“Great holiday.......excellent value for money!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2011

Just got back from a great holiday at the Lago Taurito. There was 7 in our party, 4 adults 3 children (14,11 & 10). The rooms were great, very spacious with alot more storage than we have experienced before, they were very clean although a little dated. The beds were fine and we all slept very well. If I was to have any critisim about the rooms it would be the lack of cups/glasses but we just got some plastic ones from the pool bar for juice/water. We wasn't bothered about plates cutlery etc as we don't go on holiday to cook! The hotel was obviuosly self catering at one time as the kitchen area is quite spacious with a full size fridge and microwave.

The pool is a fair size but there is a shortage of sunbeds. During our first week there was not so much of a problem getting a bed but this changed towards the end of the second week when some people felt the need to leave their towels on the beds for days. The waterpark is great and there are loads of sunbeds in there (you only pay for mats and parasols). The salt water was a bit of a shock to the kids at first but they soon got used to it and certainly didn't let it spoil the fun. The beach is lovely and very relaxing plenty of sunbeds down there too (9 euros for 2 beds and a parasol). They is also a fairly good selection of watersports down there.
We found the food to be great, always something different to have and plenty of it. Our kids did not have any problems finding stuff they liked and I wonder what peoples kids do eat when they say there was nothing here for them! It would have been nice to get a coffee in the restaurant after our meal but it was no big deal going to the bar for it instead.
The arena plaza where the evening entertainment is held is not big enough for all the hotels but we always managed to get a table and didn't find getting a drink a problem either. The bar staff are friendly and work hard but we usually get to know them a little better than we did here. I have to say that the entertainment was poor. It was much of a muchness everynight with the mini disco first then either a music quiz or a game of bingo followed by the 'show'......which usually consisted of the animation team dancing (which some of them are very good at) and miming to songs from musicals. There wasn't much audience participation and it was quite mind numbing. We went to the night club (La Bamba) several times as our kids loved it!
Outside of the hotel there is the lovely town of Puerto Mogan a few mins away in one direction and the not so lovely Puerto Rico in the other. We went to both a couple of times and much preferred Puerto Mogan. If your going to do any trips we would highly recommend the Canarian Combo (Jeep safari, Camel ride and boat trip), we all had great fun on this as we did at the Music Hall Tavern (don't think I have laughed so much in years). The kids also enjoyed Sioux City.
Overall this was a brilliant holiday especially for what we paid for it. It appears to me that the people who write negative reviews are expecting 5 star services at 3 star prices. I think we were lucky and the hotel was full of nice respectful polite people for the majority of the time we were there but that did change the last few days, but thats what you expect with budget holidays. We would definately recommend this hotel to anybody travelling with kids but would probably give it a miss if your not.

I just came back from my family holiday here. This was by far the best resort i have been to. Clean rooms amazing food great entertainment and freindly staff all over the place!
The reception staff was very helpful speak great english and easy to understand! They helped us book 2 taxis and they was at the hotel within 3-5 minutes of been called. There is alot to do what we fitted into a week was what i usually fitted into 10 days. There is always a big que to get into the waterpark but with your band (provided by the hotel) you are able to just walk through and go for a swim with anyone and come back at anytime. The food was unbelievable too so much choice and cooked to perfection not even the 5 star hotels i have stayed in have provided so much choice and so much quality. The beds was NOT uncomfortable at all. Before i went on this holiday i was really worried about what i had read on this site and i was shocked at how much people had lied. The food is not boring they searve different food every day! Its fresh and cooked right in front of you. The rooms was big enough for my family and we had 8 people going into 3 rooms. The lifts was amazing and very fun to go in. Entertainment is great and the entertainers gave people the chance to go on stage and dance to "Danza Kuduro" and i went up with my step-daughter and her friend she met every night! There is music playing from 10:30am to about 5:45pm and alot of choice for drinks. José louis was a very nice waiter and we tipped him every night for having a smile on his face and been friendly to every single person who spoke to him! Roza on reception was a great help and she organised for us to go on a sumberine trip into puerto mogán which went perfectly. I was sad to go home and leave the resort. There was a supermarket and loads of souvenir shops around the complex all together and the beach is a 2 minute walk away from the hotel. Im going back next year and staying for 3 weeks. This holiday suited a 16 year old 11 year old a 14 year old two 60+ people a 39 year old a 40 year old and 18 year old! Thank you lago taurito im coming back!

