“Wonderful place in a lovely village”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2014

I stayed there with a friend couple of weekends ago. The place is an ancient mansion transformed into a hotel part of the relaiss & chateaux group . The property is located in the hearth of the village of Erbalunga, walking distance (5 min) from a good variety of restaurants still opened at this time of the year. A little grocery and bistro next door offer an interesting variety of food for a cosy little diner on your balcony or for preparing a picnic for a day road trip around the Corsican Cape. Lovely location. Lovely village. It is like living in a postcard.
Rooms are very clean and spacious, breakfast is served in a lovely victorian sun house attached to the main building with a very good variety of food including local products. The place is well equiped with 2 pools and spa, I wish I had brought my swimsuit. Lovely, exquisite place with very nice and helpful staff.

Room Tip: Ask for their quick notes on what to visit on a Road trip around the Corsican Cape, this way you ma...

Very impressed by this hotel with comfy rooms, lovely gardens and excellent heated swimming pool. Breakfast with a good spread of food or an evening nightcap in the courtyard under the trees was very pleasant. Erbalunga across the road is a very attractive pedestrianised village with a little harbour and plenty of places to choose from to eat or drink, some overlooking the sea. In all an excellent place for a relaxing break in an interesting, scenic corner of Corsica.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2014 via mobile

We spent four nights at Castel Brando in Erbalunga. A charming hotel in a former residence. The pool and gardens were lovely - many old trees for shade and beautiful flowering plants. We stayed in the main mansion in a small suite. It was very comfortable and we loved the view of the main street with the local people going to the Boulangerie/Patisserie with their dogs. It was a great location to walk the small village on the sea. The village had a surprising number of restaurants for such a small place. We enjoyed going to a Cafe for drinks in the square with the sea view as well. The hotel is in a good location to explore Cap Corse and only 8 km from Bastia. We went to many tiny mountain villages as well as across the mountains to the other side of Cap Corse. The buffet breakfast I really enjoyed as the weather was so warm we ate outside on the patio. The crusty bread was super delicious with local fig preserves. Excellent hot chocolate and home made yogurt. The staff was friendly and helpful.

After an overnight sailing from Genoa to Bastia we had booked this hotel in advance for our first night in Corsica; we were not disappointed! We arrived at the hotel during Breakfast to a very welcome greeting and to be told that our room was ready and waiting for us. Our room was located by the smaller of the two swimming pools and was spacious, airy, very comfortable and well equipped. Breakfast was a very well presented buffet which we thoroughly enjoyed. We also took a light lunch which again was excellent. All the staff were delightful. The only reason this hotel does not get an excellent rating from me is that there is no restaurant on-site for an evening meal.. The good news though is that there are several across the way. We would most definitely stop here again.

Room Tip: The rooms near the smaller pool enjoy a quieter time.

A lovely 19th century Mansion converted into an hotel de charme... Gorgeous location next to the most charming village of Erbalunga with many restaurants and a little harbour... St Tropez in Corsica but better ! The hotel is decorated with style and charm, not too fussy...
I recommend the rooms in the old house... But I believe the garden ones are also charming...
Sad the hotel is not open in the winter and there are no other decent hotels near Bastia... We will certainly come back on our next visit !

Room Tip: I would say that the better rooms are certainly in the main house quiet quirky and charming the suit...

We arrived in Corsica only to stay at this fabulous hotel as we explored Cap Corse. A charming in with a history all its on. The owners treat you like family. Don't miss Le Pirate across the street, a Michelin one star restaurant.

Upon arrival in the hotel we were guided through the garden with its two swimming pools to our room which was at the very end of the domain. The room was spacious, offering all comfort you need (nice bathroom, good bed, airco, coach,...).

Parking is a bit of a challenge. The way the parking lot is set up is not the most convenient one ! With the car I was driving there (Citroen DS4) it worked out quite well, but I can imagine that it gets hard if you drive a bigger car)

Breakfast is not give the wide offering you would expect from a classy place like this (e.g. the fruit salad is really poor), but the fact that you can have breakfast on the wonderful terrace in the shadow given by the trees, compensates this completely. Our impression was that the food that is offered on the terrace is relatively expensive but we did not give it a try (14 or 15 Euro for a club sandwich makes me think this must be a very special sandwich...).

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the staff is very friendly and very helpful. Well done !
