“90th Birthday Family Celebration”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2014

We were a party of 9 family members celebrating Dads' 90th birthday.
We had a wonderful time, the hotel was better than our expectations ( after reading recent reviews). The food was excellent with a good variety for all tastes, we particularly enjoyed the paella at lunch time, the salads were fresh and varied and the show cooking gave a good variety of fish and meat. Our rooms were on a level we requested (level 5) and we enjoyed the lovely view. The staff were helpful and the rooms were clean. Although there was a lack of supervision in the restaurant with children running around, but that is the only negative. On the whole it was all very good and we would have no hesitation in booking again. The Bass family from Bury St Edmunds.

Location: easy to reach by car because of the motorway. Always free parking spaces. Food: all-inclusive, enough choices. The restaurant itself very noicy. Pool area: large, enough sunbeds.Next to the waterpark. Freetime activities: different kind of entertainment for kids and adult during the whole day. A small gym nearby. 10 minutes from Anfi-Tauro-Golf. Internet: wifi doesn't work, no use paying for it. All in all: perfect for families with kids.

Firstly let me say that I booked this hotel with concerns following some poor reviews. I came here with my best friend (we are late 20s) for some R&R and wanted cheap sunshine.

The room was clean, well presented and more than I could have hoped for. Beautiful views of the sunset (you don't get sun until about 10.30am but hey, it was raining in the UK when we went). Staff were friendly, polite, professional. Reception staff were lovely, food was varied and of good quality, and if you like a good sangria or local beer then you have no worries about the alcohol. All soft drinks are named brands so if you prefer to stay t-total you have access to all you would like. I could not fault this for what it offered.

We managed to sneak into the posher and more expensive sister hotel across the way for a couple of days, and guess what, higher price but same food, and alcohol. Yes, there were less children (we were hungover and wanted a bit more peace and quiet) and the pool was heated (sunburn is not forgiving of cold water) but aside from that the quality of staff, food, drink etc was the same.

This is not the place to party, but if you're after a swim in the sea at sunset, some star gazing, some boozing and some sunburn then I'd say go for it, and if you want a break from the families, sneak into the sister hotel like you belong there and get the very lovely bar manager from Morocco to make you one of his very strong sangrias!

Room Tip: All noise disappears after 11pm... unless you're the one making it! :o)

Dear guest,
Thank you very much for taking the time to review your stay at our hotel Paradise Lago Taurito on Tripadvisor.com.
We are happy, that you enjoyed your stay at our hotel.
We are glad to hear that you found the staff attentive and professional and enjoyed our food and drink selection.
We were surprised that you mentioned that that food was the same in the second location of your stay, the sister hotel Paradise Valle Taurito****+.
We strive to provide a wide variety of food with our different themed nights (Canarian, Spanish, Italian, French, Chinese, etc.) and the live cooking stations which serve grilled meat and fish in the 4 star hotel.

We already look forward to welcoming you again and want to thank you once more for your stay with us.
Best regards,

We booked this hotel following a recommendation from our friends who had previously stayed there. Following our booking we read some of the reviews which upon reflection appear to have been quite harsh. Staff were more than helpful, our room was spacious with a great view, there was a good choice of food for each meal time and the animation staff worked really hard to entertain both the children and adults. In addition to this the resort itself had everything in the vicinity, a water park, crazy golf, bowling, arcade games and a good selection of shops. There was also a regular and reliable bus service if you wanted to visit some of the local towns. All in all a great holiday :)

Really want to keep this review helpful & objective regards a potential booking. We read so many polarising reviews we were confused but took a punt.
Firstly, having returned on Sunday, I would just say that we do feel fabulously recharged. The weather was generally 19/20 degrees which was lovely for us. We have three kids aged 10, 8 and 6. Overall we had a good holiday but ultimately these holidays cost a lot of money and I just feel that for that money we all imagine and / or expect perfection. When that doesn't happen it's just disappointing.
So, I will keep this review to sections so that you can read about what you might wish to know (no particular order!)

FOOD
Not great. Choice was a little limited. Quite a lot of processed food e.g. Ham, cheeses, sausages, tinned vegetables. Poor quality. Pizza was available every day though it was prepared and cooked in front of you. Thai food was never really Thai. Paella was available just about every day as even though it might not have been prepared that day it was recycled from the previous. Salad bar was pretty good, fresh fruit varied in quality. Desserts were variations on a theme. Ice cream every day, jelly often, flavoured whips, different coloured sponges with artificial cream.
We got by, but never came away thinking what a great meal we'd had. Disappointing.