Just got back from an excellent stay at lago taurito! Think the majority of these people who have written these reviews may not have actually stayed in the same hotel ! The hotel is very clean and our room was very spacious enough room for the four of us including two children aged 15 and 11. The amenities were fine , fridge which i was not expecting , tv bathroom with over head shower was ok but did the job and at the end of the day we were only there for 7 nights , balcony was huge and over looked the sea and pool area and was a real sun trap.
The staff were all very helpfull , always smiling and very pleasant.
Pool was fab altho you do have to get up early to get a sunbed and not really enough parasols but loads of beds spread around. The area around the pool gets very hot and very slippy but wearing flip flops prevented us from slipping. The pool bar is great just help your self to soft drinks , water and tea and coffee . Beer was lovely and Sex on the beach cocktails were very refreshing and all of this free!
Water park is salt water which is yuk but we all managed with this . Free entry to water park which is great at a weekend as there are lots of people and you can by pass the entry queue!
Food was always fresh , enough choice for everyone even picky eaters! Always bread , fresh salad , pizza , pasta and loads of fresh food cooked in front of you ! Plenty of choice for breakfast , lunch and tea, with drinks self service on tap!
Evening entertainment a little poor but personally I didnt go on holiday for this , the outside bar does get very busy but you do get served as quick as they can . Not a huge amount to do on a night time but thats why i booked this hotel , a few shops to wander in and out of , supermarket , beach to walk to , crazy golf .
After reading the reviews on this hotel before we left i was a little worried , however your holiday is what you make it and mine was fantastic a shame i home!

Just got back 11 nights all inclusive. On arrival found family room for 4 was a large kitchen come lounge area sofa was 1 bed, camp bed along side it ,seperate bedroom with 2 uncomfortable beds and almost none existing pillows.9.30 at night fridge was empty dying for a drink went and asked for water was informed we had to buy the water from supermarket which was closed, had to queue at very busy and only bar to get 4 cups of water as a bottle would have to be paid for.traipsed back to room to make us all a drink all sweating as it was so hot.advise to take enough water and don't forget to take your kettle dried milk etc as the tea there is terrible so you can have a good cuppa when you want one. water 5 ltr 1euro 30.you can buy milk at the onsite supermarket 1euro 70 but be aware of the sell by date our milk went sour on the 3rd day even kept in the fridge.you cannot get anything to eat after 9 30 at night as restaurant closes shops closed you can get drinks at bar till 11pm then LA BAMBA disco where you pay through the nose.you are not allowed to take food or drink from the restaurant .10euro deposit for remote for telly you can get BBC world news if you want but nothing else in English but then on hols you don't really need tv.Weather boiling hot,in 30s yet at Las Palmas only 21 so it appears Lago Taurito traps the heat only 1 bit of cloud in11 days and then the sun came out.The water park is excellent but all inclusive guest can only have hot dogs and soft drinks everything else you have to pay for, the sunbeds are free but if you want a mattress or an umberella these are 2 euro each.pool towels are 1 euro each per day.The Animation team where excellent and provided some good entertainment at the water park and evenings Adam was exceptional not to be missed doing his Arumba dance.the food was very good and plenty of choice also was impressed with the real fresh orange and other fruit juices as some A/I serve some pretty naff juices.you can get hotdogs hamburgers and cheese toasties along with alchoholic drinks tea and coffee, chocolate and juices etc at the pool bar open from 10.00 till 1800 hrs snacks only between10.30 till 1300 then 15.00 till 17.00hrs shame you cannot get these after 21.00hrs.All in all a good holiday 3 STAR is what we paid for and this is what we got.so cannot complain.rooms cleaned every day and beds kept fresh.am going to email Hotel about NOT providing water in rooms or even on landings as paying for A/I you would expect to be kept supplied with water I was quite angry about this. For family hols this is a good place.

Room Tip: ask about 2 rooms for family of 4 or more as sofa really hard and camp bed springs kept twanging

