“Excellent value for money hotel in a lovelly location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2009

Just come back from a week at this hotel having booked through Portland Holidays. Having read many Trip Advisor reviews regarding this hotel I was delighted to get (with a bit of bargaining over the phone!) a great rate. Then I started to see a few more negative reviews come through and started to worry. Well, I thought it was excellent value for money with good service and a stunning location. Yes it is quiet in the evenings, so if you want a lot of nightlife on holiday don't go here! Also, if you want posh food, again try elsewhere, but saying that we always found plenty to eat in the dinning room. Continuing on the food comments, you must remember this hotel caters for a mixture of continental customers with a large amount of German guests, so the food variety may appear not always geared towards the British tastes. There was not too much fresh fruit choise available compared to other holiday hotels I have stayed at and the food selection and presentation could at times do with a bit more thought, but my wife thought it was good and she's quite fussy! The pool snack bar was great and helped to put a few extra pounds of wieght on by the time we went home. Beer and wine (red, white and rosa) on tap in the dinning room was great and of course the all inclusive was well used and saved us a great deal compared with other holidays. Booking in at reception was slow, mainly because they wanted to explain everything to you when you arrived which is good but they could have done with more staff on duty to speed things up. About 3 weeks before we went I e-mailed the hotel reception to ask if it was possible to be allocated a double bedded room on the top floor (floor 11), although I never got a reply we got exactly what we asked for, excellent! The two main pool areas are good and clean and we found sunbeds available in most places during most of the day, although the ruling of no towels on sunbeds before 10.00am which is displayed widely is totally ignored. I noticed towels appearing before 7.00am! Good god, some people need to get a life! Another small bug I have is the notice on the Dinning room saying full length trousers are to be worn in the dinning room during the evening meal, which I do not have a problem with, but why does this only apply to males? Shorts and skirts no bigger than belts seem to be common place and accepted, sex discriminated!
Taurito itself is small but use the courtesy bus and the local buses which are clean, cheap and efficient (the bus stop is about a 1/4 mile flat walk away). You can get to most main places on the buses. Also, the Water Taxi from Puerto Mogan and Puerto Rico is good. Try the Whale/Dolphin water taxi trip from Puerto Rice (leaves about 10.30 - I think) to Puerto Mogan, takes about an hour but worth the ride.
We were told that the hotel was about 60% full and the Suite Princess opposite was only 20% full so it was quite quiet and this might not be so at more peak times. The room we were given was set back slightly an had a smaller balcony than some but had a larger room and clear glass on the balcony railing so you can see a lot more. We did experience a blocked loo twice during the stay but it was dealt with straight away, maybe a drainage problem on the top floor! Also the shower rail was hanging by only 3 of the 4 screws and one of the bathroom light bulbs went after 2 days and was not replaced. The room itself was spacious but was due for redecor soon, but clean. We never had any problems with the lifts (I've read passed Trip Advisor comments) and never had to wait very long for a lift to turn up. We had a really great relaxing holiday here and would recommend it to others who want the same at a reasonable price.

Great value for money we really enjoyed our week's stay. The pool was great, it was the first time I have been away and you could not keep out of the pool. The pool is divided into two halves, one side heated. The side that is not heated was great for the afternoon when you wanted to cool down from the heat. Staff were really friendly and food plentiful and had great choices. Evening entertainment was o.k. Out of the seven nights there were about three good evenings. Bus services from the resort were excellent to the nearby ports. Only bad point is, if you suffer with heights make sure you ask beforehand for a lower floor room becuase there are eleven floors and the glass lift is on the outside. Worth a visit.

