“Suitable hotel in the suburb of Annecy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 weeks ago

If you are traveling by car and are looking for a hotel just outside Annecy, then this hotel might be the right pick. It is located next to the National Way from Annecy to Aix-les-Bains.
From the outside, you believe the hotel would need refurbishment but once inside you will discover the trendy look.
Car can be parked outside (for free) and the parking is closed at night.
Rooms have suitable confort including TV screen, bathroom (shower) and a large bed. The center of Seynod is at a mere 15 minute walk but car is recommended when exploring the region.
There is also restaurant were you can eat tradional French, Savoyard (local) or Italian pasta.

Room Tip: Rooms that are located behind direction Seynod are very quiet.

Annecy is an absolutely beautiful experience. We only stayed one day, as an overnight on our journey to Tuscany, but it was certainly a holiday highlight, and we plan to return soon.

We wanted a hotel that offered ease of parking, and ease of escape the next morning for our journey south. The hotel certainly ticked those boxes, but we did not imagine the Mercure Annecy Sud to be such a good quality hotel. It exceeded our expectations on all accounts. Modern, extremely clean, efficient, very friendly, perfect English spoken at reception, and a great breakfast.

We booked direct, and all communication from the beginning was excellent.

A taxi ride into the beautiful centre, booked by reception for us, was only 7 euros, with a well supplied taxi rank for the return to the hotel.

When we return to Annecy, it may be nice to stay in a central area, but parking would certainly be a problem, and I know that we will stay at the Mercury Annect Sud. Delightful.

My wife and I stayed at the Mecure Sud as part of an Alfa coach holiday. All though the hotel was a short distance from the town this was no problem as a regular bus service took us into town for 1.40 Euros in a few minutes. A small tip is to ignore the advice of the hotel and turn right out of the hotel and go up to the square to catch the bus, we found it much better and the distance is more or less the same. On returning you are walking down hill to the hotel and not up, quite nice after a busy day in town.

Our room at the Mecure was a good size, clean and modern. The bed was one of most comfortable I've slept in in a hotel. The bathroom was also a good size with a shower over the bath. All though my wife and I prefer a walk in shower this was ok for a few days. The Mecure is a modern hotel with a contemporary decor throughout. One advantage is that this hotel is not high rise. Check in was painless and we were soon settled in our room.
Another pleasant point was that there were brewing facilities in the room, a trend which finally seems to be catching on on the continent.

Breakfast was buffet style with a very comprehensive selection of both hot and cold breakfast items. For dinner, as we were staying in a group, we were not on he al a carte menu but there was still a reasonable choice, that choice being made at dinner on the day before.

If all Mercure hotels are of this standard I shall be happy to use them again.

Room Tip: As far as I know they are all good.

Stayed here for 2 nights, not the prettiest hotel but it was comfortable and the food was good. Good for a short stop over, even though one felt that it was like living in a compound.

The staff were helpful and amenable which is slightly unusual for France but then again I wasn't in Paris

Amazing that they had a kettle in the room so you could make tea - how English!

I was slightly apprehensive booking this hotel for part of our holiday in France because of some quite negative reviews on this site and others, but I genuinely couldn't see what the fuss was about. It's an excellent hotel within easy reach of huge autoroute with free parking and only 5 minutes drive from Annecy town centre. We were looking for a good deal as we we're bringing the car to Annecy and needed somewhere to park for free. If you plan to walk into town then i reckon it would take about 25 minutes and bare in mind it's on quite a steep hill.

The hotel staff were extremely helpful and spoke better English than my French.

The room was superb. I suspect that the hotel has recently been renovated so everything is clean and modern. Even the obligatory kettle is there.

Breakfast was excellent, although a little pricey at €15 per head every morning.

The hotel also has free Wifi, but it was slow and unrealisable in a number of occasions.

Don't be fooled by the pictures and the write-up where it describes the hotel as being in an area of tranquility. This hotel is next to a main road, but don't let that put you off. If you're driving to Annecy you're unlikely to find anywhere better outside of town. We would definitely stay again.

have just returned from a package holiday with Alpha Holidays which included a 5 night stay in this hotel, arrived first night & dinner was appalling,(was told its because no time to plan)second night was an extension of first night, but no excuses, was so bad that coach driver(company rep) removed himself from party & hid away to have his meals separate (but had to pay extra for this service!)the rest of week was ruined by having to come back to the hotel for what can only be described as inadequate at best or very poor representation of French food that I have ever had the misfortune to try. I will add that i rang the head office of Alpha holidays. on the day after my first night & was given assurances that the situation i had concerns about would be resolved. It was not. I do hope that Alpha holidays & all their potential customers get to read this revue !!!!.

Room Tip: Do not, if you can avoid it, have the food.