STAFF
Reception staff were generally quite sterile. Wouldn't say welcoming. We arrived late in the evening and immediately felt as though we were However, the dining room staff were fab and worked really hard. Bar staff were dreadful. The majority of guests were all inclusive and it was as though staff were simply trying to give you the least amount of poor quality drinks as was humanly possible! They never had enough bar staff and they often spent a lot of time preparing complex cocktails. When you just want 1 glass of wine for an evening it's really annoying. Cleaning staff were lovely & rooms were cleaned well. The entertainment staff were really good and worked really hard too.

ROOMS
We had a linked room/suite. In one side was a double bed and bathroom. In the other is a kitchen area with a lounge area & tv. We had a single camp bed in there with a sofa bed. There was no where near enough storage and very little space around the beds. Bathrooms were small but perfectly formed. Beds not very comfortable, pillows were
Nice balcony with table & chairs, clothes dryer. All rooms have view which is a bonus and the hotel gets the evening sun which is lovely.

THINGS TO TAKE!
Beach towels. The cost of entry to the water park is indeed included in the price however, the hotel doesn't supply you up with beach towels for free. They cost 1€ per towel per day plus a 10€ deposit. Also the cost of using the sunbeds in the water park is not included in the all inclusive price. They cost 2€ each per day but you can come and go all day.

WATER
They don't recommend you drink the tap water but bottled water is not very forthcoming. They don't bring water to your table at dinner but it is "on tap" at the bar!! The only problem is that you don't really know what you are drinking. The ONLY way to be sure is to buy bottles from the supermarket which is only about 1 minute out of the hotel. However, for an all inclusive not to provide you with bottled water is a bit much we felt.

POOLS
The hotel pool is heated somewhat but it is quite small relative to the hotel. As a result expect the stereotypical towels on beds as early as 7am !! The waterparks is fab - the slides are great, kids area too. The water is seawater which in itself wasn't a problem until we experienced how cold it was. Takes your breath away. At this time of year when the air temp is not super warm we found it tough at times. Our kids were more brave on some days, not so on others. Little ones would probably benefit from a wetsuit to keep them going !

OTHER BITS
The water park does cater for all inclusive guests, food wise. Be aware however, food is served between 10am and 12 noon and then between 4 and 5pm. However the quality is dreadful - hot dogs, burgers, ham/cheese toasties that are the worst of processed food. They do serve beer (nice my husband said), Pepsi, lemonade, day glow orangeade.

I must reiterate that we DID have a good holiday, believe it or not. It probably does sound like we are desperately picky. We probably do get annoyed at things that others don't even notice. However, ultimately we wish we had known this stuff before we booked.

Would we return to this hotel? No. We are already looking for next year. 4* hotels only. It would seem 3* like this one is not worth the saving in terms of First Choice ratings.

Room Tip: All rooms face out which is great.

This was the first proper family holiday we have had going on a plane. The flights with Thomas Cook were great as were the transfers.
On arrival we were made to feel welcome and given all of the info required.
As we had a 3 & 5yr old we were luckily given a lower level room which was large and clean. The balcony overlooked the main valley and the sand pit and a section of the main deck.
The food selection was good, some of it was cold, the kids selction is cold (check some of the meat to see if its cooked through) and a microwave is there to warm up what you want as it is laid out for the kids to help themselves.
A TV is there and usually at lunch and dinner one of the animation team sits in the kids section to help them (but not babysit so don't dump and run).
The dining room was large and clean, drink selection was good.
The animation team - entertainment were really good and always trying things and the Mini Club was good even though the facilities do need an update.
The mini discos in the evening are good and the kids loved them.
The hotel pool is cold, its ok if its warm and it can be a bit small but as there is a waterpark 50yds away thats probably why.
The waterpark is large - the pool is saltwater and cold - we took the kids summer wet suits to help out.
Again the food and drink on site are standard - burger, hot dog, cheese & ham toastie but if you need this then i'd be suprised.
The beach is another 50yds away and black sand but nice with lots to do (the activities are extra).
The mini golf is 4 euros each (suggest get 1 stick and ball and take turns) as 16 euros for the 4 of us with 2 kids under 5 was a bit steep.
We would gladly go back to the resort but possibly look to stay in the better hotels.

Overall great resort, close to everything and far enough away as well - but the hotel does need a tart up

We spent Christmas at this fabulous place. With three teenage children to entertain this complex could not have been better. Thanks to the fabulous entertainment staff especially Patrick lola and saki. They worked so hard to make our holiday one to remember all day everyday. Wonderful choice of food especially as we are fussy eaters- one vegetarian included. We had two fabulous spacious apartments- not just a room as expected. A stones throw away from a lovely beach where the kids did wastersports which were reasonably priced and a great choice. Would definitely recommend this hotel, already have friends booked in here.
