“specious room but bad location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2013

this was one of the specious room I've seen by IBIS. The room was good and well equipped. However the location was bad fro Geneve though I had a car. it takes around 17 min t reach Monte Blank bridge. but anyway it was less costly than having a room in Geneve
The breakfast was free but it was a joke, only couple of breads and milk even corn flakes are not offered. I would recommend it for two nights with a car only.

Our room was located at the front of the hotel which is right next to a VERY BUSY main road. Traffic noise continued until well into the night. Fortunately my wife and I always take ear plugs with us on holiday, just in case. This possibility should be mentioned in the pre-booking information. Travelodge always make mention of the possibility of outside noise any of their hotels.

Don`t be put off the area. It Looks a bit scruffy but is perfectly safe. The parking was adequate in the Hotel car park and there was a good Chinese Restaurant next door which had a small but good Quality buffet at a decent Price. The Gentleman on reception was very helpful and you could help yourself to coffee and tea whenever you wanted. The room was very spacious and the bed very comfortable. The decor could do with a touch up and Brown carpet is never very inviting but it was perfectly adequate for the two days I stayed there. The Television has no English or German channels, only French, which is a Little annoying in a large chain of Hotels.
The breakfast is small but adequate and they give you freshly squeezed oj which is a nice touch. The coffee is good but the tea is awful (take 2 tea bags). The 61 bus takes you straight into the centre of Geneva from outside the Hotel for 4 euros and they run very often. All in all, a clean, simple place to stay.

The hotel is easy to find and there was adequate free parking adjacent to the hotel.
The room was of a good size although there was not much space provided for clothes.
We asked for a quiet room, which did not present a problem to the reception staff.
There are some restaurants in the locality, mostly foreign, but reasonable.
On the down side we found that there was insufficient hot water to take a bath, shower or wet shave during the evening. A complaint to the reception did not have any effect.
Breakfast was adequate. Eggs would have been a nice addition.
An adequate hotel, not overpriced.

On arrival, we were not even greeted by hotel staff (a balding, oldish male) who continued to stare at his receipts and computer screen as we approached the desk. For about a minute, we were stood waiting for some acknowledgement of our existence which we finally got in the form of, "What is your name?". The room was adequate, modern with a flat screen TV. Let us first pick up the flat screen TV - whilst we enjoy the French culture and language, there was no channel which had a stable signal for any longer than 30 seconds which made watching ANY program impossible. We didn't even get BBC World Service. Our room was on the first floor at the back of the hotel which was not noisy at all, and allowed for a decent nights sleep. Within an hour of arriving at our room, cleaning staff decided to walk into our room without knocking on the door and waiting for a satisfactory response - needless to say they were somewhat embarrassed to find us in there unpacking. We were given a free breakfast whilst staying which we only took up once on our departure date, there was a fair range of cold foods, and also hot beverages and croissants/toast. The wifi from our room was fine, you need to get a code for each device which you want to use from the reception desk. Apart from the first deaf man, all reception staff were helpful and receptive when probed. For information. Travel into Geneva (which is what we did) wasn't too much of a hassle. You can either walk to the French border within 20 minutes or alternatively catch a bus from outside of the hotel for 1.30 euros per person; from the French border you can ride the tram system straight into the city centre (Bel Air tram station). Location is not ideal, however was not an off-putting feature of our overall stay. Given all circumstances, we would probably stay again as it was not an awful experience, just could have been better.

Room Tip: Select a room on a high floor and at the back of the hotel to avoid road noise. Good lucking with wa...

The positives, Budget rate, 2 adults 2 kids 1 room. Staff friendly, great breakfast, free parking. Close to main motor way if traveling on the the Alps and back to Geneva.

Negatives: The Room did smell of serious smoking after requesting non smoke room. The windows have no locks or balconies (high rise building). Even with the bad smell, we were forced to keep the window closed with small children sleeping on beds adjacent to large windows.

I would use this hotel again, ...but be very vigilant with small children in relation to the windows

Friendly staff, easy parking, good WiFi...and plentiful free coffee in the lobby. Breakfast - with freshly squeezed orange juice - was good. Location is convenient for Geneva as well as for Annemasse itself. Two nearby restaurants - that is within 2 mins, another good regional restaurant in Annemasse just 5 or 6 minutes walk away. Overall good value point - and the reservation system was flawless.
