“Great food and service but you must book in advance”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2014

We visited twice in the evening. The first time on bank holiday Saturday and it was packed and then again on the bank holiday Monday when it was much quieter. Both times the food was excellent as was the service. Highly recommended.

“Mount Up and Gallop to This Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2014

Been to a few pub/inns where the quaint facade concealed disappointing food? The Michelin judges awarded the H&G a gourmand ribbon, and it is well deserved. We arrived just before they closed for lunch, yet they courteously served us . (Although the beady-eyed blonde barmaid reminded us rather brusquely to get our order in quickly.) Fair enough, and the food, which arrived promptly via a smiling waitress, was wonderful. A fish & chips light and flavorful, the chips hot and crackly, altogether better than the London sea palaces--take that, J. Sheekey! I don't remember what my wife had, only that she oohed and aahed as much as I did. A fine selection of beers and ciders is available, but I decided that local British roads demanded my entirely sober concentration. The Horse and Groom is well worth a detour.

“Great lunch in Cotswold”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2014

Came here to celebrate a birthday in a party of 10. The food tasted great, the atmosphere was classic pub, and won't put too much of a dent in the wallet.

“Great service for a quick lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2014

On a driving tour of the Cotswolds, myself and my partner happened to drive past the horse and groom at lunchtime and, thinking it looked nice from the outside, we ventured in.

Greeted by a very helpful bar man (glasses and shorts) we managed to grab the only free table. Everything was explained to us by the bar man - there are no menus, only a large chalk board in the bar area. You decide what you want and order at the bar before being shown to your table.

The decor being traditional Cotswold stone on the outside and very modern inside, using wood and stone to fantastic effect. The multi level dining areas make it an unusual yet comfy place to dine.

When our food arrived (both opting for the bunless burger) we were amazed at the level of cooking for such a relatively easy dish! The burger was more like a giant meatball and was cooked to perfection, nice and pink in the middle. You could tell that it had been made from excellent produce. The food is "a la carte" in presentation but does not leave you hungry after.
As we had just popped in for a quick bite, we didn't have starters or desert but really wished we had!
A great up market pub in the country side.

We'll be back for all 3 courses soon!

“Just missed out on five stars!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2014

The food here is just exquisite, it is super tasty, full of flavour and they serve good sized portions. The good is pricey but excellent quality. The man taking orders at the bar was quite abrupt and for this reason can't give five stars. Other staff were helpful and friendly.
