with tea. The scone was fresh, home made, and came with plenty of jam and cream, and the tea was good. The other members of my family also had cakes, and found them very enjoyable.

The art gallery is well worth a look, and has some fine art work for sale. Incidentally, we were able to see Chris Geall doing one of his pallette knife paintings in the back of the premises, from where we were eating. Very interesting.
