“Only fish but very fresh”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

Beware we had a member of our group who cannot eat fish and there is no meat on the menu. That said this is an excellent restaurant with a justifiably good reputation. They cook an extensive range of fresh fish in many different ways and all of them good. We had the best clams here but in fact everything was excellent. I also appreciated the wine list and the reasonable prices. Try to eat upstairs with a view over the river.

“Excellently prepared seafood”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

This restaurant 'vaut le detour'. It seems to be the best in the region, and I am willing to believe it. Excellent seafood, fresh and well prepared. This evening they were out of calamares, which is a pity and unusual in Spain! Wines for normal prices, and a very friendly service. Do note the Spanish opening times: closes at approx. 17.00 and reopens no earlier then 20.30h in the evening. If you are staying in Jerez (like we did) or Cadiz, you should certainly go.

“Worth the trip !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013 via mobile

Try it and you'll know the reasons why it's so well-rated by most consumers...
Fish and seafood especially.

“If you want to experience the hospitality industry performing at its highest level...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2012 via mobile

I could write a whole review about the service alone. It is of an exceptionally high standard: friendly, helpful, discreet and utterly professional. And then there's the value. You could fly here from London for the weekend and still have change left from the price of an equivalent meal in the West End. The variety and quality of fish on offer - if you are a seafood aficionado - is astounding, and obvious pride with which it is prepared and presented entirely justified in my opinion.

You will get a bowl of olives when you sit down, which are quite outstanding even by Andalucian standards, and these are best accompanied by a glass of local Fino or Manzanilla. To follow this however, the wine list includes some of the best available to accompany fish, eg, Ribeira del Duero, but my advice is don't be afraid to try the local Barbadillo. They're better known for their sherry, and agreed theirs is not a particularly sophisticated white, but it does go exceptionally well with octopus and shellfish.

The restaurants of Sanlucar and El Puerto offer the best tasting fish you will find in mainland Europe (I am not counting a tiny fishing village in Tenerife which is almost impossible to find anyway) so if you happen to find yourself within 1000 miles or so of this place, it is worth considering.

This is only the second review I've contributed to Tripadvisor; the first was to complain about a ghastly overpriced hotel in Brussels. And as soulless and depressing as that was, Bigote is completely wonderful.

“Worth our trip from Cadiz”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

Situated about an hour’s drive from Cadiz in Sanlucar, we made the drive to here based on recommendations. It was certainly worth the trip, the food was lovely and the service was great. We would definitely recommend. This is not centrally located in Sanlucar, which is probably no bad thing if you’re driving. Plenty of parking nearby and any local will be able to give you directions as it appears to be one of the most well known restaurants in the town.
