“Trek to rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

We stayed at Cromleach Lodge thirteen or so years ago when its was Moiras restaurant and nine or so rooms that did really have a lovely views of Loch Arrow. We really enjoyed it and said we would return.

As a result, we did not do our homework this time and were surprised that the Hotel has now added 200+ rooms. It was not what we had expected and may have tainted our viewpoint. We had wanted a more intimate experience.

However, the main issue for us was the trek to room we were allocated. It was a cold night and we left the car in the car park to descend 30 or so stairs outside, some lit up but some dark and we felt that we couldn’t see where we were going. Inside, you walk through the restaurant to reception. Quick, fuss free checkin, very professional receptionist. Then down a corridor, up a lift, down along a freezing cold glass corridor (coat required). Up 20 or so stairs, walk a bit, 12 or so more stairs up, across the landing and down 20 or so stairs to the room. Into the room, open the curtains to see the carpark with our car sitting just below the balcony – deflating view, considering it was a 15 minute trek from the car to the room and no Loch Arrow.

We don't have any mobility issues but going and coming from the room was exhausting - not what we had wanted from the experience.

The room itself is fresh and modern. It was spotlessly clean. It was too warm for us and we could not see how or if there was a way to control the temperature. We opened the window which was OK. There was no noise from neighbouring rooms which was good (all guests were probably passed out on the bed from exhaustion).

The dinner was good but the presentation is on the old fashioned side and not as good as our memory of it. The serving staff was remarkably well trained and professional. The quality of the ingredients was good including the breakfast.

Overall the highlight was the staff who obviously knew what they were doing throughout the stay. Slight exception being the two young guys in the bar who regularly disappeared together leaving customers waiting and served two drinks to me in hot/warm glasses.

Cromleach Lodge is the most amazing place. I have been here many times now and even got married here this year. On every visit to Cromleach we were greeted by a warm welcome from all the staff. It doesn't feel like a hotel but a home away from home! The rooms here are superb. I've stayed in all types from standard to deluxe and none of them disappoint! They are spotless, spacious and if you are lucky to get a room with a view, you will be stunned by the beauty of the surroundings. The spa is a glorious escape using only the finest of products. Moiras Restaurant I have to say is the best thing about the place for me! I have eaten in some of the finest restaurants and the food here is up there with the best. The service is impeccable. the atmosphere relaxed not stuffy, the food is amazing. From the home made breads and tapanades to the last petit four you will not be disappointed. From a wedding point of view this is a perfect location. Deirdre, the wedding co-ordinator is fantastic and every request is met with enthusiasm. She really goes above and beyond for you! When it came to the food on our wedding day, the service and quality was the same as you'd get in Moiras Restaurant. No corners were cut and there were 155 very happy guests as a result! Cromleach Lodge will always be a special place for us and we are looking forward to many more visits here! I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

I stayed here at the end of the Summer with a wedding party. We travelled from Donegal on the morning of the wedding, went to the wedding in Sligo first and then made our way out to the hotel. Absolutely beautiful surroundings and seeing the hotel in the distance as you make your way to it, gorgeous.

When we pulled up outside we were greeted by a very friendly gentleman who offered to help us with our luggage, we refused as we only had 1 bag, he kindly then directed us to reception. Check in was quick and friendly and the next thing we knew a very polite young man was next to us to help us to our room and with our luggag, brilliant service. We were in what seemed to be an add on to the original building, could have been very hard to find the room so showing us how to get there was a great help.

The room itself was beautiful and very very clean. Great bed, loads of space and lovely bathroom.

We went to dinner with the wedding party, the top table were served first with all plates set down in perfect unison with the metal lids all lifted off at the same time also. When the rest of the party were served dinner, each table was done the same way. A fantastic touch. All of the team that we can in contact with were so friendly and helpful.

Breakfast the next morning was fantastic, fully cooked buffet breakfast, sometimes with buffet breakfasts the food can seem to look a little "sad" and dried out, but this breakfast looked as if it had all been freshly cooked. Eating breakfast with such amazing scenery outside was the perfect end to our stay.

Check out was quick and efficient and again the Front Desk staff were great. Just sorry I didn't get any of their names.

Will definitely recommend Cromleach to anyone going to the area looking for a relaxing stay and would definitely return.

On arrival a great welcome by the staff at check-in. We were upgraded to a lakeview room close to reception. A great location - beautiful views. Dinner was excellent - good value for money, excellent service and the food was perfect - nice little extras included. We could not fault it. We would highly recommend Cromleach for a relaxing break. We will return. Don't be put off by the exterior appearance of the building!

We stayed in a very spacious and comfortable room overlooking Lough Arrow. The weather was good, and so we were able to sit out on the veranda. Dinner in the Restaurant was excellent, and as good as we remembered from a previous stay. The Apple Crumble deserves a special mention.Buffet breakfast was just ok, which was a pity, as otherwise the food here is of a high standard.

Room Tip: A veranda and view of the lake is worthwhile

We arrived for a midweek stay with our three month old daughter, all the paraphernalia!, and our cocker spaniel. We booked a suite room with a balcony as we knew that we would be spending the evenings in the room. It was an incredible room, with a beautiful view over lough arrow. The room was very large ,very nicely decorated, very well appointed and cleverly laid out. We found the partition behind the bed allowed us to separate all the baby stuff from the main room. There was lots of storage space and we were very comfortable for the entire stay. We have stayed in other hotels and you get that cramped feeling but this felt very spacious. The restaurant was very nice and the food was excellent. The walks around the hotel were ideal for the dog in the morning. The staff were extremely friendly.
One small drawback was that there was no fridge in the room which made it awkward for storing our baby food and bottles.

Room Tip: choose a suite room if you have a baby.

i was very disappointed, attended a wedding here. i was told our room was a superior room. which was more expensive than the standard but was way below what i would have classed as standard bath was tiny, shower curtain was dirty, wallpaper peeling in room, it came equipped with a fridge with would have frighted kim & aggie from how clean is your house!! Complained at reception but nobody seemed to care they had already taken the money from my credit card weeks before we stayed!! tryed to contact after the stay also but again no one replied to my emails- i was very disappointed i had heard great things and was expecting something really nice, i will not be returning.