We came back from 1 week at the Tauritio Princess, and loved it so much the day after we came home we booked to go back in December!
The Hotel is always clean and tidy and all staff are very friendly. The resturant was wonderful and the food was great there was always something for everyone and i'm pretty fussy! The staff were always replenishing the food and it was always hot. Breakfast was the best meal and the fry up was very good, i'm always a bit cautious with the eggs but they were cooked how you wanted them!
We didn't have any problems with the lifts and didn't come across anyone else having problems they were sometimes a little hit and miss as there are no up and down lights to say in which direction your going in but we were on holiday so we were in no rush.
The pool was lovely and much bigger then we thought the pictures in the brochures really don't do it justice!
The rooms were very tidy and clean and there is a safe and fridge in every room. we didn't bother with paying for the fridge but it didn't have a lock on it anyway so we did store some water in it. we did pay for the safe though which was 12 euros and 6 deposit.

My wife and daughter stayed for a week at this hotel in May and I'm surprised at some of the negative reviews I've read since. This Hotel is in a beautiful location and is immaculate with staff who are always helpful and attentive. Our room and all the public rooms were great, and the pool area is lovely. We were on the top floor and the lifts were fine.
Also the food is excellent with a very wide variety.
I have 2 x suggestions for a couple of the moaners:
If you don't want to get splashed, don't lay on a sunbed near the pool - there are plenty of other areas with sunbeds away from the pool.
There is sometimes a queue at the bar, but only because us English have a need to queue - waiters have their own stations so don't join the queue. Go to another part of the bar like everyone else does who isn't English!
Lovely time. Going again next year.

We have just returned from two weeks staying at the Taurito Princess and we had a great holiday!

Checking In & Out - We booked our holiday through Thomson and had late night flights both ways. The coach transfer from Las Palmas airport took about 80 – 90mins stopping to drop off people staying in Puerto Rico. I had read reviews on Trip Advisor before we went and I found the hotel reception to be as impressive as described in other reviews. Checking in to the hotel was unfortunately quite lengthy and stressful. Our coach had arrived shortly after another coach load of new arrivals so there were a lot of people waiting to check in and only one man on reception. Everyone was very tired after the journey and it was about 3am before we made it to our room. Food and drinks were available in the restaurant for those who wanted to eat and drink but we were so tired we went straight to bed! As our flight home was a late flight, we paid Thomson beforehand to keep our room for a late check out. We got to keep our room until 6.30pm which meant we could make the most of our final day. Please note though that the hotel computers automatically deactivate your room cards at midday on the day of checkout, so if you have got a late check out, you will need to take your room card to reception after midday so they can reactivate your card.

Rooms – Our room was on the 8th floor, which like many other reviewers has pointed out, means you have to brave the lifts. There are only three lifts servicing the whole hotel and at peak times, this could mean a few minutes wait! Our bedroom and bathroom were large, very clean and with plenty of storage space. The air conditioning was very good (although ours kept cutting out at first and it took us a few days to realise that we had to make sure the balcony door was shut tightly, as the air con cuts out when the door is open!) Although there is space for a fridge in the rooms, you have to pay a fee and the hotel will then bring the fridge to your room. We didn’t bother with a fridge but we did pay for the safe which I think was 20 euros (may have been 30!!!) for 2 weeks, although we got 6 euros back when we checked out. We have stayed all inclusive at other resorts before, where we had a large bottle of water delivered to our room daily, however this isn’t the case here. Please note that there is no drinking water provided in the rooms. You will need to collect drinks from either of the bars and bring cups of water up to the room. There are notices on the water machines stating that the filling of bottles is not allowed. We bought a few bottles of water from the shop to keep in our room so we didn’t have to keep going downstairs.

Food - The food was the best we have had on holiday. There was a great selection at all mealtimes with plenty of fresh salads, fruit, freshly cooked meats and pasta. Breakfast was served between 8.30 – 10.30am which is great if you enjoy a lie-in on holiday (as we do!). Lunch was served between 1.00 – 3.00pm and dinner from 6.30 – 9.30pm. Chips, pizzas, sandwiches, burgers and hot dogs were available between 10.30am – 6.30pm in the pool bar. We hired a car for a few days in our second week and asked the hotel to make up a packed lunch, which we had to collect from the main restaurant before 9.00am. It included a bottle of water, carton of juice, bread, cheese, ham, fruit, crackers, margarine and jam.

