“Witley Court”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2012

Visited with one adult and two children Aged 10+13. Grounds are very appealing but the actual building has little to offer in the way of interest to the kids. Recent history 1850+ and goes on and on and on about the how the Victorian Elite enjoyed themselves. Ok if that ticks the boxes for you but the kids got bored quickly. Did enjoy the grounds and the water fountain. Note this does not run continuously, it is switched on on the hour for approx 15min, but NOT every hour. Staff were pleasant and the worth a visit. FREE Parking!!!!,

“No fuss”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2012

Great for kids who could run around and enjoy the day. Nothing was "precious". It is a long walk form the car park so best for the fit, but for families brilliant

“How the mighty fall & rise again.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2012

Once upon a time this was truly one of the grandest Mansions in the Europe., frequented by Kings & Queens & the Aristocracy alike. Wild parties were given plenty of space in the then media. Having fallen on hard times the buildings were nearly a ruin when in the 70s the house was gutted by fire. Since being taken over by English Heritage some years back it has been given back its dignity as a classy ruin with bags of history. each section is clearly marked for the visitor with reference guidlines. Great Whitley church which is connected to the Court, with its cupola, looks like a building from Portmerion. But it is inside this little church, which is free to enter, that lies one of the hidden jewels of Worcestershire. The Italianate Baroque interior is quite a shock to the caller with stunning ceiling paintings surrounded by ormolu & plaster decoration. Back to the Court which is £6.25 per adult visitor or free if you belong to English Heritage. There are beatiful formal gardens which have just been relaid, nice walks, beautiful views and possibly the most audacious fountains ever seen, based on Greek Mythology (fully working after Easter 2012) Quite good tearooms next to the church. Good Parking but rather bumpy tracks getting there.

“What a difference a year makes”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2012

We visited in spring, the gardens were being tended and the 'ruins' looked splendid against the colourful backdrop of daffodils and tulips. The fountains have been restored to their former glory and are timed to display every hour, a wonderful sight. The cafe sells teas and coffees at very reasonable prices so this is a recommendation for an afternoon's outing