We have just returned from a fabulous 10 day holiday with a party of 13,child ages ranged from 5,8,11,two 14 and two 16 year olds. The weather was fabulous for the whole time we were there.Having booked our trip through travel republic we got an excellent deal approx £2400 for a family of 4.
My honest opinion upon arrival was that the hotel seemed pleasant enough with an excellent waterpark directly infront of it.Rooms do require a little tlc and are a little tired in places but had sufficient storage for all of our needs and quite frankly we spend little time in our room.Fridge was very handy in the room also.
Mealtimes were more than sufficient for all our parties needs and a good variety dont think i had the same meal twice we found it all to be very nice and we like our food!!All the staff work very hard both day and night and we found them on the whole to be very friendly. The hotel pool is a little on the small side but you can come and go to the waterpark with a variety of slides and pool depths to suit all ages and it is nice to drag yourself off the sunbed for a while.(The cost for a family of 4 a day for the waterpark would normally be around 38 euros-but as a hotel resident you can just walk in).
Yes there isnt an awful lot else around the resort a handful of shops, doctors, crazy golf,a nice beach, with watersports and pedaloes, animation entertainment till around 10.30pm then there is la bamba underground disco until 2am which the older kids loved.
There are taxis at a cost of around 7 euros one way to puerto mogan which is very pretty and we ventured here a couple of times, sample the gorgeous tapas or crepes for the kids!!A very pretty beach here also with boat trips available.
Airport transfer time is approx 40 mins in a private taxi but in a general drop off coach was known to take MUCH longer.
On the whole we had a fabulous holiday and we really feel as though we had excellent value for money. All the kids didnt want to come home and made lots of friends while we were there,a sign of a good holiday in my book!!!!!!!

just got back from 11days holiday, weather was fantastic very hot.
Room very basic we had our 7yr old with us and we all had to share one room, there was no separate bedroom, beds uncomfortable and only 1 pillow per person, no spares.
The food was OK if you liked chips with everything, there was always a number of choices but not much for chioce for Kids.
We booked this hotel because of the waterpark, however we only ended up using this 3 times, due to it being salt water. Just to say you don't have to pay for the beds , but if you want the cushion and umbrella then it's 2 or 3 euro's each one.
In the water park you can get drinks and food with your all enclusive bands but this is only between 11 -1pm and 3 - 5pm. from 1 -3pm you have to go back to the hotel resturant, this is the same for the pool bar food aswell, in the waterpark you can get hotdogs and soft drinks and the pool bar serves burgers, hotdogs and toasted sandwiches and all drinks.
Beware of the flooring around the pool bar as it is really slipperly my son feel over 3 times on the first day........... they do have signs out warning you but about this.
Sunbeds..................well what can i say, your not meant to reserve this before 9am, but people were putting out towels at 11.30pm at night. If your not putting your towels out by 8.30am then you don't have chance of getting a bed, there are not enough loungers or umbrellas to go round, that's one good thing about the waterpark you can always get a bed their or at the beach which doesn't ever seem to be really busy.
Evening entertainment really wasn't that good, not our taste, however there was some funning bits, but this was due to the people we met and their particapation on stage Paul and Michael (Patrick and Jacko)
One thing that let things down inthe evening was the wait at the bar to get served and the fact that you can only order 4 drinks at a time, the beer is only served in half pint plastic glasses.
The bar staff work really hard, but there just aren't enought staff to the number of guests.
The one thing that really made this holiday was the people we met here, lots of English people who were all great fun to be around
We have made some life long friends.
Hope this helps with your holiday, we did have a nice time but we wouldn't go back again.

Lots of people were saying the food was very poor but we all thought it was brilliant, we always had something different to eat. There was 2 familes in our group totalling 10, the ages varied from 4 adults, a 19, and a 2 year old.
Pool: the pool was very clean and we never had a problem getting a sun bed, the pool was big so you could still have lots of fun in it, there was a baby pool. The pool bar was very good,it provided hotdogs, burger, ice cream, sandwichs etc.The only problem with the pool was the floor was very slippery!!!!
staff: The staff were all very friendly and ready to help, They are very good with the kids, the entertainment staff worked very hard all day doing activities such as kids club, golf, table tennis etc this was for adults and kids, the evening entertainment was ok ,very cheesy, but they enjoyed what they were doing. The mini disco for the kids was good, once you had heard the songs a couple of times they stuck in your head! My 13 year old knew most of the words and dance moves by the time we had left.
rooms: the rooms were very clean and a good size you always had a amazing view of the beach or the resort ! are beds were always made and had clean sheets, all the beds were very comfortable!
water park: the water park was good but the only problem was that it was salt water but everything else was good they had different slides and lazy rivers, if your worried about the little ones they had small slides and very shallow pool areas for them to mess around in. you had to pay 2 euros for a sun bed but that was for the whole day.
beach: the beach was very nice but black sand which made it very hard to walk on because it was so hot, they had sunbeds which you had to pay for!
they also did things like jet skis and banna boats and many more.
other families: we met alot of friendly people.
A very relaxing and enjoyable holiday, being all inclusive took alot of pressure of the adults as the kids could help themselves to drinks and ice-creams without asking.
I would definetly go back
