“Abruzzo at its best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2012

Wow!
I have eaten in top restaurants the likes of Daniels, Per Se and Jean George in New York and equally fine restaurants in Paris, London, Milan et al. Most of which are in great cities and fine dining is expected. But! In a small town of Guardiagrele with 4,000 inhabitants one finds dining at the same level? It's incredible and at a fractional cost. Don't order from the menu, just have owner and chef Peppino Tinari recommend a tasting menu of many traditional dishes from the area and make sure you also have him recommend with every dish a local wine.
Include in your tasting Pallotte Caio e Ove.
This place was totally unexpected and an unbelievable experience in fine dining.
Will revisit it again.

“Excellent restaurant. Abruzzo culinary tradition with a contemporary touch at its best.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2012

Location is very nice. There is a terrace overlooking the valley below far to the sea. Service is excellent. The wine list is extensive and the food is great. Fresh local ingredients. The bread is baked in-house and match the quality of the food adding to the overall experience.

“A place that will never let you down.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2011

At the foot of Maiella Mountain in Abruzzo, the Villa Maiella is standing. Always elegant but friendly and perfect service and delicious foods which go over your expectations. Mr.Peppino with his smile makes us feel at home and good suggestions for menu and wine to go with.
Just before starters, a nice glass of prosecco accompanied by small plate with season's speciality bring our expectation much much more.
Good variety of Antipasti selections and Don't miss the special Raviolis wth Burrata and if there's some more space, some nice of Secondi. Agnello is so tasty and perfectly cooked. Everything is so fresh and prepared with care. I love this place and recommend to all.

“Finest Meal I have ever had in Europe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2010

Randomly, a man from Milano who we shared a ferry to the Tremiti Islands recommended this as one of the 5 best restaurants in Italy. We found it using our GPS and our first impressions were, wow, this is nice. Being in our late 20’s and dressed in slacks and a golf shirt, I also felt a little under dressed. That didn’t matter too much; there was a guy in shorts and a T-Shirt at the table next to us. All designer, but still . . .

The food was incredible and local, and the waiter picked a local wine that was very reasonably priced (15 euros) and delicious. The best dish we had was the Pasta alla Chitarra with lamb ragu. The lamb was obviously cooked over wood and a great depth and smokiness to it.

The entire meal was superb, from the complimentary garbanzo soup they brought us, to the pastas, to the lamb secondo, to the semi-fredo like desert. Fanciest, nicest meal I have ever had in Europe, and a great value for the price.