Entertainment – We generally didn’t get to the pool before 10.00am but we never had a problem getting sunloungers and parasols. There are plenty of them available although the ones by the pool tend to get taken up much quicker than the ones on the sun terrace. The evening entertainment was generally hit or miss. We only went to a couple of the shows and some of them were particularly cheesy and generally quite lame! The piano bar is an alternative to the shows. We were disappointed that there weren’t any open air bars and nowhere where you could sit to eat or drink in the evening – as we quite enjoy the al fresco dining when abroad!

Outside of the resort – We celebrated both our anniversary and my birthday while we were away and on both occasions we got a taxi and went to Puerto Mogan. It’s a really lovely little town and I would recommend taking the time to visit. It cost us just under 6 euros for a one way taxi ride. If you go while it’s still light, you will get the chance to appreciate the quaintness of the place and take some nice snaps! When we had the hire car, we travelled to Las Palmas, Maspalomas & Meloneras, Barranco de Guayadeque with a short visit to Aguimes, and Palmitos Park. There are free buses from the hotel to Maspalomas on a Wednesday (I think it was a Wednesday!) and also to Puerto Mogan on a Friday so if you fancy getting out of the resort, then you can. Palmitos Park is definitely worth a visit and you can buy tickets from the hotel rep for 22 euros (it’s 23 euros at the gate). Make sure you go to the bird shows! When we went, the birds of prey show was on at 12.00 and then again at 2.00pm, with the exotic bird show at 1.00pm.

You will find that the resort itself is very quiet, with the beach next to the hotel, a public lido opposite and a few shops around the bay, but there isn’t much else to do outside of the hotel. The hotel itself is clean and comfortable, and the staff are friendly and efficient. Whenever we had any requests – extra pillows, lightbulbs replacing etc – this was all done very quickly. A nice touch was a bottle of bubbly delivered to our room on my birthday without me even mentioning it to staff (they must have got the date from my passport at check in). We had a very lovely relaxing break and thoroughly enjoyed our holiday! If you have any questions, then please don’t hesitate to ask!

When i first arrived at the hotel in the early hours of the morning... it looked lovely.. Nice, grand entrance with marble floor and big reception. I travelled with my parents, brothers and sisters, partner and my baby daughter meaning i had to use the lifts but straight away was very dissapointed when the doors closed on me and kept on closing... there was no sensor so i had to get my partner to press the button again.. this happened quite a few times. Got into our room and was a bit dissapointed, the balcony was very small and there wasnt much room. There were rooms with bigger balconies but for some reason ours was very small. Our shower leaked and we had no refridgerator or any other facilities in the room... This wouldn't have been much of a problem, but we needed a kettle to do our daughters bottles. Cleaners were good leaving fresh towels everytime and leaving the room spic and span for when we returned. Food wasn't great. Me and my mum are vegetarians and there wasn't much for us at all except salad, chips and bread rolls! Also my younger brothers and sisters couldn't find much either as there wasnt much there for children except ice-cream... Again this wouldn't have been a problem but there age range was from age 7-14 and a lot of food probably wasnt something you would feed to your kids at home.. Pools were nice although i did think they would be bigger, pool bar was good too but the drinks are a bit warm... snacks were repetitive but kept us all filled up. Lovely surroundings, with a small beach, golf course, shops and a water park nearby which is worth going to if you have children. I wouldnt recommend going to Puerto Rico... Me and my partner and daughter went and was constantly hassled by people trying to sell you things.. One time, a man tried to take my partners camera off him and take it away into his shop because he wouldnt take ''no we don't want to buy anything'' for an answer.. we had to get away very quick. If you do go on any trips, i will warn you about the steep drops on the cliffes.. very scary! Didn't think the evening entertainment was very good.. Adult entertainment wasnt on untill 10 oclock and the childrens entertainment was the same every night. Weather was gorgeous but make sure you keep putting your suncream on!!
Overall the hotel was nice and we had a good time but were not going to be going back in a hurry!!
