“BEST CHRISTMAS”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2011

Our first time here, but not the last. 19th-26th dec 2011. On arrival we were met with very friendly and helpful reception staff.
Our room was on the top floor (11th) but after reading previous trip advisors, the lifts were not a problem.
The restaurant had plenty of choice for all 3 sittings (we were all inclusive), that also included the pool bar and they served food there too!
The pool area was clean and spacious, the piano bar, was a lovely relaxed place to sit in the evenings, the pianist was brilliant, he got people up dancing.
Our 2 thomson reps were very knowledgable and helpful, even though we did not venture far, except for Mogan on the hotel free bus, a lovely picturesque harbour with lots a bars and cafes.
We went for a chilled out week, and thats what we got, you won`t find any nightclubs in this area. we cannot find fault with hotel, even though 1 lady thought it was her right to complain as she had to pay for an ice cream for her daughter (not included in all inc).
All the staff say good moring etc, always polite, we will be going back in the future. well done Taurito Princess.

Room Tip: All rooms have seaview, we only had a standard room but it was adequate for us, as we spent our day...

Have just returned from The Taurito having spent 9 days in a great hotel and enjoying fantastic weather.
Have stayed in this hotel on a number of occasions since it opened back in the early 90's.
Has been all inclusive how for a number of years and this has only made the place better.
Food quality is always high and there is plenty of it. I wouldn't like their food bill!
No penny pinching!
The hotel is well looked after and kept very clean to the point of even cleaning around the outside bedroom doors in the corridors.
It is, however, beginning to show its age and I have been advised by certain staff members that it is likely to be closed for a period of time possibly next year for fairly major refurbishment. This happened to its sister hotel opposite last year.
Staff are great and many have been with the hotel for many years.
I cant think of any member of staff who was in any way unpleasant - they are all 'salt of the earth'!
It is clear that your holiday means a lot to them.
No hesitation in recommending. Hope to be back again next year.

Room Tip: All rooms are sea facing but the seaward end I feel is nicer.

Upon arriving at the hotel, my family and I were greeted with a beautiful and open reception area. Everywhere was tidy, clean and kept looking neat.

All the staff were friendly and happy to help with anything we needed. The animation team were particularly great, as they would put on some fantastic activities and encourage you to join if you seemed interested. I was particularly impressed by how organised they were. Everyone knew what activity was on, where and when. The mini club was full of great kids activities and had a fun and safe environment.

The room I stayed in was kept very clean. The cleaners came in to replace the towels and shower gels/soaps, as well as changing the bedsheets every day. The floors were also cleaned often and the place was left spotless.

The three pools were all very good. There is one cold water pool, one heated pool and one small, shallow pool for little kids. The heated pool was heated at the time we were there and was a very nice temperature. I also loved the idea that they had to stop people from taking the sunbeds. You are basically not allowed to leave your towels on a sunbed early in the morning if you aren't there, or they will be collected and put away. You will then have to pay to have them back. It really worked well!

I have only two negative things to say. One of them is that when there was heavy rain, the reception area was the only place to have rubber mats put down, whereas the rest of the place (e.g. the stairs) was left slippery. The other complaint is to the bus service into the market. It was brilliant on the way there (free to go, driver was friendly) but on the way back, we had people who did not belong to the hotel getting on the bus, taking up the space. This meant that people were left behind and had to wait for the next bus.

The food in the hotel was very good. There were themed nights, which meant that there was something new to eat every day, as well as having some things the same for the fussy eaters. The food was always kept hot, as well as the plates, which is great!

Every night, there was something new to do. There was the option of the main entertainment or a quiet performance in the piano bar. The entertainment was normally very good, but there was also the option to go for a walk around the area to see it all lit up. The shops were open until quite late.

In general, I found this hotel perfect for what we wanted. It was fun, clean, great for families and very welcoming. I can't wait to go again!

This was our first voluntary “total tourismo” experience for a few years. For the totality of the touristic experience, the place pretty much lived up to our expectations. The whole Taurito bay appeared to be absolutely superficial environment for relaxation in the sun. We heard someone talking by the pool how the best part of the hotel was that you really did not need to leave the hotel area even to go to the beach – which by the way was very nice and pretty much the only non-superficial part in the whole bay and started just outside the main doors.

