“Great for a stopover with kids. Fantastic views.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2012

All good. Lovely gifts for kids upon check in. Room had all we needed and real beds for everyone. Breakfast good with a reasonable hot selection. Good stopover option on our trip south to Provence. Very peacefully situated, lots of families with kids.

This place is in the middle of nowhere right by the motorway going from Lyon to Geneva so I assume most of its business is from people making an overnight stop whilst driving through – which is exactly what I was doing. For that purpose the location is perfect but I wouldn’t think it’s much good for anything else. Grenoble town centre is at least an hour away by the time you have parked. The rooms are clean but look like they have been furnished from IKEA circa 1980. It has plenty of free parking. I would say it’s more 3 stars than 4 stars. Certainly it’s overpriced for what it is. I paid 100 EUR for one night. I guess they were cashing in on the holiday traffic passing through as it was Easter weekend. I would think about 70 EUR per night would be the normal rate for this hotel anywhere else.

Stayed here twice this summer in June and July, one night each time.
The approach to this hotel is breathtaking as you ride through the Alps.
On my first occasion, I ran into heavy rain on my motorbike, so was cold on arrival, but dry.
The comfortable room and beautiful hot shower available immediately were the loveliest I can remember--thank you so much, Novotel.
Then the splendid dinner:wow!
Lovely staff each time, excellent service, friendly warm atmosphere, and just about everything one could reasonably ask for, and more.
Then there is the splendid buffet breakfast from very early, allowing one to get on the road early. A breakfast to relish indeed, with lovely hot food, fresh coffee and breads, fresh fruit, and the nicest surprise at breakfast time: ratatouille--delicious!
Will always remember Voreppe for all the right reasons, including easy street-level parking, locked at night, most important for a motorcyclist.

Room Tip: Didn't notice any pets on this occasion, pleased about this.

Booked a few months in advance at cheaper rate. Family room fairly spacious and clean. Ideal for families with kids - outdoor pool, x-box, free internet, outdoor badminton and table tennis for kids - rackets can be borrowed for returnable deposit. Nice large outdoor lawns, with seats/loungers dotted around outside. Pleasant outdoor restaurant, food nothing to write home about, but was okay (on the expensive side but probs more to do with rubbish exchange rate when we visited!). Drinks in bar expensive. Check your bill on check out as we had to go through ours, knowing it was about 30-40 euros out, and they had automatically charged for breakfasts which we did not have.

If it wasn't for the chance to stay here for half price, I would not have chosen the hotel. The staff were rude at reception and the room was really very dated with very old furniture and cramped spaces near the bed. You need to walk like a crab to get to the end of the bed, it's that tight between the wall and the bed. i expected more from a Novotel. It's a bit out of the way as well. The good part was the view out the window.
