“Cozy, nice and friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

We stayed in this hotel for a few days in may and we were nicely surprised by the place.
It's a small, but comfortable and clean hotel with friendly and helpful staff.

The rooms aren't fancy, but they are enough spacious, comfortable and clean. The vicinity is very calm and quiet, so you will not be disturbed if you need a good rest (and you can enjoy the view which is pretty nice). The Annecy lake is in walking distance and if the weather is appropriate you can easily get to the old town. There's a supermarket - only 200-300m. from the hotel and if you go further you can find some restaurants as well.

If you need something, the reception staff will allways be helpful and kind.

In summary I can say that we liked the hotel a lot, it's offering a really good value.

* The only problem we faced was that the hotel doesn't offer food (except the breakfast). But that wasn't such a big problem having the supermarket so close. And of course there are some restaurants close to the lake, so in 10 mins you can find some place to dinner :)

I was a little worried when we arrived that the hotel was a little way out from the main town but we would of never got to see the great views of the city and the lake while walking into the main village if we did not stay here. The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helped with questions and directions. No restaurants close by hotel but we were aware of that after booking in. Definitely value for money!

Had a weekend stay here - booked by an agency. A bit old world and spartan - the room furnishings had that very budget look - like some Motel off the side of the road in a 60s US movie set. But there was an in room water boiler with mugs and tea, a minibar with a few items, and lots of heat! Indeed we slept with the door open on a cold winter night to balance the heat which didn't seem linked to the room thermostat. Place was really quiet, modest breakfast... you get the idea? Plenty hot water for the shower - but two small towels... A balance of what's good with a budget image. Sweet view of the Alpes outside our balcony! It is a 30 min walk to the sights of Annecy - plus that's fine with us.

Stayed for one night on our travels back to Calais. Booked in at 5pm hungry and tired after a long day of travelling. bedroom not bad, but attitude of the young receptionist was appalling. When asked about food and drink was told "not possible" although in the literature in the room it stated that food and drink was available until 10pm, but she still said "not possible", so we went to bed tired, thirsty and hungry. needless to say we would not stay at this hotel again.

The Flamboyant was a comfortable, easy place to stay. Our original plan to stay one night turned into 3, as we loved Annecy. The desk staff were most accomodating in rearranging things for us two days in a row, so that we could remain in the same room - not so easy since the hotel was completely booked.
The room was large, with a spacious bathroom and separate WC, also a sitting balcony and a lovely view of the mountains. The area is quiet and the hotel was perfectly quiet. Breakfast was better than average. Parking is free. The room price was reasonable for the area.
The center of Annecy is about a mile away, an easy bike ride right along the lake. There is a bike rental shop nearby. There's also a good bike path along the opposite side of the lake for 10 km or more.
One word of caution for drivers - do not follow the google map directions which attempt to bring you from the Annecy north exit, and are impossibly complicated. Go into Annecy center and follow the road along the lake to Annecy a vieux. The hotel is signposted.

When we first checked our room on the ground floor it had not been cleaned after the last occupants !. the room was very hot and the garden view was of a hedge !

We complained at once and were moved to another room on the first floor which was 100% better. Apparently the engineers had been trying to fix the aircon in the room which is why it was not made up. We could see over the hedge for a start and the aircon was working well. The shower was good and although this hotel is 1.8m from the heart of the main town the walk is fantastic if you go straight down to the lake and walk along the main path. breakfast is good. parking is good too.

there is a big supermarket 200m away.

Room Tip: It is worth walking to the main town but there are places to eat not far from the hotel.

We've effectively got some problems with air conditionner only at one part of our Hotel.
But we found a quick solution to all of our customers and the problem was solved in 1 day.

As drivers from s. france to burgandy, we selected this hotel because of its proximity to the highway and because nearby Anncey looked like a charming town.
Parking is indeed excellent and the hotel easy to find. It is a good deal farther from Annecy than I realized too far to walk practically in the summer (I could walk it, but I would be a sweaty mess when I arrived 50mins later). Taxi will run 15euro for 2.
The hotel and room are as you would expect for a basic/budget hotel. Nothing remarkable either way. Small, but fine for 1-2 nights. I would not recommend the hotel for a longer stay, because frankly it's not particularly comfortable and there's not much in the immediate vicinity.
I was a bit disappointed in the front desk staff. They volunteered no information and were cold, at best. Admittedly, my French is lacking, so perhaps that was part of the problem. However, I've never been to a hotel where I request a map and the clerk simply hands it to me... No unfolding or you are here.