Like I guess pretty much everyone in the hotel we had the all-inclusive package. Which meant than there was a plenty of food and local drinks available all the time. Just be sure to fully understand that inclusive is, by definition, opposite to exclusive. Generally, food is not particularly bad, it is only that they have invested on quantity rather than quality. However, I also had one very bad food experience during our stay. That occurred on a “special dinner” they serve for the guests once during the week – I got food poisoning most likely from salmon that all the others in our group refused to eat altogether because of the peculiar taste of it. I hope I was just unlucky. They do their best to fully cook everything, maybe for a reason. Beer is ok, red wine and cava on tap undrinkable unless you mix it with something, which is pretty amazing given that the island is part of Spain.

You can hear everything from the room next to you, but this is kind of a standard in Spain. The rooms are also a bit worn down, more than you should expect from a hotel advertised as having a four star rating. The again bathrooms are large, apparently recently renovated and the view from the balcony to the sea is just beautiful.

There is wlan only in the lobby and that is dirt expensive, something you experienced 10 years ago in other places. The elevators work for the most of the time, it is just that it takes ages to get one.

The small city of Mogan is just next door, but you can walk there only if you are ready to risk your life by hanging on the verge of a very narrow road with plenty of traffic. Taxi is cheap, though, I really recommend taking the trip.

We travelled with 4-6 year old kids. They were happy with almost everything, but especially with the heated pools. There is a very nice water park in the middle of the bay but the seawater pools are not heated and the slides are for a bit older children.

We went here for a week on a last .minute deal. This was one of the few hotels that was available at the time, so we weren't expecting anything great. Overall though, the rooms and hotel were clean, the pool was more than adequate, the food was fine, it is near a beach, and the facilities are good. There was not much to complain or criticise the hotel about.

The lifts are fairly slow, and we did walk from the 5th floor a few times. The exercise did us good though! Generally, we did not have to wait long for the lifts...were we just lucky? Perhaps, but going up from the ground floor, the lifts were always prompt.

There was nothing wrong with the food, but it was not fantastic. Not a huge amount of variety, but enough to keep us going for the week. The food was cheaper food - chicken, pork, fish. However, on one day they did put on some mussels and salmon. We stayed for a night at the maspalomas princess, and found the food there much better.

The pool is as it looks in the brochures. It is not the biggest pool, but I can't criticise anyone for misrepresentation. I would advise you to take sandals or flip flops for around the pool - the paving can get very very hot in the sun. The pool was clean, so again, no complaints.

There are lots of sun loungers available, but not necessarily right next to the pool. The hotel does have a large terrace, and there were always loungers free there. Obviously, if the ones by the pool are the most popular, and are the ones that go first. The hotel will remove towels if the loungers are reserved early in the morning.

We saw some of the entertainment and it was okay. A variety of acts - magician, parrots, singers, dancers. The kids disco was good as well, and they had the children running through the lounge during it! I realise that there will be some that frown on this though!!

I don't think we would return here. If we went back to Gran Canaria, we would probably go to the Maspalomas Princess again. However, if we wanted a week away at the last minute, I don't think you can go far wrong with this hotel

It is a short walk to the black sand beach, and the resort.

We just spent the week in The Taurito Princess (14/11 to 21/11) for my Birthday!
When we arrived our first thoughts was OMG this place is soooo dated! Got to our room which was on the 8th floor and it got even worse! The room was clean but basic and dated! Needs investment and modernisation (bed linen and curtains for a start). All rooms have a fantasic view of the sea and resort. Beautiful at night.
The next day when the sun started to shine things didn't seem soooo bad. I'm pleased to say that we enjoyed our time there.
The food was ok but not great, bar service was help yourself in the daytime and general bar tender service in the evenings. The piano bar was ok but the entertainment wasn't the best.
The lifts were a pain if you were on a high floor!
Rooms are basic and anything extra you have to pay :(
If you enjoy an early night watching the tv then there is only 2 English Channels NEWS AND SPORT!!!! Bring your lap top to watch dvds!!!! Wi fi available for EXTRA an charge!!!!!
Good beach watersports. Did parasailing which was amazing!
Thomson offer good excursions with helpful reps. We went on a privite plane around the island on my birthday! You MUST do it! Breath taking and very well run! Site seeing and shopping in Las Palmas was ok but free time wandering around getting lost and worring about finding where the pick up point is isn't a nice feeling tho!
Also don't forget to go to Mogan which is a beautiful harbour with loads of quaint resturants and shops. Take the public bus. No more than 10 mins away and only costs 1,40 Euro.
All in all we had a good week in the the sun and the hotel grew on us.
We might just go back one day.
