“Not what we expected”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2011

We chose this hotel for a two-night stay to be close to the town of Herve and visit our friends in Belgium, and it appeared to be the nearest hotel, although it is situated on the outskirts of Battice, so you would need a car.

The hotel is a converted older house with a very sriking and well-designed modern extension. It has good facilities, particularly for events or conferences, although the older part is quite convoluted, and you need to get through several other rooms to access (for instance) the terrace. There is no lift, and our room (supposedly "superior" )was upstairs on the first floor.

Our room was disappointingly small and dark, and faced the (busy) road and a huge goods depot, so opening the window was a noisy business and leaving it closed made the room stuffy.

The public rooms were very well appointed and comfortable and bar service was good.

There were a great many "quirky" and artistic touches all around the older house part which grew on us as we stayed! (see photos)

We ate dinner there in a party of about 40 people on the Saturday evening and it was extremely good, delicious food and well-presented and served. Breakfast was a huge buffet with optional hot food choice.

I don't think we would choose this hotel again, as it really is too far out of town to be useful..

Room Tip: Choose a ground floor room in the modern part, on the side or at the back of the hotel. This would b...

We have just got back from the Formula One in Spa and stayed at this hotel for the long weekend. Before we arrived we had excellent communication with the hotel when they provided a map for the planned diversions that were taking place and confirmed our dinner reservation. When we arrived our hotel rooms were modern, clean and spacious. We were on the ground floor so had a patio area with a table and chairs outside should we want to sit out. There was a water dispenser outside of our room which provided boiling hot water for flasks etc and the rooms were cleaned each day with the towels replaced. On the first night we went to the hotel restaurant and had the summer menu which was excellent. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and the owners and their family were very attentive.
Breakfast was continental buffet style with everything you could want from croissants to fried eggs and you could eat as much as you wanted.
There was a hot tub which was available to guests but we didn't have time to use this, although it looked fabulous.
This hotel was easy to access from the E40 motorway and only 20 minutes from the F1 track. We will definitely be back!!

The Hotel is run by a lovely family, the Gentleman owner was so helpful. the family has great English and they went out of there way to help and advise us. There is a set menu which is very good value as well as a la carte however remember to ask as we found this confusing as it is verbal not a written menu, unless you ask. Rooms were beautiful and large. The restaurant is so clean and sparkly. There are quirky touches in the hotel and garden that we found endearing. Breakfast was included in our "grand Prix" deal and it was so big we had trouble choosing what to have each morning from the buffet table. Laundry service was fabulous and just what we needed as we were traveling for six weeks so needed to wash our clothes regularly Internet was fast just ask fo a cable. Only down side is the hotel is in an industrial estate which is away from everything unless you have transport, which we did not. We wanted to go out for dinner but were told the taxi would not take us as it was too short a distance( 2 kms) Battice and Herve are....ummm sleepy and shuts down for a siesta in the afternoon 2pm to 6pm. Also English is not spoken much in the townships but we got by with made up sign language NOW lol.

The stay didn't even happen... A VERY RUDE HOTEL MANAGER called to say he has to cancel the reservation after it was confirmed and after I paid a deposit. He said he made a mistake by not closing hotel reservations... but rudely added that the deposit was not his problem, that it would be a DIFFICULT PROBLEM FOR ME!!!

I was hoping they had learned their lesson with all the negative comments but NO!
THIS HOTEL DISHONORS RESERVATIONS.... BE WARNED!!!

I have stayed at this hotel a number of times on business and am always happy to return. The hotel is family-owned and they remember you, which immediately makes you feel at home. The decor is welcoming, tasteful, modern but homely - a very welcome change from sterile business hotels. The rooms are spacious, with a nice little terrace area to sit outside with views over the gardens. Inside, the beds are large, comfortable and there is an adequate desk with an internet connection, requiring a cable. The hotel can provide one for you. The internet speed is fast and the connection reliable. The bathrooms are huge with a lovely, powerful shower and plenty of space.
The food in the restaurant is exquisite, provided by the lady of the family, who I believe is a professional chef. The food is out of this world. Each day there is something different and there is always a delicious meal at the end of a hard day's work. The restaurant is regularly updated with arrangements reflecting the season so even if you're a regular traveller you always wonder what will be the current display.
Finally, the two little dogs in reception provided a very nice welcome. If you're not a dog-lover you can easily avoid them as they are on a lead an in their baskets. However, I can never walk past without saying hello and I get a lovely welcome when I arrive.
All in all, one of the best hotels I've stayed in on business. I look forward to my next visit!

hi,

I stayed there for 4 nights and that was just perfect! Nothing to say.. The new part of the hotel is comfortable, very quiet. You seem to be at home. The breakfast is just gorgeous and excellent. I ate 3 times the "HOTEL MENU" which was every day different and well done! After a hard working day, I had the opportunity to go to the quite NEW Jacuzzy (which is in the park) --> very relaxing.

This hotel is in a park near some companies and a national road but i really didn't hear anything from my room.

I totally recommend that hotel.

Best regards

Matt.

This is a superb hotel and restaurant. Attention to detail by the husband and wife team is well worth the visit. Food in the restaurant is the best i've ever had, and wine is second to none. Area is not too exciting but once you are in the hotel, its a little bit of paradise and the industrial estate across the road doesnt even feature. Dont miss out on the experience of a lifetime to visit Haut Vent.
