“The perfect stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2014

We spent 2 nights here to celebrate my birthday. The staff are lovely and the ambience is so peaceful and relaxing. Views from the room were stunning and the restaurant served magnificent meals.beautifully served. The breakfast buffet was the best we have experienced anywhere and the superior way it was displayed made it even more appetising. Definitely recommend this hotel and we look forward to returning.

Just returned from a weekend at the hotel. If you want stunning views, in a relaxed environment with friendly staff - this is the place to go!

Simply beautiful panoramic views from the hotel.

The villa we stayed in was a good size over two levels, airy and clean, there were toiletries in the bathroom and a bottle of complimentary sweet wine.

We stayed in one of the villas that had a Jacuzzi bath - move the shower curtain aside and you can enjoy the views from the bath!

The balcony was also secluded and private - the resort itself being the most relaxing I have been to.

The staff were friendly, happy and nothing was too much trouble.

We ate at the hotel restaurant of an evening. The food was excellent, well cooked and there was plenty of it!!

Breakfast had a good selection of pastries, cold meats, fruits and juices.

All in all, a truly wonderful location with a calm, relaxing atmosphere, great food and staff.

Although we live fairly close by it was a treat to come here with a group, enjoy a sociable evening and stay overnight. The rate we paid for the standard room was excellent, it included dinner, bed and breakfast.
Our room was a good size with a truly panoramic view towards the coast. You could almost imagine you were in a plane, you are up so high ! A complimentary bottle of Jalon Mistela with 2 glasses awaited us. A nice touch.
The bathroom is very well appointed and spacious with all the other usual little bottles available to make your stay comfortable.
Our meal was good and the fish delicious.

Downsides....Very noisy aircon/kitchen extractors to the rear of main building. They could be heard throughout the upstairs corridor so I imagine that all rooms were affected. Once our door was closed the sound was only faint during the day. However, upon awaking at 4am I had to resort to earplugs to get back to the land of Nod. This problem does need addressing. It would put me off staying again unless we forked out for a 'villa' away from the noise.
It was very hot in the night and my husband found it difficult to sleep. He didn't switch on the aircon ( obviously, because I hate the noise ! ) but found in the morning that it couldn't be persuaded to work anyway !
Damaged toilet seat needed replacing. Limescale marks in toilet bowl need removing.

The basic concept of this place, on top of a mountain with stunning views out to the Mediterranean, and the eager charm of its young staff leave you wanting to say nothing but good things about it. Unfortunately that is not honestly possible.
First the location is terrific. Yes, it is not very convenient to the motorways and you need to allow anything up to 45 minutes to find your way up the winding roads, but that is the price of going to the top of a mountain, and the views do the spirit good. The hotel is a low ranch style long central building, well-conceived, with a number of small buildings housing the apartments off the side and the very nice swimming pool in a raised but quite sheltered area behind the apartments. The central building has covered terrace with comfortable sofas and the interior reception and bar area has some nice touches such as hand-painted ceiling panels, and an amazing coffee glass coffee table supported by tree roots.
Our room, 110, a junior suite said by the staff to be the best room in the hotel, was quite a nice room, once you had got over the sense of its duplex having been made upside down. Jacuzzi with a view, and the most amazing collection of taps you could imagine - for bath, shower, and moveable shower head. And a nice little terrace outside on the upper floor of the duplex.

However: just too many details didn't work. The system of interior wooden blinds common in Spain was in the end a bit ridiculous with a complex mix of little windows closed off to light when we arrived and not really practical to maneouvre to let daylight in. The main door and blind/interior shutter in the upper floor hid a dangerous step down at top of the stairs (we didn't fall down but it's a serious design flaw). The bay window which should have given a great view from the jacuzzi blocked by a shower curtain fixed in the middle. The lights beside the mirror both missing their bulbs and deliberately turned upside down to hide it - a maneouvre unworthy of the place. The absence of good view from the bed because the window had been made to one side so the TV could be in the middle. The lack of any dressing table equivalent in a space with lots of spare possibilities and shelves serving no particular purpose. And - a pet hate of ours - the fixed hangars of the 'most of our clients are thieves' variety.
The surrounding orchards of almond and cherry trees are really nice, and the drive is bordered by rosemary and sage bushes. But the area immediately in front of the car area in front of the hotel is unkempt and barren, as is the little garden area leading to the apartments where a number of failed little conifers and so on don't come close to covering the dusty bare earth.
Each one a detail, but together suggesting the need for better management. The design flaws I suppose can't be dealt with so easily - the most striking one for us was the pool area (beautiful pool), where the view is almost entirely cut off by the roofs of the apartments - what a pity. perhaps the idea was to shelter this area..
In the bar we could not get a couple of glasses of cava - surely a sin in Spain - on grounds that it was only served by the bottle. It's hard to believe this is commercially justified even if occasionally a bottle remainder is discarded, given the prices of reasonable cava and the good stoppers now available.....
Dinner very disappointing. A nice nibble of aioli and crushed tomato sauce. But a starter of fish balls that were stodgy and tasteless, and another starter of tiny boccarones on large pancakes with more large quantities of aioli. Main courses: rabbit, which was good and pork in almond sauce which was totally without taste or texture, and the sauce did not work. Dessert of panacotta with mango which sounded great but was a solid jelly with chunks of not-fresh mango. The wine, a local Pena Cadilla 2008 Crianza was good value at (on memory) about 30Euro
Breakfast was ok - but another sin in Spain, orange juice was not fresh. Overall very hard to rate - on some levels really good, on others really poor, and it's tempting to ignore the accumulation of small failings. .Value is fair at 100E including breakfast for a spacious room. Some firm management could make this a really outstanding place. But very good is too high a rating just now, so we have to go for average.
